Max Stevenson was already a successful businessman at a young age. He had taken over from his father after his passing. A few years later he had nearly doubled the family wealth. The corperation was still fairly new. His father had started his first business when Max was a child. He had grown up in a middle class family and had a number of friends. When things had started taking off Max was already nearing the end of high school. He decided to go to college for a business degree and learn to improve on his father's work.

Only a few years after graduating with a masters degree in business administration his father died from a heart attack. Max took over everything as the president of Stevenson corp. Keeping many of his father's old business models in place, but adding his own, as well as investing well, the value of the corperation grew steadily. He was soon known by all those in the corperate world. A very wealthy, successful man.

Max had a nice house, but nothing too fancy. He didn't want to show off, plus he liked smaller homes like the one he had grown up in. When he had kids he wanted them to have a great childhood and learn about life without becomming snobs. He didn't want money to ruin his family. Not that he had a family yet. The one thing he had always desired, but never found was love, and family. He longed for the day when he would find the woman of his dreams and marry her, then raise a family together.

Max arrived home one day and parked his car in the garage. He went and checked his home phone messages. Most were standard and he made notes of who to call. Then he heard from an old friend of his. It was interesting news. His friend was telling him of another childhood friend who had come on hard times. Angel. He remembered her very well. They had been good friends and had kept some contact over the years. He quickly went to his computer and sent her an email telling her that he was willing to help her out. If there was anything she needed, anything at all, he would be happy to help her with it. He sent the email and decided to call her the next day if he didn't get a response back from her. He couldn't stand the thought of a friend of his being in trouble.

Angel had been a model for many years of course the time finally came where the company had decided to go a different way. Instead of women models they were now interested in men. She knew this was coming, especially since the company was now under new ownership. Of course this was going to cause much more trouble for her though, then just loosing a job.

Her job had been her life for many years. It was how she managed to pay for her condo every month, it was what put food on the table and kept clothes on her back. The eviction notice had already come, she had a week left to move. She hated this, she had no family to turn to. Of course Jill had told her she could crash at her place for a little while...but Jill had three kids and a husband she didn't need to be taking care of her as well.

Getting home after spending all day out looking for a job she flipped her computer on and walked into the kitchen, kicking of her shoes she walked over and turned on the coffee pot. These were the simple things she enjoyed. Being able to come home, check her emails and have a cup of coffee.

Going back over to the computer she pulled up her emails. Seeing an email from Max she checked it right away, of course there was his number at the bottom of the page. Grabbing her phone off of the desk she went to call him. Hearing the phone ring a few times it finally went to voice mail.

"Hey Max its Angel......"

She paused wondering if he could hear her, wondering if he would pick up. Oh how she would love to be able to catch up with an old friend right now and just relax for a little while.

After sending the email to Angel, Max continued his usual routine. He quickly opened a file showing the latest stock changes, spent a minute looking at them carefully, marking down things to do to his portfolio, then filing it away. He placed a call to his stock broker and informed the man of the next changes to happen in the morning once the market re-opened. With that done he left his computer and picked up a book on his way to a comfortable chair.

He sat and read for an hour. He thought it was important to read things that were not work based. He also loved the feeling of having an actual book in his hands. He owned both an i pad and a kindle, but they were used more to store his book collections in case of fire than for anything else. He had a very large book case in his bedroom that was stuffed completely with books. He also had book cases in one of the spare rooms and in the living room. There was very little space for any more books. It would soon come time for him to choose some books to give to charity. Many people asked him why he didn't just buy a bigger house with a room for a library, but he didn't want a massive house and he liked being able to give away the books to other people when he needed more space. He also had every book he had ever owned stored on his i pad and kindle.

When he was done reading he got up and went into the kitchen. It was time to make dinner. He turned on the over and then took a couple of vegetables to the sink. He turned on the water and washed them. As he was doing that the phone rang. He didn't hear it until it was the last ring. He shut off the water and went over to the phone. The voice he heard coming through the speaker made him smile. He quickly reached down and picked up the reciever.

"Hi Angel. It is nice to hear from you. I'm guessing you got my email. How are you?"

He held the phone between his head and shoulder as he returned to the kitchen counter and started to chop the vegetables. He wondered if there was anything he could do for Angel. He wanted to be able to help her.

A soft smile touched her lips when she heard his voice. It was so nice hearing it again, she had missed him so much. But over the years it seemed their schedules did not mix to well, so they were never really able to get together that much.

"Well I am alive...Things are complicated right now though....How are you Max?"

That was one thing Angel had always been good at. Answering the question but never really giving the entire answer. Just enough to resolve the curiosity that was there. She had always had big dreams and now it seemed as if those dreams were blowing up in her face.

Walking into her kitchen she poured herself a cup of coffee adding in sugar and milk and a few ice cubes. Just enough so she could drink it with out burning her lips or her tongue.

Max continued making his dinner as he spoke with Angel. He could easily multi task. At least when it was something like making a meal he made all the time. His hands moved on auto pilot and his focus was on talking to Angel. She gave him a very vague answer. He shook his head and forced himself not to laugh. That was definitely a classic Angel thing to do. Luckily he had heard from Jill and knew enough details. She of course asked how he was doing.

"I am doing just fine. The corperation is building up as always. More and more things going on. I want to talk about you though. How are you really doing? I want to know details. I want to help you. Jill sent me an email explaining a little. If there is anything at all I can do, and I really mean anything. You know I have the resources."

He'd spoken with some seriousness. He didn't want it turning into a casual call between friends. He was really concerned about her. If he let her shrug off her problems then she would have some bigger problems. Problems that she could have easily avoided.

Angel

Angel was lost for words as she stood there. The coffee cup falling into the sink as she heard his words. He was always to kind to her. Swallowing hard she took a deep breath before saying anything.

