WASHINGTON — The Obama administration on Wednesday unveiled rules for coal-fired power plants that mean costly investments passed on to consumers, but also health benefits.

Hundreds of older plants — which together make up the largest remaining source of unchecked toxic air pollution in the United States — will have to cut emissions or shut down.

Scott Segal, an energy industry lobbyist at Bracewell & Giuliani, said the rules will result in the loss of more than 1.4 million jobs by 2020 as utilities are forced to shutter old coal-fired plants.

Tis the season to be jolly.

awesome, and I guess you nuts jobbers don't support nuclear power plants? even if there is a cleaner reactor and one that can't be used to create nuclear bombs?

I'm sure you don't....sad.

research molten salt reactor, as that is safe & clean

until then, you two need to turn off all electrical devices

1.4 million people work at coal-burning power plants? I know an energy lobbyist can be counted on to provide accurate information on this issue, but that number sounds a little bit...um, excessive.

That number includes all the jobs in the community supported by the custom of the plant and its employees. No doubt several doughnut bakers and light bulb salesmen will need to relocate.

Research "straw man asshat argument."

Until then you need to turn off your computer.

The premise is ridiculous.

There is no such thing as cheap energy. We pay for "cheap" energy in the form of pollution, poisoned and inedible seafood, medical problems, all kinds of shit.

Yup. And I thought of that every time the current Jackass In Chief stood up on his hind legs and bleated shit about "clean coal" all through the campaign and into his administration.
