Our Setting:
The world of Westeros as envisioned by author George R.R. Martin from the popular A Song of Ice and Fire series as well as HBO's Original Series Game Of Thrones. Our story, however, will not follow the cast of characters as they exist within those media. Our story will be of our own making, of our own characters, and with our own conclusions.

Update
The story thread has started. The link is http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=759147

Geography
Our story will take place within the Northern Realm, particularly the fortified city of Winterfell. Castle Black and the Wall have fallen to invasion from the mysterious race known throughout the Westeros as The Others and their huge horde of undead wights. United against this threat, although precariously so, the Great Houses have come together in an attempt to repulse this thread and push it beyond the borders of The Wall.

Key Notes:
The Wall - Is a massive fortified wall of stone and ice that protects the civilized Kingdom from the inhabitants of the Frozen North (namely the wildings, wights, and The Others). It has several gates and fortifications that were severely undermanned during the time of the invasion and was overrun by The Others. Retaking The Wall, and securing it, is the foremost concern at the start of our story.

Winterfell - Home to the House Stark, Winterfell is a castle lain upon the King's Road between King's Landing (the Capital) and Castle Black. It was built upon a massive Hot Spring which is used to heat the grounds and the walls, which are as high as one-hundred feet tall.

Castle Black - The largest fortification and part of The Wall, Castle Black has been entirely overrun by the time of our story. There were only six survivors, of a couple hundred, of the Night's Watch and their stories of the horrors done by The Others within the walls have become the source of nightmares throughout the armies of Westeros.

Night's Watch - The fabled guard of Castle Black and The Wall, the Night's Watch is a volunteer force that is notorious for its dedication to duty. However, by the start of our story, it is almost entirely wiped out. The thin ranks of its reserve, while talented as killers and soldiers, were seldom given reinforcements due to several unique factors. Night's Watch members refuse the right to own land, marry, or father sons.

Characters Available
While not exclusive to these factions; prospective writers are encouraged to create characters from within these particular factions. Character designs, allegiances, and intentions will be worked out within this thread and subject to approval. (IE. Borat the Dragon Rider will not be allowed to take part.)

House Stark -
Rulers of the North, set within Winterfell, the House Stark is the most isolated from King's Landing (approximately three months ride through desolate, difficult territory) and keepers of The Wall. The climate of The North is bitterly cold, even in summer, save for the narrow stretch of nearly impassable swampland that separates it from the rest of Kingdom.

The House Stark's emblem is the ferocious Dire Wolf and their religion is that of the Old Gods (the only Great House of the realm to follow such). They are considered ancestors of the First Men, born from the Age of Heroes, and are known as reserved people with a disdain for politics, a strict code of honor and duty, and fearless warriors.

The nobles from the realm are typically tall, dark-haired, and pale-eyed. They typically dress in leathers and furs and the men are seldom without sword.

House Arryn -
House Arryn of the Eyrie is the principal noble house in the Vale. Their main seat is the Eyrie, but they have many other holdings. Their sigil is a white moon-and-falcon on a sky-blue field, and their words are "As High as Honor." Their line dates back to the old Andal nation that invaded Westeros. Usually marrying other Andal nobles, House Arryn to this day has the purest line of Andal nobility.

Eyrie is a mountain city that can be reached only during certain seasons along treacherous roads. Wild Mountain Clans and Bandits frequent the passes, further complicating travel, making trips to and from Eyrie harrowing affairs. The Andal Knights, upon landing in the Vale, scaled the cliffs and defeated the First Men that held the city.

The nobles from the realm are typically brown haired and brown eyed, tall and proud.

House Baratheon -
House Baratheon of Storm's End is the principal house in the Stormlands. Its seat is Storm's End. Its sigil is a crowned black stag on a field of gold, and its words are "Ours is the Fury."

Baratheon was the youngest of the original great houses, tracing its descent from Orys Baratheon, one of Aegon I's fiercest generals, and rumored to be his bastard brother. Through the female line, the Baratheons are descended from the Storm Kings, as Orys slew Argilac the Arrogant, last of the Storm Kings, and married his daughter. Orys adopted the sigil and words of his wife's ancestral line. The line of the Storm Kings dates back to the Age of Heroes when their kingdom was founded by King Durran I "Godsgrief", a legendary hero. After the War of the Usurper, the house claimed the Iron Throne in King's Landing and the Isle of Dragonstone, with the support of House Stark, House Tully, House Arryn, and, eventually, House Lannister.

