2012 Xmas/New Years Contest

a.i.r.’s newest contest…

You can begin submitting your stories on December 1st and up until December 25th . We encourage all contestants to submit their stories as early in the submission window as possible. Those authors who try to abuse the system by entering their stories at the very last hour (using the infamous darkboy technique) will risk having their stories disqualified.

The winners will be announced on or around December 29th

You can discuss this special contest on the tigerlady’s AHland toady thread, or of course here on the A.I.R. thread.

PLEASE NOTE: While the LITEROTICA Winter Contest runs at the same time as the A.I.R. Contest the two are totally separate and run under a different set of rules.

RULES (for the A.I.R. section of the contest):
(see the QUEEN for this weeks LITEROTICA Rules and their interpretation)

- All submissions must be stand-alone stories created for this contest theme. We will not accept individual chapters of a larger work submitted separately.

- Nor will stories featuring characters, locales, plot lines, etc., etc., that have been previously used by the author be accepted.

- Prizes will be awarded in the following categories (a story can only win one prize in each contest):

1) Best Overall Story
2) Most Views
3) Most Comments
4) Most Votes
5) Highest Score
6) Most Favorites (both author and story favorites)

- A story has to accrue a minimum of 250 votes to be eligible (higher in some categories). The vote, comment, view, favorite, and score numbers that are reported by LITEROTICA will be used subject to final verification by the A.I.R. Computer Center.

- Authors are prohibited from voting or commenting on their own stories. Their votes on competing stories will also be swept away.

- Story must have a Xmas/New Years Theme.

- It must be erotic in content.

- Non-Human/Science-Fiction category stories will not be accepted in this contest.

- Story must not exceed 5 LITEROTICA pages in length (20,000 words).

- Each author is allowed only one submission (under his name and his various ALTS – ie darkboy and the lesslight ALT are allowed only one entry - not two) per contest.

-An exception to this rule has been made for Top 25 “Most Favorited” authors – they are allowed two or three depending upon their ranking.

- No character may be named Pauletta.

- Don’t just submit some rehashed story you’ve been working on for years. We want something fresh. Be creative!

- The "least viewed" story in the contest has absolutely no chance of winning a prize.

- A.I.R. reserves the right to disqualify without notice or explanation any story in which any kind of cheating or vote-tampering is suspected. lovergirl (yes the convicted cheat), due to previous infractions of this rule, has been suspended for this contest as she is in the process of serving her 3 contest suspension.

- Every story that meets the above criteria and is submitted to LITEROTICA during the contest period will be automatically entered into the A.I.R. contest. No special submission form must be filled out. We believe in inclusivity!

LIFETIME ACHIEVMENT AWARD

The Board of Directors of the ASSOCIATION of INDEPENDENT READERS (A.I.R.) decided some time ago that it would be appropriate to honor one of the giants of LITEROTICA fiction at the end of each of the Special Themed A.I.R. Contests.

They decided to call this new prize, one they believe will soon become emblematic of erotic fiction excellence and the most respected author’s award in the genre, the MANU. This name of course honors the first PRINCE of erotic fiction, a man who’s become a giant in the field of erotic publishing.

Does anyone know if the Survivor Contest is happening next year? I didn't do anything ALL YEAR except for the one I submitted last night. I want to actually participate in Survivor next year, although I'll still only do Text With Audio stories.

This isn't a Winter Contest question but it does have to do with contests so I thought I'd post it on the two contest support threads.

I've got to concede that I hadn't been following the 2011 annual awards and to tell you the truth I thought they'd been awarded months ago. Anyway, I was talking to Jacqui today and asked her who won the best author award for 2011. She came back a half an hour later and said, "I don't think they ever awarded them boss. In fact I don't even think they've been voted on yet."

The Board of Directors of A.I.R. decided yesterday that the association will henceforth be awarding a new prize on a yearly basis.

To be called “the freddie” (in honor of and as a memorial to one of LITEROTICA’S most brilliant authors) this award will be bestowed annually (in early to mid January) on the author who was deemed by the members of A.I.R. to be the most popular author on LITEROTICA over the preceding year.

This new award is not intended to supplant LITEROTICA’S own “Most Influential Author” prize which is sometimes awarded eventually. Our aim instead is to reward the author who was the most loved and read in the preceding year by real readers, not some so called “good” writer as picked by elitist insiders.

We will be looking at authors who sold the most stories, received the most comments, harvested the most votes and had their stories rated highly. Who wrote the greatest stories of the year. Unlike the MANU which is based on an author’s lifetime contribution to erotic literature, the “freddie” will be solely based on the work of only the year involved.

We are presently accepting nominations for the 2012 “freddie”. If you would like to nominate an author please email or PM me in the coming days. In late December a voting list of perhaps 4-8 final nominees will be sent out to the complete A.I.R. membership. A January announcement will follow.

Well here are the real numbers! I’m sure all of you are as bored by the almost incomprehensible figures our aussie ALT keeps endlessly posting as we are.

The QUEEN again is facing a real conundrum this time! A NON-EROTIC story, a LOVERGIRL story and another ROMANCE leading the way. What to do?

Poor LOVERGIRL is on the hot seat again – for about the fourth straight contest she’s in the money before MANU’S brooms start their work. The boss just shook his head when he saw the leaders. Most of us in the office are hoping the QUEEN just lets her win this time – it’s becoming ridiculous. And yet after the last three contests no one knows if she is and has been cheating or if she’s getting fucked. It’s simply not a good situation. And that’s what happens when you have a system with no transparency… no one knows the truth.
