Over the centuries many had fallen, chosen to take human for and live among us. The angels had passed their souls into a newborn that had been chosen. The memories of their true nature erased until finally they could acept what they were and return to heaven. It was seen as a trial,a test of faith for the true faithful, and there was one who remained to watch and ensure corruption would not divert the path of the test.

But the Devil is subtle and clever, his jealousy knows no bounds and his hate for the pure is endless. He has selected one such aspirant - a womanly body to corrupt and pervert to his cause.....

I'll play Azariah, the guardian and Azazel the deciever - seeing a suitable female rp'er to play the object of their battle. Timeframe can be of your choosing, modern, historical, apocalyptic future etc

PM for interest!

He had travelled for days, resting at Inn's and ensuring his cover was perfect. Te young aristocrat rode into Bath on the alotted day, the signs had foretold that the birth would take place in the town. He moved through the streets - making sure to avoid contact wit the mortals, some didn't even see him, their faith all but gone. Others saw and stared but forgot his passing as soon as he left their sight. Then he saw them - the people gathred around the carriage and the cries of the newborn ringing around. All he had to do now was wait for the child to come of age.....

She was just tired of the corset. Every day since her body started showing she was a woman Nora had to wear those tying devilish things upon her dresses.

"Nana, can I let it here today? Just for some minutes. It is so frustrating not beaing able to breathe fully", she complained.

"No way, little lady," she said, "you want your father to have me imprisoned? Besides, you know today is an important day, and you have to dress properly."

Yes, important. I'm tried to be sold, just like any other day, she puffed in her mind. Hopefully I can turn this one down too.

As she was the youngest daughter, her father had been trying to find her a suitable husband. But she had done all the possible things to turn them down. She felt like she was being sold and liked her independency too much to let it happen.

"There you are, ready to go.", her nanny said. "And don't try any dirty tricks today. You know your father is getting tired of your plays. If you don't start behaving like the lady you are supposed to be, your father is sending you to the nunnery".

She wasn't expecting that. But what happens if I don't like him. Why can't rich girls find happiness and love?

Finally she got to the room her father was waiting for her, along with some other people she didn't care to look to until she was sitting next to her father.

"Good morning, father.", she said bowing to him, and sitting by his side.

The two men sat on the other side of the room, one blonde and open faced, his blue eyes carefully taking in his surroundings. Te second man - dark haired and slumped slightly seemed introverted and shy, he fiddld with his cane and was the only prson to stand as she entered the room.

'Nora, these gentlemen are here to court you.' her fater announced 'Mr Lucien DuBois and Mr George White.'

The blonde gentleman lept up - his clothes expensive and his smile broad, he offered his hand 'madame - it is my honour..' he bowed flamboyantly. The seond gentlman stood and bowed stiffly.

'now my dear Mr DuBois would like to walk with you as I talk to Mr White' whispered her father and took her hand to offer to the Blone gentleman

Two men at a time?, Nora thought. She couldn't understand. Or was she supposed to choose one? For the time being she wasn't liking any of them; the blond being too interested in her, the dark haired one being too little. Or was one supposed to be the other one's father? No, they seemed the same age and they had different surnames. She couldn't make any sense out of it. I'll have to ask him in our walk.

"I is my honour, Mr Dubois. Please, let me show you our wonderful garden as we enjoy this lovely sunny morning", she said as she walked towards the blonde man, offering her hand in advance.

She had always hated that flauting, but she remembered what her nana had said. The word "nunnery" resounded in her head, so she should try to behave with this one.

"So, Mr. Duboius, I'm a bit lost, are you related to Mr. White? If you pardon my daring.", she didn't want to be so direct, but she needed to know, she was completely lost.

DuBois grinned 'oh no dear, we are rivals. But I fear Mr White is not up to the challenge. I have only met him today and I feel he is too sullen a man to be interesting.' DuBois walked for a moment - appearing to consider his thoughts. 'tell me miss, do you like horses? I have a stables with a number of horses that need tobe ridden constantly, I would enjoy watching you exercise one....if thhat is not too forward of me'

Meanwhile Mr White walked with her father, discussing trade options with the colonies and the prospcts for his future

So they just happened to appear at the same time... that was an easy explanation, of course, but she thought it was quite strange to be a coincidence. She shared his thoughts about Mr White. He probably was there for another reason, probably looking for a trade with her father, and he asked him if he'd want to marry his daughter... Enough thinking for today, she thought suddenly.

