Grey was so excited - she had never been to a gaming/comic convention before. She was twenty-six and had always wanted to attend; it wasn't until this year that she found herself with the extra money and time.
She lived in the midwest, equally between the coasts of the United States. For years, attending college while working left her completely unable to consider taking the most-wanted trip. Then, she graduated and found herself perpetually busy. She was a webmaster by day and a wanna-be internet artist by night. She tried not to think of how much her webisode funds were being diminished by this trip. It would be worth it, she reassured herself. The costumes of fellow fans, celebrity appearances, panels, previews, booths...
Her trip out was uneventful. She arrived the night before the con and checked in to her room, which was contained within the establishment that would be hosting the events. Her eyes scanned those in the public areas, wondering how many of them would be dressed as a hero or villain tomorrow. She couldn't wipe the soft nerdish smile from her face as she walked to her room.
Grey woke up early the following morning. The excitement hadn't worn off; she leapt from the bed and made coffee before jumping in the shower.
She had wanted an armored costume, such as Ailyn Vel or Samus. She didn't have nearly enough time to prepare that, though, so she settled for another favorite. Tifa Lockheart.
The woman stood in front of the mirror and studied her form. She had quickly learned that she couldn't let her gaming habits effect her ability to take care of herself - the last couple years of getting back in to shape had paid off. Though she could never be quite as perfect as any character, she fit her present part well enough.
Her hair was dark brown and reached down past her hips, being cut in the front to frame her face. Her eyes were blue (though she would be wearing brown contacts for the day) and her skin fair. She let her eyes wander over her chest, which she had always been grateful for. Her natural D cup breasts were just big enough that she was never teased in school for being a nerd and people in general seemed to be more friendly than not. The trimness of her waist led to full hips and legs toned by a regular running regimen.
She took a fair amount of preparing. We will not bore the reader with details of Grey blow drying her hair and doing her make-up. It would suffice to say that once prepared, the woman looked herself over and hesitated only slightly before making her way out of her room.
She was wearing Tifa's outfit from FFVII. The woman blushed slightly as she made her way towards the convention events as she felt the eyes of others upon her. She tried to distract herself by observing their costumes in turn. Grey would give her compliments to other fans and even pause to take pictures with a few.
Her destination, though, was an autograph booth. She wanted to be there early, when the guests were still fresh and unworn from hours of non-stop fanspew and hand cramps. She stood in the line with half an hour until the event would open. She closed her eyes and smiled, picturing the only person she was really interested in meeting. She tried to talk herself down from acting like the total fangirl that she was, if that was possible. She would only have one chance at a first impression. Well. Unless she was so unmemorable that it would be like he had never met her at all.