The attributes of the Noble house are not distinguishable by any true look. This, in itself, makes them distinguishable sometimes from the other houses.

House Tyrell -
House Tyrell of Highgarden is the principal noble house in the Reach; many lesser houses are sworn to them. Their seat is at Highgarden, a castle near the Mander river. Their sigil is a golden rose on a green field, and their words are "Growing Strong."

The Tyrells trace their line of descent, through the female line, to the legendary Garth Greenhand, the first King of the Reach in the Age of Heroes. The Tyrells were stewards to House Gardener, the ancient ruling line of Kings of the Reach, who periodically intermarried with lower ranking houses of the Reach such as Tyrell or Florent. After House Gardener was extinguished in the War of Conquest, the Tyrells surrendered Highgarden to the Targaryens. For their service they were created lords paramount in the Reach and Wardens of the South.

Nobles of House Tyrell typically have curly brown, or reddish-brown hair, and are tall with strong features. They are fond of wearing beards.

House Lannister -
House Lannister of Casterly Rock is the principal house of the Westerlands. Their principle seat is Casterly Rock. Their sigil is a golden lion on a field of crimson, and their words are "Hear Me Roar!" Their unofficial motto, just as well known, states, "A Lannister always pays his debts."

The Lannisters descend from Andal adventurers who married the daughters of the King of the Rock. The King himself descended from Lann the Clever, a legendary trickster from the Age of Heroes who tricked the Casterlys into giving him Casterly Rock. The Lannisters reigned as Kings of the Rock until the Targaryen conquest. The Lannisters surrendered and were allowed to remain the paramount lords of the westerlands.

During the Lordship of Tytos Lannister the House fell on hard times. Tytos' weakness allowed him to be bullied by his vassals. Eventually his son Tywin Lannister restored the house to it's former glory. The Lannisters are the richest family in the Seven Kingdoms, due in large part to the many gold mines under their control. House Lannister once possessed an ancestral Valyrian sword called Brightroar; but it has been lost.

During Robert's Rebellion, the Lannisters stayed neutral for the majority of the war. Only after the defeat of Rhaegar at the Trident did the Lannisters join Robert Baratheon agains the Targaryen dynasty and sacked King's Landing. There Jaime Lannister, a member of the Kingsguard, slew the last crowned Targaryen king.

Nobles of House Lannister are typically handsome, with blonde hair and striking features.

House Greyjoy -
House Greyjoy is the principal noble house on the Iron Islands; many lesser ironborn houses are sworn to them. Their seat is at Pyke. Their sigil is a golden kraken on a black field, and their words are "We Do Not Sow."

The House descends from the legendary Grey King in the Age of Heroes. The Greyjoys became Lords Paramount of the Iron Isles after the Targaryen conquest, when Aegon I allowed the ironborn to choose who would have primacy over them. They chose Vickon Greyjoy and his line.

The Greyjoy's, in our story, have begun to make gestures to regain themselves within the Kingdom. They are untrusted. Inordinately wealthy. And extremely formidable as a Great House. Unknown to the other Lords, and the King himself, they have kept the largest and most powerful portion of their Army within the Iron Islands and committed only a fraction of their force to the battles in The North.

So, begin discussion and role claiming. Character biographies should include a brief history, a summation of their current situation including allegiances and loyalties. Their ambitions may be hinted, or kept secret, as you desire.

Name: Domnall Robert Stark ( Commonly referred to as "Dom" by those that would call him friend. )
Age: 29 Years
Height: 6'7"
Weight: 230 lbs
Titles: Lord of Winterfell, Lord Paramount of the North, Warden of the North

Family
Connor Stark - Father (Deceased )
Rebecca Stark - Mother ( Deceased )
Illiana Stark - Wife ( Deceased )
Liam Connor Stark - Son - ( Age 6 )

History
Raised in accordance with House Stark traditions, Domnall excelled in his pursuits of soldiering and hunting. The rank assigned to him by his father was seen to be earned from a young age, where even as a boy he was known to display sometimes reckless passion for battle and a will for victory under duress. The world of Domnall Stark, however, came crashing down when The Others unleashed an assault upon the poorly manned bastions of The Wall and breached its towering barrier.

