A simple township at the mid-XIXth... could be the nest of such a decadent family?
The Cavanaughs had always been a simple family. As John, the patriach, earned them quite a good living managing the city's new industrial weavers; all in the Household could say that they've enjoyed quite a confortable living. Every one of them, from the governess' family to the single gardener. While they've never been rich or wealthy enough to become a great, political power, the Cavanaugh's small family had always been one the other powers came to while seeking advice... and that bore alone it's influence.
But John was a bitter man. His wife, Perpetua, had passed away so soon, after the birth of their one child, James. John had never searched for a replacement to the fair Perpetua, and although he had indulged into other women caresses, he had turned out to dedicate his sweat and soul into providing for his Household - and that meant the servants as well. Main between them all stood the Governess. A woman by the name of Suella; whose entire family worked for the Cavanaughs.
She had been a constant in James live since the beggining, and a refreshment for John, knowing that a wise woman took care of his Home while he toiled for them all. Suella had been hired and provided living since her early twenties, working as a maid for Perpetua and taking the duties of Governess after the Mistress of the Household passed away. One could say that she was now the true Mistress of the House, although John had never searched for her caresses - quite a feat considering the society of the time. No, John seeked out pleasure elsewhere... in Suella's daughters.
For the Governess, although cared for young James, had children of her own. Their father had long passed away as well... or had him dissapeared? No one except for Suella herself knew it for sure. She had a couple of twins, the girls Elisabetha and Norelli, who were both on their early to mid-twenties... and a boy, Sebastian. Suella had acted as a wet nurse for both James and Sebastian at the same time, providing the both would bond since her breastfeeding into close, intimate friends.
And now that James was in his earliest twenties, his beloved Governess was just reaching her forties. Although she had aged little, she was the only constant into his life from the beginning. She had nursed him, and become the only motherly figure the Heir of the Cavanaughs had. She demanded such respect that James had never caused her wrath... fearful for any retribuition.
Today, James read a book at the tall living room, sitting down on an armchair. Suella patiently sewed off clothes while singing some tune he had never undestand. Sebastian would soon come home from his job as an Apprentice to the nearby Blacksmith, and his fellow awaitied him patiently. They had a plan for the afternoon, after all...