"Of course, I love riding. But I already have a horse of my own. You know, she is the daughter of my mother's horse, and we are quite close... I've ridden her since we both were little, some coincidence made us be born the same day..." she realized she was talking too much; a lady wasn't supposed to share her thoughts, just answer. "But of course I'd love pleasing you by riding any of your horses. Have you brought any of them here?"

She really didn't want to, as she only felt confortable riding Moonbeam, her horse. But she thought she'd have to please that new man her father had chosen at least for a while. It would look as if she had finally seen reason and was doing the best she could to find a husband. Then she just would have to dismiss him, she would sure find a way. She just had to feign being interested for a while. She smiled at the man she was with. Here we go, ladylike behaviour.

DuBois smiled, 'I'm sure your horse is more than adequate. Maybe you coul show me to her?' He stoppd and sniffed the air, then gently pulled her in the opposite direction than they were walking, his pace quickening slightly.

When the couple turned and walked away, the man moved from his hiding place, he closed the telescope and turned to his own Stallion. The black Horse turnd to him as he approachd, sensing his unease. 'well now we know where she is and that one of them has found her already' he whispered. Slowly he mounted and rode towards the town, his plans must now speedd up, there was a danger he could loose her for ever

"Of course. And we have some spare horses, we could saddle up one of them and we could ride around the manor", she didn't understand why they had turned, for sure he didn't know where the stables were, but now they were heading to them. She had felt as if she was being watched, right before they turned around, but she gazed around and couldn't see anyone, so she though she had imagined it.

"For how long are you staying with us, Mr. Dubois? I'm sure my father has already offered you as many rooms as you need for your stay." Nora didn't know why, but that man was so misterious. She found something strange in his eyes, and she didn't know why, but the more she was with him, the more she wanted to know him better. She was sure he had some secret, and she was determined to discover it.

he smiled 'I'm pretty sure none of your horses would suit me, but thank you. I will be her for as long as it takes.....' he adjusted his coat and checked his watch. As they approached the stables his manner changed, the dog began barking - staring directly at him, DuBois had his teeth bared and was grimacing 'filthy animals' maybe we should walk away Miss'

"As it pleases you, my lord. You are my guest so we can do as you wish.", she said surprised, as it had been his idea. She was also surprised by the dogs behaviour, and suddenly she felt a cold shiver. She instictively let loose of his arm. Nora was getting warning feelings but couldn't know why, as the man didn't look dangerous at all. It must be my imagination, too many fantasy books, I guess, she thought, as she kept on walking.

"Maybe you want to get inside and have some tea?", she offered, not knowing what to do, as she hadn't let any of the previous men court her.

he relaxed as they walked away from the stables 'yes, tea would be good' again he offered an arm for her the gesture was not meant to be refused. As they approached the house they witnessed Mr White shout angrily at her father and leave, DuBois grinned 'the competition has left it seems' he whispered.

As they approached DuBois turned and faced Nora - he paused then smiled 'I intend to ask for your hand - but will not do so until I am sure all my affairs are complete. You will promise me that you will dine at my house tonight.' he smiled and bowed 'by your leave madam?'

Then Nora realized it wouldn't be long until she had no escape from that marriage. This were going faster than she expected and Mr White being out of the picture, his father wouldn't wait for giving her hand away. But she had to go on with her plan and hopefully his "affairs" would not be completed soon. She'll have to know what they were and try to slow them down.

"Of course, I'll be pleased to join your dinner, my lord." she said. "But I'm afraid I will have to ask for my father's permission, and I don't know if he will agree." She was saying so, and she hoped he said no. She hoped his father didn't know him so well, as she didn't want to be alone at that man's house. There was still something strange in him. Besides, she didn't think it was really appropiate for a single lady to have dinner at other men's house, unless there was some kind of a party. Well, it could be the case.

"And, what is the occasion for the dinner? Are you having lots of people invited?", she went on asking, as they entered the house.