Accompanying his father into battle, Domnall fought admirably before his father's death in a victory that temporarily halted The Other's advance and hurried his inheritance as Lord of House Stark. An only child, Domnall has known only commitment to the cause and fealty towards the crown. It is his unconcealed ambition to push The Others from his father's lands, cleanse them of wights and those wildlings that have crossed The Wall in their shadow, and return House Stark's reputation as diligent protectors.

The House Stark, however, is not a wealthy house. It's meager assets come mostly from the large pine forest that flanks the frozen plain surrounding Winterfell and are almost entirely spent ensuring the security of the Kingdom's northern border. Domnall Stark is a reserved, austere man whom is notoriously short of words and resolute in action. This has become more the case following the invasion of his homeland and the tragic loss of his wife, Illiana, to fever. It is said that while his needs are tended by concubines and consorts, he has particular tastes. He turns away women with red hair, finding them but a shadow of his late wife, to whom his heart is still devoted.

Domnall's son, Liam, is a handsome boy of six who is raised under his father's strict, but loving, hand. He has been spirited Southward, under care of the House Reed, in secret.

The Lord of Stark wields an obsidian-steel roundshield and longsword. He is accompanied, almost always, by his massive Dire Wolf "Wight's Bane".

Age: 47 Years
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 195 lbs
Titles: Commander of the Night's Watch

Brief: Robert Stark is Domnall's half-uncle, a man of great influence on his life and upbringing. Robert is considered by most to be the very picture of a Noble man. Just, wise, and fair, Robert's watch on the wall was tireless even as his resources dwindled. He was killed defending Castle Black from The Others and their Wights. Even dead, his presence will be felt in Domnall's life. The void left in his absence seems a daunting one to fill.

Name: Callisto Dianea Greyjoy ( Most often referred to as Calli by those closest to her. )
Age: 24
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 135 lbs
Titles: Beauty of the Iron Islands, Lady of Greyjoy, The Compassionate Maiden

Family:
Lord Arthion Greyjoy - Father (Lord of the House Greyjoy)
Lady Isabella Greyjoy - Mother (Deceased)
Arthion Greyjoy II - Elder Brother (Deceased)
Marcus Gorell - Husband (Deceased)
Isabella Rhea Greyjoy - Daughter (Age 5)

History:

Known amongst the lesser Houses of her Kingdom as The Compassionate Maiden because of her kindness and good deeds - she is known for being nothing like her politically minded father. Married off at sixteen to the highest bidder, she lived by the ideal that it was the duty of the noble Houses to serve their people just as much as they are served by their people. It was an ideal that neither her husband nor her father agreed with. When, two years after their arranged marriage, her husband was assassinated in the streets of Pyke, Callisto was left a widow at the young age of eighteen. It is rumored that she and her late husband, Marcus Gorell, had a daughter - but no attempts to prove or disprove that rumor have been successful.

Now, six years later, her father has taken to using his daughter as a pawn once more. This time it's not money that he's after, but more power. House Stark is known for it's warrior men, it's soldiers are revered as some of the best in all the lands. And Lord Arthion has set his sights on marrying his daughter off to Lord Domnall Stark. He has issued his daughter an order - marry Lord Stark, or don't bother coming back to Pyke. He expects that Lord Stark will fall in love with his beautiful daughter, and he fully expects that once they are wed - his daughter will maintain her loyalty to House Greyjoy and betray Lord Stark to her father.

Callisto does not know of her father's plans for betrayal. She knows only that she's been cast out of her home and given orders to complete a 'mission' given her by her ruthless and cruel father. But she is a smart girl. She has spent many years exposed to her father's conniving and deceptive ways. It's very likely that she has her suspicions regarding his motives for sending her to House Stark.

And what of the unanswered questions?

Will Lady Greyjoy reveal the political plans her father has set in motion?
Does The Compassionate Maiden really have a young daughter?
And when the time comes for betrayal - will Callisto do as her father destires, or will her heart already belong to Domnall Stark?

