Tamara bit the bottom of her lip as she looked at the lady behind the counter, "Are you sure there are no other flights available?" This couldn't be happening. First the weather in California stunk, then the hotel didn't have her name on the list--now this! What else could go wrong? She was just suppose to be here for a convention and then head back to Wyoming in the next evening. Simple was all it was suppose to be.

"I'm sorry ma'am, there are no available flights until tomorrow evening." The lady behind the counter told her for the umpteeth time.

With a deep sight, Tamara just nodded and and made plans to fly out tomorrow night. She grabbed her carry on and left the counter. She needed a drink really bad.

This was the first time Tamara had been sent away because of work. And she was sort of hoping it was the last time if everything went this way each time.

Finding herself at one of the small bars, Tamara entered and took a seat at the bar. She just needed something to get her relaxed before she headed back to the hotel for another night away from home.

Not that it actually mattered being away from home. She only had her cat to look after and her neighbor had that taken care of. No one else at home waiting for her. No one to call home and tell them, 'Hey, I'm going to be late, my flight's been delayed." Nope. Oh well, this was why she needed a drink really bad.

"One martini please." She told the bartender as he went to mix her drink.

Jonah Trask got off the phone with the hotel. The room was still being cleaned, but they hadn't given it away yet. At least he'd have a place to sleep tonight.

To be honest, it wasn't that bad. Since they were in town for three days for the trade conference, he and Tom had splurged on a suite at the downtown hotel next to the convention center. Had a full sitting area with entertainment center, mini-kitchen - the works. Jonah just preferred sleeping in his own bed.

Consequently, when Tom had gotten a line on a couple tickets on the redeye back tonight, he'd packed up his stuff and headed out. Unfortunately, only one of the tickets ended up being available, so he let Tom take it. He had just gotten married (second time for him, first for her), so he had beautiful bride at home who he hadn't seen in three days. All Jonah could look forward to was a comfy bed; Robert had a camping trip with his Scout troop this weekend, so he wouldn't be back in till sometime Sunday.

Absent the flight back, both he and Tom would be celebrating over a fine meal at McGilly's. The trade conference had gone very well. They'd signed three new customers, including a contract with Patterson Manufacturing that would probably add 15% to next year's revenues by itself. Fortunately, he hadn't thought to cancel the reservation on the way out the door, so he could still have the table for two to himself. A good wine, a nice steak, and then maybe an hour in the hotel hot tub before bed. Should be a nice night.

Still, he had another couple hours before his dinner reservation. He turned towards one of the airport bars. Maybe they'd have a bottle of Lagavulin tucked away somewhere.