'oh it will be celibrate the conclusion of a long term plan' he smiled 'until tonight' he leaned down to kiss Nora's hand, turned and walked away whistling.

in the town, the stranger moved through the streets searching for signs, finally he found it - the five pointed star on a crate marked for the DuBois residence....

She watched him as he left. She wasn't sure about what to do now. Had he already asked her father? Because she wasn't sure about askim him herself because the words 'father, I've been invited to a dinner party' didn't sound right. She would talk to him, and see if he told him about the dinner.

She went inside and found his father sitting at his table.

"Greetings, father", she said bowing.

"Come here, Nora. I hope you have treated that man correctly, because I won't put up with any more of your foolishness".

"I have, father. I'm sorry for my past weeks behaviour. It is just I didn't find any of those men appealing. Mr Duboius seems a nice person, but he is quite strange, don't you think? He said he and Mr White were rivals for me. Why is it Mr White came out of the house so angry? He didn't seem the kind to shout at people..."

her father paced for a moment 'Mr White was not here to court you, he was representing his employer who would seek to employ you to look after his estate. I refused - a woman should marry and look after her own estate. So do you approve of Mr DuBois?' he looked hopefully, knowing that Nora's approval would help somewhat.

DuBois returned to his lodgings, removed his clothes and sank into the warm bath that was waiting for him. As the maid entered he erupted from the water shouting about the coldness of his bath and that repayment was demanded, naked he stalked to her.....

Me White finally met with his master and reported, disappointed the dark man simply smiled and touched White on the arm, White dissolved and formed a large Crow which returned to the strangers shoulder, cawing softly and taking a morsel of food offered by the man. Gently he stroked white before blending into the crowd milling in the town

"I'm not sure, father. I would like to get to know him better before deciding. As I said, he is a quite strange man", she thought about taking the chance to ask about dinner. "Father, has Mr. Dubois told you about his dinner party?".

"No, little lady. What dinner party?", he said.

"He is throwing a party tonight to celebrate something. He invited me to go...", she didn't want to ask him directly.

"I haven't been informed about any party, dear. We should have our messenger boy go to his manor to ask about it. Of course if he doesn't ask me propoerly, I can't let you go, you know that quite well.

"Yes, father, that is what I told him."

She kept thinking about Mr. White's task. "And, father, why do you think Mr. White's Lord would ask for me to take care of his state? Are we related to them in any way?", it didn't make sense at all in her mind.

Nora's father sat by the fire 'sit down my child' he whispered and sighed heavily. 'Mr DuBois has a reputation about London, he's only recently got this and wasn't in the social circles until recently. It isn't a good reputation...' he looked at his daughter with concern 'but he is very rich and has promised me that his reputation is over inflated and he will look after you so very well....' he reached out for her hand 'ever since your mother became ill - I've worried about you, it was when your mother first fell ill that we met Dr Hamilton, he's Mr Whites employer. Your mother recovered because of his care but she's not been the same since so you see I do owe him a debit, and he would look after you so very well. But.....'

He sighed - then looked p and smiled 'now what message do we send Mr DuBois?'

"Well, father, I think we have this two possible options, and we wouldn't like to be inconsiderate with any of those men...", she really didn't know what to do, but she had an intuition.

"I think we should ask Mr DuBois about his party, so he can send a proper message inviting us to his dinner. And we should also send a message to Mr. Hamilton, tell him that you may have been too quick in your considerations and that we will visit him soon to possibly reconsider his offer. We can then together decided which is best for me, what do you think?"

Nora knew now she didn't have any other option than to choose any of those men. If his father had promised his hand to Mr. Dubois he couldn't take it back, unless he had a greater owing with Dr. Hamilton. Nora didn't remember him, as she was quite young when her other got ill, but she guessed he would be an older man if he had taken care of her mother. He didn't like the idea of having to marry an old man, but she was suposed just to take care of his belongings, so I could possibly fit her wishes: getting a plce of her own without having to marry someone she didn't love.

Ten minutes later two message boys were heading to their destinations.

DuBois was incandescent - the servant had satisfied his carnal needs and his rage at first but the letter was an insult. The old fool was supposed to send her alone, only then could he plant the seeds of her downfall. He smashed a mirror with his fist, then stared at the pieces on the floor. They showed his true reflection - as only a broken mirror could.... He missed that form, the leathery skin, his talons.