Only time will tell.

Lady Greyjoy's Companion(s)

Name: Aramir Greyjoy
Age: 45
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 185 lbs
Titles: Captain of the First Regiment

Brief: Aramir Greyjoy was twenty-one years when he was assigned the task of protecting the baby that would grow to become Lady Callisto Greyjoy. From the time of her birth to present, he has divided his time between seeing to her safety and overseeing the First Regiment of the armies of the Iron Islands. The youngest of Lord Greyjoy's brothers, he has taken great pride in seeing to his niece's safety, education and martial training, though the latter was done without the knowledge of his brother. He is extremely protective of his niece, though a man of seldom words, and is found to be more like Callisto than Lord Greyjoy in mannerisms and morals both. Amongst his men he is revered as a great warrior, and he is both protectorate and confidante for the Lady Greyjoy. He knows a great many of her secrets - including those that she keeps from even her father.

I had a thought.

Perhaps we should start the actual RP after the battle with the Others. I only say this because everything prior can be set up in the initial intro post. Not to mention, it is after the war when things begin to get juicy anyway. If we start before we may lost people due to disinterest because it's all intros and meetings. We can get those out of the way with one intro post at the beginning and then one by each player to mark what has happened and where they are going story-wise.

Another thought.

I think it would be wise to make sure all the larger houses are represented before we begin. Maybe even two people per house or connected to the main house in some way. That will make sure that no one feels left out and has no one to rp with. I realize it's tough for people to step up and put themselves out there sometimes.

OR

We could all be connected to House Stark somehow. That way everyone is connected and we all have a reason to be in the same area. I'm not sure on this one, just an idea to toss in the bucket.

Let me know what you guys and gals think.

When you say that you think it would be a good idea to have all the large Houses represented - which houses exactly are we looking to have represented? I'm looking for a ballpark number.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not shooting down your idea, I'm just looking at the logicality of it. If you're meaning, let's say, 6 houses. And you want at least two representatives for each house - you're looking for 12 different RPers, easily.

And then the question becomes - how long do we wait for people to sign up, how long do we let this idea just sit here and fester and not get written about while we wait for a certain number of people to be interested in the RP idea?

Do you see where I'm going with that?

In regards to everybody being attached to House Stark - I suppose that would be up to L.I. I think that personally tying every single person to House Stark poses a small handful of problems.

A) The person(s) playing members of House Stark become the heavily centralized part of the story. Which means that if L.I. were to disappear for a few days - he'd leave who knows what number of people unable to continue a story without him.
B) It's likely to lessen the broader spectrum of the story. If everybody is tied to House Stark - then there's no furthering of the storyline in terms of trying to take the Throne, for example. It's all centralized around House Stark, then, and not the rest of the story lines that could be explored.

I think that in order for this to really work successfully - everybody can't be overly dependent on everyone else posting. Does that make sense? For example - though there's a larger story in play - there's a smaller, side-bar story taking place between Domnall Stark and Callisto Greyjoy. I assume there are going to be other, offshoot stories as well. In fact, that's sort of the meat of what makes up a good story with many different characters - an offshoot to pay attention to this group of characters, and then this group before back to the whole and such.

Do you get what I mean?

Just a few thoughts of my own. :)

Not unreasonable at all. ;)

The main houses would depend on who we get to play them. Ideally I would think 3-4 would be enough. They don't ALL need to be represented. We've obviously already got Stark and Greyjoy. I was planning on taking Martell myself, just working on the bio. I mean when I say "main", that's really what we make of it since it's an AU. The main houses are the ones we choose, not necessarily what they were in the books.

As far as being attached to house Stark, I see how that can get overly complicated. It was just a notion, and obviously a poor one at that.

I certainly like the idea of beginning the thread just after the war's conclusion, with the Noble houses gathered if only for a limited time at Winterfell.

Yes Yes, five-thousand times over YES! I was hoping somebody would start a thread like this at some point. However and woulden't it make sence for House Tully or their vassals to be avalable as well?