"Unless you can give me a place to live till I can figure out what it is I am going to do next then no you can't help. I was laid off of work, I am being evicted, and I have no where to go."

The words seemed to rush out of her as she spoke them. She hated this, being the one who needed help and not having her life together. What was she thinking going into modeling, that was not a career it was a hobby she condemned herself as she stood there. Her breathing was increasing the more upset she became and sure enough a few tears fell from her eyes.

Max listened to her request. He really would have given her anything she had asked for. Even if it had been a joke. He'd give her money, or a job, or whatever it was she felt she needed. She said she needed a place to stay. He smiled. That was easy. He just wondered how he should do that for her. He could pay her rent, or rent her a new place. However, he figured she might also want to be near friends, so his spare rooms would do perfectly.

"Angel, I want to offer you my spare rooms. You can come stay at my house as long as you want. I will help you move all your stuff and you can use my two spare rooms for a bedroom and somewhere to keep your things."

He left it at that for the moment. Later he would help her find a job. He'd make sure she got back on her feet. He didn't tell her because he worried she might say no, thinking he was doing too much. He wondered if there might be possible jobs for her within his corperation. There had to be some in one of the businesses. He'd have to work on that later.

Angel sat there a little dumb founded. Of course she should have known it was Max, he had always been kind to her to all of his friends taking in a deep breath before she spoke she smiled to herself.

"Ok Max... Thank you, you have no idea how much this means to me... When ever you are ready, my things are already packed."

She said with slow breaths and a calm voice. She hated this, the fact that she was now dependent on another after having been independent for so long.

Max was relieved when Angel agreed to his offer. He was happy she would allow him to help her. He just wished he had a better car to use to move all her stuff. He wasn't sure how much she might have. If they had to take two trips it would be fine. He nodded to himself. "Great. I can head over there now. I'll just clear a few things out of the two rooms and then get on the road. I should be there soon. I'll see you then." They said their goodbyes and he hung up. He quickly went into his spare rooms and tidied them up. He took a few of his things he was storing in them and moved them to other rooms. He then changed the sheets in the room with the better bed. Once both rooms were clean he went out and got in his car.

He drove off toward Angel's place. He had been there a couple times before. He remembered the route. It didn't take him too long to get there. He parked outside and got out. He opened up the trunk and was glad he didn't have much in there taking up space. Once his car was ready he walked to Angel's door. He knocked and waited for her to answer. He hand't seen her in some time. He was excited to actually see her again. She was a nice person to be around.

Angel didn't have much in her home. She hated moving so she learned to keep what was necessary for her to keep. Then to add the financial issues she had been having on top of it she sold a lot of her things. She only kept things she needed or things the met something to her. Looking at the six boxes that she had she was on the verge of tears when she heard the knock at her door.

Walking over to the door she took a deep breath and put the best smile she could manage on.

"Hey its nice to see you again."

She said kindly as she let him into her old home trying to hold her composure for as long as she could.

Max smiled when Angel opened the door. He stepped inside and looked around. She had already cleaned everything up. He turned to face her and could tell things were not great for her. He realised it would be best if they left quickly. Maybe once she got set up in her new rooms she would feel better. "Its nice to see you again too. Let's get everything in my car and then I can help you set things up at my house. I really hope you will like it there. I have two rooms that you can use however you want. So, are you ready to go? Or is there something you want to do first?" He spotted the boxes and was surprised that it was all she had. He remembered what her place looked like before. There was no way all that stuff could fit in six boxes. He realised she must have sold a number of things. He wished he had heard about her problems sooner. He could have done more to help her.

Angel smiled as she stood there and listened to him. It was all that she could do to keep herself from crying right then and there. "Thank you so much Max, you have no idea how much all of this really means to me." She said to him before wrapping her arms around him and hugging him tightly. She couldn't help herself in that. He was saving her and she didn't know what else to do.

Max smiled when Angel thanked him. He just wanted to help her. She surprised him with the hug. He didn't pull away though. He didn't say anything either. When she stepped back he just went and started to darry her things to his car. The boxes fit in easily. When everything was packed up he went back into the apartment to make sure they had everything. When they were sure all her stuff was in the car he opened the passenger side door for her. They were soon on the road back to his place. It wouldn't take them long to get there. He occasionally glanced over at Angel to see how she was doing. He wasn't sure what thoughts or emotions she might be dealing with. He figured it was probably tough to be forced out of your home.

Angel was silent most of the ride, she had no idea what to say to him. She wanted to talk, to say so much to him, but she had no idea where to begin with it all. So she sat there silently waiting. She could not believe things had changed so drastically in her life.

"Max I will look for a job and do my best to be able to give you some money until I can get on my own feet again, this all means so much to me, thank you so much I can't express it enough to you."

She said to him. She had to find a way to thank him, of course she could think of more then just money but to be honest this was not the time, place, or the man. She had always had a crush on Max but she highly doubted that he felt the same for her.

Max continued driving as Angel told him she would be trying to find work and pay him. He smiled and glanced over at her. "You don't need to worry about rent. If you want we can split the food bill though. I can help you find a job too. I have a lot of contacts that I am sure would listen if I told them to think about hiring you. Don't worry, we will have you working again in no time. But I don't want you feeling as if you have to rush to move back out. You can stay as long as you want. I think that should at least be until you have bough back or replaced everything you sold. Six boxes is not much. I won't let you go somewhere and have it be empty." He smiled and glanced over at her again. He hoped he wasn't saying anything to offend her. He was just being nice.

Less than a minute later he was backing into his driveway and into the garage. When he parked he turned and smiled at Angel. "Well, here we are. Let's get your things into your rooms and then I can show you around." He got out of the car and then quickly started to carry the boxes into the house and he led her to the rooms that would be hers.