DuBois calmed and walked back down with the return message - the boy was shaking and DuBois calmly advised him that it was a dinner for Miss Nora and her father to furthr discuss options for their union. No disrespect or confusion was intended naturally and he would understand if they were busy.....

By contrast - the messenger at the Hamilton residence was greeted by the Dr himself, a young man in his late 20s he smiled and thanked the messenger with a shilling - asking that Nora and her father come visit at their convinience. He remebered treating the mother - the disguise allowing him to watch little Nora grow, and had only recently taken on the aspect of the young Dr Hamilton - son of the now unfortunately deceased old Dr. As the messenger left he cooeed to Mr White, the crow and whispred 'it all works out in the end my friend'

When the boys got back, both father and daughter dicussed the situation. As Mr. Dubois invitation was for the night, and Mr Hamilton said they could go whenever they wanted, they decided to visit the latter in the afternoon and then head to Mr DuBois dinner.

Nora had to change to an afternoon dress, and she had some time to gather her thoughts. Afternoon was for bodices and skirts, in which Nora felt more confortable. Even if she was tight anyway, having two separate clothes let her move a little bit. While she was dressed she thought thru her plans. She would meet that Dr. Hamilton and see if he was at least nice. And then she would get her second view of Mr. DuBois. She wasn't sure about him. He was handsome and well educated, he was wealthy as her father had discovered and there was somthing in him that called for Nora, but there was still something in his eyes that she didn't understand.

Half an hour later, Nora and her father were announced at the Hamilton residence.

Hamilton had placed Mr White into his more human aspect, and it was he who opened the door, sullenly he waved the father and daughter into a small drawing room an went to summon the master. The room was small and untidy, a layer of dust covered the bookshelves. The only clean books were a copy of the Bible, an essay on Angels and Demons and a notebook.

Nora's father fussed at the dirt, worrying about the task proposed by the old doctor. So much so that he was standing with his back to the door when Dr Hamilton entered. He was young, around 30, with dark unkempt hair but smiling eyes of blue. He smiled showing his pearl white teeth and winked at Nora before clearing his throat and walking into the room. 'you must be the new cleaner' he grinned, paused and the beamed ' please a joke - welcome to my house - I think its as my father left it, I was loathed to move much of his clutter. He sends his regards and bids me to report back on miss Nora, who I see is looking in wonderful heath' he bent down to kiss Noras hand.

Nora was surprised to find such a handsome man.

"Pleased to meet you, Mr Hamilton. We were expecting your father...", she said, as she curtseyed, "but we are glad to meet you" she said giggling as she faced him again, her hand still surrounded by his.

They sat down and talked for some time as he explained what his father's plans for Nora were. She found it interesting that she didn't have to marry anybody to get a place to live. But of course her father didn't think it was suitable.

"So, Mr Hamilton, why don't you take care of the house?", finally her father asked, having in mind he should marry his daughter, that being the only way he could imagineher living there.

Hamilton flushed, naturally this would be a task of Miss Noras - to arange for the employment of a house keeper. I have only the good wishes of my father and the best of intentions for Miss Nora and would do anything to keep her safe and happy.' He fidgeted slightly in his chair, 'fathr says I need a woman in my life and as I have so very little confidence with women....' he blushed slightly. 'but father said that you may be interested in allowing Nora to experience more and I thought.....' he paused 'was I mistaken Miss Nora, I understood you were a fine strong young woman who would not be ontent with sewing groups?'

"Yes, I...", she was going to answer but her father interrupted her.

"But you know a girl has to marry, I would not like my daughter being just a housekeeer. Nora, get up, we have to leave or we will be late for our next meeting", he said, getting up and grabbing her daughter.

"Mr Hamilton, we are so thankful for your offer, but of course my daughter has so many suitors, and I have to look for her best option. I'll send a message boy tomorrow with our reply. We are very thankful."

Soon enough they were in their carriage heading towards Mr DuBois mansion. Nora had tried to talk to her father during the trip, but he ordered her to keep quiet and behave nicely.

Some minutes later they were waiting at Mr. Dubois entrance.