Ser Areon of House Damihell (The Wyvren/Brother) [Age 28]

-----

History; For a great long while, House Damihell had been a key force in the contiuned health of the Seven Kingdoms. Created by the first Andal Storm Kings to the leader of of a troop of Old Valyrian mercinaries for their loyal service in the conquest, the Damihells where blessed with rich soil and the thick forests of what would oneday be the Kingswood. From this bases, they built a thriving port known as Haven, and build up their wealth and influnce from raising the finest sails on this side of the narrow sea and selling them out as sell-sails for houses with pirate troubles (espcially those near the Iron Isles) and later to the Free Cities.

When the Targaryan Dynstey began to esablish itself on Dragonstone, the Damihells where one of the first houses to recognize it, and build up solid relations with the Old Valyria they had left behind, bringing in a vast majority of immigrants who choose to come. There wealth only continued to grow, as they got more and calls from the Gardeners and Lords of the Rock to defend their shores from Iron Islesmen, and the southern Stormland states in the skirmishs agenst the Dornish. As silver flowed into their coffers, they where able to buy out some of their less rich neighbors, and slowly the holdings of Damihell, centered on the castle of Damihell itself, grew only larger.

The house went into an economic slump with the Doom of Valryia, trade taking a huge downturn and the western lords almost giving up on trying to stop the Iron Isles. However, a stroke of luck seemed to come when the Aegon the Conquerer landed in Blackwater Bay, prepared to conquer the Seven Kingdoms. Since they completly lacked a navy, Damihell rented them theirs at a cheap price, and as lands came under Targaryan control more and more trade flowed to Haven, as ships coming out of there diden't seem to get raided. For their loyal service, Aegon granted House Damihell the privlage of being to offical coinage producer of the Seven Kingdoms, and with a commison coming in from each sack of dragons, stags, and pennies, the house grew richer until it was basically de-facto ruler of the Northern Stormlands.

Once the Iron Isles fell (with much help from the Damihell fleet), they sell-sail busniess went by the wayside, with only the occasional boats floating over to the Free Cities for some war or another. Insteed, Damihell turned to building up the fleet for the Targaryan navy, and became the forth largest port in the Seven Kingdoms, below only Oldtown, Gulltown, and King's Landing itself. Stark supporters of House Targaryan, they continued to rise and grow for the next couple hundred years, until the fateful day The War of the Ursaper began.

As a vassal house to House Barthean and loyal to the Dragonking, Damihell suffered a crippling cival war within its own borders for quite awhile, its troops and gold tied up so the Iron Throne could not use it. However, when the writing came on the wall, they choose to remain nutreal, and saved themselves from loyalest pillaging.

The House has been on a slight decline ever since then, with their sails only needed during Greyjoy's Rebellion, which where mainly employed by the Greyjoys. (The bases for this, nonwithstanding, was that Pyke had sworn loyalty to the Dragon, not the Stag, and thus was free to leave the compact). Still, King Robert grudginly accepted that Damihell must continue to produce the coin (though Lannisport was pressing for the privlages). Though they've cuddled up to the new king as much as they can, along with his brother as their leige lord, old blood dies hard, and if they Targaryans should return, it would be difficult to know which way they would turn.

Damihells' current objectives are to recover their good standing. To do so, they seek alliances with those they have been friends with before (The Iron Isles), those who are powerful (The North and The Reach), and those who admire their heritage them (Very few remain, with the possable exception of the missing Targryan heirs. Should they arrive in Damihell, they could easly gain amnisty). As the second son, it is Cana's job to make those alliances. Will he be able to? Perhaps Damihell can convince House Bartheon that the Royal Family would do well with two Lords and give the Stormlands to them?

There crest is a lavender male dragon standing guerd over a reclining female dragon of the same color on a striped feild of tawny and black. There words are Blood of my Brother, Blood of my Sister

Personal History

As the second son of a powerful house, Cana's future was rather open. He might end up inheriting, espcially once his older brother became a knight, or he might simply need to be a diplomat. As a child, he was obsessed with manners of trade, once escaping on a merchent cog set for Myr until he was rescued by the Damihell Flagship Twin-tailed Wyvren . Since then, however, he was convinced to focus on more domestic and noble persuits, such as the blade (which he hatted and asked his master of arms to train him in the ball and chain instead. His father had no objections). Still, he never became a master of arts martial, and prefers the more intriguing persuits of diplomacy and the arts. Indeed, he is quite talented with the flute, and also knows a varity of intresting tales from across the narrow sea. Indeed, he had gone there a few times to oversee major trade agreements (mostly in Lys, but also Myr and even the cities of Old Ghis).

