Joshua Bishop's life had been turned upside down over the past couple of months, to be certain. It began with his father becoming very ill, and Josh having to return to his childhood home when things looked to be going downhill very quickly. His father was certainly no young man anymore, despite his efforts at keeping himself that way, including the bride he had taken for himself nearly a year ago. It was easy to tell what his father saw in the woman; she was a bona fide MILF, up to and including a sexy daughter who had just turned eighteen. Despite this, Joshua had seen her as a gold digger.
When his father finally passed away from the illness, it turned out that he'd had similar fears about his wife. Josh had not known about the prenup, which protected his father's assets from his new wife for five years, but it also turned out that the old man had also never added his bride to the will, which clearly surprised the hell out of her. This left 25 year old Josh as the sole inheritor of his property, including the business that he had made so successful and the large house that he had been sharing with his wife and her daughter from a previous marriage.
So, Josh quit his job, and let his lease lapse on his apartment, and had his things moved to the house he had just inherited, only after speaking to his lawyers, who were positive that his stepmother would have no case should she try to sue, due to the prenup. Since his father's passing, he had been allowing his stepmother to stay in the house, even in the master bedroom. His stepsister was out of the country, at a private college that his father had been paying for, so they had been alone together, and he had remained cordial toward her, despite his feelings about her. The time was coming, however, where she would need to make a decision about where she was going to go.
Josh returned home from the business where his father had made his fortune after a day of meetings with the top executives there that had actually gone fairly well. They were relieved that he was not going to be taking too strong a hand in things, at least at first. He had a background in running businesses himself, so he would be able to let them run things and just be able to check certain things to make sure everyone was doing what they needed to do. Things that wouldn't take a lot of time, and much of it could be done from home, which is what his father had apparently been doing for quite some time before his passing.
As he stepped into the large house, he wondered whether his stepmother was home or not. There was a talk that he needed to have with her, and he didn't want to put it off any longer. It had been a month since the funeral, and he needed to find out what she planned to do. He did not plan on letting her stay with him indefinitely, not unless she had a really good reason. Walking around the house somewhat at random, he looked for her, humming softly.
