Right down through the center of town is a set of railroad tracks that have not been used by a train in years. But now they have another use it's a boundary the blacks live on one side and the whites live on the other. Even in this day and age this type of segregation is going on. Not on purpose just in this town is filled with close minded people that cannot accept change. James Ritchey sat in the parking lot of the supermarket in his old pick up truck. Staring off across the tracks wondering when someone would do something to fix this backwoods town.*
James was on the senior in high school and on the football team. Standing about 6'3 with short blonde hair he was the perfect size for a defensive lineman. He was one of the few that was not afraid to cross the tracks like most of his football team. They all thought the same way about that imaginary line that ran through town. *Spacing out the truck door opens then slams. " Hey let's go man.. I got the beer for the party tonight" Marcus said with a smile. " Your folks farm is a perfect spot for a field party. Are you sure that they will be gone all weekend? " James looked at him and chuckled " Fuck yeah man I got the Bon fire ready to go. " James looked over at Marcus. Marcus was James oldest friend even though he was from the other side of the tracks James and Marcus always thought themselves as brothers. Skin color was never an issue between the two. Both of them actually hated how the town was still segregated.*
" You know James someday, someone is gonna rip up those tracks and this town may join the rest of the world instead of this bullshit boundary that runs through this town. " Marcus said clutching his fists. " I hope I'm around to watch it man... It will be funny to watch all of the old heads have to adjust to modern times. " James chuckled.*
James moved to town with his mother and father after living in the big city for years. His father moving the family to a farm on the outskirts of town so he could have his veterinary office there. *James always had Marcus over and never had any issues with his folks. They was cool with Marcus, James always thought his family was one that could see past the line through the center of town.*
