The Authors' Hangout Summer Lovin' Contest 2011 Support Thread

There is about a month to go to the start of the Summer Lovin' Contest but I am starting this thread now for those who wish to be well prepared.

As before, this thread is to encourage authors to write and enter, to support them when the muses fly away, to sympathise when trolls attack, and to shamelessly beg for votes.

For anyone who hasn't entered a themed Literotica contest before:

The advantages are that once you enter, your entry and all your writing gets more attention, votes, feedback and PCs than it would otherwise get. You also get support from members of the Author's Hangout.

The disadvantages are that you will also attract unwelcome attention from trolls and unenlightened critics. The sweeps of duplicated and illegal votes can cause heartbreak. You will probably curse the marking systems and fail to understand how they could possibly have done that to you. It can be a bumpy ride. If you want to know HOW bumpy, read one of the previous contest support threads.

Please ignore the outrageous unsubstantiated claims; the moaning, wailing and gnashing of teeth that occur in this thread over the contest and voting systems and concentrate on the benefits of writing contest entries. Please use the ignore function to remove those people who irritate you most from this or any thread.

If you really want your writing to improve, critics will be a factor. Entering a themed Literotica contest is one of the easier ways to get noticed.

If in doubt, go for it. You have nothing to lose but your virginity, and if you haven't lost it yet, what are you doing here?

Oh dear, not sure I can stand the strain in entering two contests this summer, lol. I'll have to see if I can come up with something enough ahead of time to get it actually edited instead of throwing it out there at the last minute.

I've got two stories ready to post as soon as the opening date comes around. Not likely to come up with another, though. Ogg, when you post a multi-chapter story, do you post it all at once or post all the chapters one after another on the same day?

My FAVORITE category! Have one ready to go, not sure about whether to enter a second because I think I want to include it as a chapter in a longer story later on.

Since chapters are not allowed as separate entries, I assume that you would have to post the whole story as one submission.

Ooh.. I wasn't planning on doing another contest til Halloween, but maybe this one..
I'm sure I've got something floating around that I can use... I better get started!

Last Year's Entries?

Hey, is there anyplace where last year's entries are collected? (Probably someplace right under my nose?) I'm just wondering what sorts of things people throw into this contest.

I wasn't going to write one, but then I spent two weeks in Maine and came up with loads of ideas. We'll see if I can find the time to write a "keepah" of a story.

I'm making sure that I'm posted by day one.

So I asked slave_ for ideas on this one while we were eating dinner one night. Sadly, her idea wouldn't pass submission requirements. So I'm using this thread as my first Summer Lovin' submission. The title came from slave_'s response when I answered her question "What's the theme?"

Title: Summer Lovin? Are You Fucking Kidding Me?

The man looked across the room at the girl lying on the bed staring at her computer. He loved the way the sweat glistened on her nude body. Her nipples were hard pebbles from the air constantly blowing on them from the fan.

Feeling the bulge growing in his shorts, he got up and climbed on the bed.

She just stared at him silently.

"Rowr," he growled throatily.

She rolled her eyes, "Are you kidding me? It's too fucking hot!"

The End

The music festival had descended into yet another mud bath. Jane had lost one of her green wellies in the sticky goo by the toilets and the other in the track leading from the food area.

When they reached their tent, the surface water had risen above their groundsheet and soaked their sleeping bags and spare clothing.

"This is not the sort of dirty weekend I wanted," Jane sobbed against Alan's shoulder. "I just want to go home, have a bath and sleep for a week."

"Next time," Alan said, "We'll go to a motel."

"What makes you think there'll be a next time?" Jane asked. "I want to forget this weekend, the weather and you..."

OY! Going to my happy place heh heh

On another note, and not to do with grandmothers, thank goodness for air conditioning.

I think I have three started and maybe one finished and that's just in the Sumner Loving Folder.

I love the heat and sweaty bodies rubbing together. Slick slippery fun was had by all involved.

Still mulling mine over. I've got a couple of ideas, and have to figure out which one is going to work.

If I have the time and the ideas, I might toss my hat in the ring for this one again, not that I'd expect to win, but contests, if nothing else, are always fun to enter. And the Summer Lovin' theme is pretty easy.
