First-timer seeking fantasy story feedback

Hi editors!

I have a ~6700 word SciFi/Fantasy story that I would like to get feedback on. There are mild references to bondage and exhibitionism. I do have a volunteer editor on it so I'm not so worried about mechanical errors, but she isn't familiar with the genre so I am just fishing for general opinions and comments.

My chief fears are:

1. Omg there are no super-explicit sex scenes! Does this still qualify as erotica? My editor says she found it arousing, but extra assurances never hurt.
2. Do my characters seem real and believable?
3. Is there anything genre-specific that sticks out like a sore-thumb?
4. Are there any obvious or not-so-obvious tricks I'm missing that could improve the story or the way that I write? (my ulterior motive is to become a better writer)

It took me about 45,000 words before I wrote the first sex-scene in my story. I did have quite a lot of sexual tension between the characters, however.

People still read it, liked it, commented on it, and voted on it.

After I did write the "love" scene - I still get people asking for more. My conclusion is that people (here, at least) still seem to appreciate a good (I hope) story even though there was very little sexual content to begin with.

Writing erotica is more than just the sex scenes.
