For some hours she'd been adrift, half unconscious and being unable to decide which way to swim, as all she could see ahead was the vast ocean. She was cold as she was naked and it was getting darker. She knew she had nearly any possibility of getting out of there alive. She felt seaweed getting stuck on her naked body, but she didn't care. She was only worried about sharks... but she couldn't remember where she was so she couldn't know if it was a shark area. In fact, she couldn't even remember who she was, she had had a terrible concussion.

All that thinking caused her a terrible head-ache and she finally just let go and fell sound asleep, letting the waves take her, hopefully, to the shore.

A cold fog crept in from the dark Pacific towards the lonely stretch of beach called Hermosa. Located within the city limits of the metropolis that is Los Angeles, the day's crowds of surfers and sunbathers have long since gone, and now, at nearly midnight, found only one lonely soul sitting upon the stairs leading towards the sand. A casual observer would be hard to distinguish details of the person, save that it was a man, in his early thirties, dressed in jeans and an olive drab surplus military jacket.
Scott enjoyed coming to this spot, at this hour; it helped him think. He had lost track of how many times he had come here to mull over the details of previous cases. The steady rhythm of the surf seemed to be just the thing he needed to get that breakthrough he needed. He was not thinking of a case this visit, though. Scott was debating either or not to turn in his resignation. The constant stress of either working the robbery caseload or covering up his other activities seemed to building daily.
It was at this time when Scott saw it in the surf. Even with his eyes having become adjusted to the darkness, the object was hard to distinguish amongst the breakers. The sight of pale skin was what made Scott bolt standing up. Without thinking he was in a run across the beach, his boots digging into the sand. As he reached the water the object turned out to be a woman, with only a few draping strands of seaweed covering her form.
Pulling her under her arms from the foamy surf, his emergency aid training took over and examined her. She was breathing, thankfully, and had no obvious serious injuries. Lifting her head found a nasty gash and lump on the back of her skull. During the whole time, Scott kept trying to get her attention, but she seemed unresponsive. This was appearing to be a case of a concussion, and Scott was about to run to his truck for his walkie talkie to radio in EMS when her eyes bolted open and took a firm, almost frantic grasp of his wrist..

"Wait, don't go", she said coughin. Some water came out of her mouth.

She looked in his eyes trying to discern whether he was a trusty man, but in the dark night she barely could see anything.

"I need help. Please, could you help me?"; she said shivering. The sand was cold and wet and cold gust covered her body.

Exhausted she nearly fainted again. She let go of his arm and fell on the floor again.

"I'm... cold...", she whispered and lost consciousness again.

But after some seconds she was awake again, now in a great distress. She started rolling around on the sand as if trying to escape from someon

"No, let go off me!"; she started shouting. "Don't kill me, I know nothing about that!", she got up but her tired legs couldn't hold her and she fell to the sand again, crawling away.
