That said, have you talked to her about it? In a calm, rational manner? In a safe and soothing environment outside of the bedroom? Expressed with no complaint or pressure, but instead a desire to understand? Thing is: people here can endlessly speculate about a variety of reasons why she might be reluctant: religious inhibitions, hygiene/grooming issues (including bad taste or smell), poor self image/confidence, past negative experiences/trauma,....the list could go on and on.

If she'll do it when she's drunk it's a mental thing. For some reason her brain is telling her not to do it.
She needs to be made very comfortable with the idea of doing it if you're to have any chance at all. (In short, YOU can't make her changer her mind.)

Failing that, just get her drunk again.

Do not go this route if you have - and want to maintain- a good relationship with your wife.

There could be a number of reasons for her being reluctant.

If you smoke (anything), eat spicy foods, take drugs, etc. this can affect your taste. She might not appreciate that factor and when drunk she might be able to overlook it. Likewise if you are less than fresh (after a workout would probably not be the best time to request, unless she is into sweat).

Good girls aren't supposed to ... is ingrained in little girls' heads all their lives. If they don't hear it from their mother then they hear it from their classmates as they are growing up. Some religions even repress certain behaviors without ever actually mentioning what behaviors are to be avoided. So there could be a stigma attached to the act, in which case the alcohol factor can make her forget about it for awhile.

My suggestion is to try to figure out if there are other factors than the alcohol that might put her at ease. Incorporate more of those into your lifestyle.

I also agree with you can't change her mind. You can talk about it and have some good communication on the subject but you aren't going to change her mind.