However, he soon grew bored in the courst of Damihell; too many merchents and not enough nobles. So, his father seeked deceided to put into motion a diplomatic effort to secure the glory of Damihell, with his first target being The North. With a retinue of guerds and supplies, he seeks not only to move Northern trade back to sea, but to secure an agreement with the most powerful lord (other then the King, of course) for their mutual benefit and security. Granted, Cana is not paritcularly fond of this idea, but if it means Damihell might rise again, he is more then willing to try.

Personality

Raised as the proper son of an old and powerful house, Cana is a stikler for properity. Men carry a wepon (except into a sept), woman don't wear armor, people use manners, bread and salt are the only acceptable guest rites, ect. While this can make him quite a pain do deal with, he follows his own rules in kind and thus will treat you fairly and never say something he dosen't intend to be taken as it is (now, misunderstandings...). However, he still has some of the adventerous spirt he had when he was a child, and can be willing to take it out if he knows he can justify it to himself sometime afterwords.

Accompanyment

Zeelan- 31, male, dark skined, hedge knight origonally an immigrant from the Summer Islands. Very free-flowing and subtle

Acantos- 26, male, lithe build and gaunt face, a velvet blade from Barbosa, a deicated master of the blade and sworn sword of Damihell. Very introverted

Edward Damihell- 19, male, extremly broad but with a large beard, one of Cana's cousains, who is one of the rare masters of the Myrish crossbow; a wepon that fires three bolts at once. A hearty eater, but dosen't drink wine.

Rings- 20, male, a toungeless formor smallfolk raised up the role of Cana's primery servingman. Named for the twenty brass rings he wears on his fingers and toes.

Maester Zeek- 52, male, a rather small man, but soild for his side, one of the rare masters who have dedicated themselves to the steel link of warefare, a general in every sence of the word. Has served as an admeral for Damihell's fleet for twenty years and has not yet lost a battle with the pirates. Proud, yet with a hint of insanity

Captain Marcus- 43, male, completly hairless with a barrel chest, Captain of the War-Cog Cutter Wyvren Flying , the transport for the Damihell party. Can't keep his mouth shut and tends to talk down to woman

Lady Tabith- 17, female, smooth and so delicatly built she looks like she'd break in the wind. Third child of Damihell and a proper young lady in every sence of the word.

Welcome Swordandsandle. I liked your beginning and the element you're bringing to the table.

Thank you, I look forward to contributing. And I promise my spelling will get better.

I just hope I'm not taking to many liberties with my house. I was just thinking a psudo pro-Targryan element would be useful, especially if we get a cival war rumbling.

My main issue, though, is I think we need to start before the cival war. After all; that war only happened becuse of cannon actions (Edward Stark dosen't seem to exist in here, which basically throws the whole first book out the window). A fresh slate seems neccisery.

I think that we can focus on the actions of our own characters, within this setting, without having to explain in detail the actions of others. It'll require a suspension of disbelief on the part of our crew of writers but I do not think that will be impossible.

When I begin our Story I will acknowledge the death of the King in battle, though whether battle was the true cause will remain undetermined. We will use the invasion of The Others as the reason for the Houses to gather and the power vacuum as a measure to draw conflict.

Also, assume the Targaryen King that was betrayed and killed was within a generation ago.

Your house seems suitable. I like the angle you have decided to take.

Hey guys,
I know this is one long-arsed, detailed bio. But I do have a reason for doing it this way.

Being of the House of Lannister, I had to some how create a new character whilst retaining the world of the novels...as there is a Queen Lannister. So, I hope that what I have done here is create a balance between the novel and my created role.

If it isn't what you want, tell me. I will keep it and use it for a story idea, as this took me far too long just to throw away.

I have deliberately kept my character an open/flexible role in regards to allies/enemies. I have done this because I have no clue what other roles are coming. I can change things as more bio's come.

Again, sorry if this isn't what you want. I am happy to change whatever you need.

Shy -

It might serve as an interesting little story bit if my character and my character happened to be friends. Not allies in the political sense - but rather friends. Perhaps they met as very young children and the bond remained, or perhaps they met when they were older and something has helped them to keep their friendship strong. If you're interested, we can discuss some details via PM. Message me if the idea appeals to you.

:)

I'm just waiting on Soru to post up his character and then I'll be comfortable with starting us off.

Just as a comment; I find Shy's bio to be a bit unrealistic. If she was raised by the Lannisters and not warded out at all, there is very little chance that she'd have the personality she does. Furthermore, I'm not sure how her father would let her stay with that persoanlity since; as she is now heir, she'd get the Westerlands eaten alive. Damihell and the Iron Isles, certainly, would take a swipe at the first chance they got. Then again, that might be what you where going for.

I feel that because we're giving the writers a chance to make their own story, from their own background, that it suits enough to have a contrasting Lannister within the story.

Oh man, a Westeros roleplay? Awesomesauce... I think you are still recruiting? If so, perhaps a confidant/e for Stark would be admitted? A schemer to Dom´s straightforwardness, someone he can trust to look around people´s backs while Dom looks them in the face?

Failing that, perhaps a protector for the Lady Lannister?

Whereas someone working for Dom is probably someone he trusts because of merit, and not because of lineage, the Lannisters surely put some importance on being a noble, from a minor house at the very least?

Apassionateflame,

I love that idea a lot; two houses not at war but childhood friends...very interesting. I will PM you later. :)

Swordandsandle,

It was my deliberate point to make a starkly contrasting Lannister. I wanted to make the impression that being the world's richest house doesn't result in kingdom power. I wanted it to have a reasonable vulnerability going in, having a great deal of pressure on her shoulders all because of some family ill choices.

She wasn't ever raised by the Lannisters, but in an orphanage. I created her father to be the opposite of the Lannisters as well. I have reasons why she is the way she is personality wise, and why her father needs her in this position. A father can not make her change personalities...that in itself is unrealistic.

She is going to the meeting to find a protector, since she knows very well she cannot do it herself. Sorry if this wasn't clear.

So, my point being, with all that said, what exactly are you wanting me to change?

I'm not saying you have to change anything; just that I diden't think it was realistic. I was simply giving my opinion and perhaps convince you to change it yourself, but I respect your creative rights and control. Indeed, I crafted a new major house out of thin air, so I'm not going to be by the book by any means

I'm totally onboard with this-I'm definitely going to create a character. It seems you're setting it after the scope of the events in the so-far published books. Should we just try to use the world of Westeros and ignore the actual events? Maybe I'm just concerned about having a unified backstory, and it may not be that important. But a big part of what makesA Song of Ice and Fire compelling is the political climate, and I'd like this thread to have some of the same elements-it's going to need a Littlefinger or a Tywin Lannister type who is ruthless, cunning, and ambitious. That's probably going to be the type of character I write.

Should we just avoid referencing events from the main storyline of the series, or should we let that be a part of our character back stories?

Well that fact that you said anything seems to suggest the contrary. I am not taking this personally or in an emotional manner, I am just trying to understand where changes need to be made and what to. I am open for criticism as long as it is validated and suggestions given on where to improve.

Is it simply because my depiction of a Lannister in this thread isn't what it is in the novel?

No, I'm saying that your depiction of a noble heir isen't what it is in the bounds of poltical reason in any setting. At the risk of sounding Macavelian, you're character is too liberal with their funds to deal effictivly in the Game of Thrones. Logic would dictate that the head of the house would be focused primerly on his house's welfare, and would be teaching his heir to do the same. If she woulden't do it, he'd be obligated to sire a son and kick her out of the line of sucession (if she was ever legitimized to began with). Historically, and noble who acted like you did would be destroyed by outside forces with more resources under their direct control or a well trained army that could drive any smallfolk foot you could muster into the ground. Noblity just dosen't last that way, and I wanted to make you aware of the full concequences a character like that would have.

Fair enough. If I can make it into a character more realistic but keep it to one I actually want to play, I will re-edit it and see how that goes. If not, perhaps it is best the group find a player who is more up to the role of being a political powerhouse. :)

Thank you for clarifying.
