Angela wanted to scream. She was stupid, positively stupid! Her mother had always told her never mix business with pleasure, never! Of course, when she was 18 and decided that her major would be law she hadn’t imagined she would meet her so called ‘soul mate’ there. That hadn’t been the problem though. No her problem had been when she decided that she wanted to work with her so called ‘soul mate’ for the rest of her life, not to mention marry him.
Well, things obviously things hadn’t gone as planned because they had gotten a divorce within the first five years of marriage. Now at age 26, Angela hadn’t gotten far in her law career. She was still trying to climb the ladder of success.

Oh, but it got better…NOT.

Guess who had climbed the ladder of success and made it seem like
That’s right, her so called ‘soul mate’ who was not only a well known lawyer, but had also been promoted as a partner last month.
Fast forward to the reason Angela wanted to scream…

Angela glanced over at Damian. God, she hated him. The way he ….he…..he…grrrr!!!!

“As you know, Angela; Damian has been promoted as partner recently.” Melanie who was Angela’s boss, stated. Angela dutifully nodded although she was seething on the inside. It wasn’t fair! She had worked equally as hard..okay, maybe not AS hard. It wasn’t her fault that Damian had sacrificed their marriage just to get promoted. “Well, he’s going on a trip to Paris. They’ve personally asked him to go there and fortunately for you, they need two lawyers. I’ve noticed how hard you’ve been working lately.”

Well, it was about damn time! But of all people why did it have to be with Damien?!

Angela sighed, as she pulled her bags into the airport. Of all people, it HAD to be Damian..but at least she got to ride the plane first class. That was a major bonus, right?

It was a major bonus. Damian wasn't a man whom loved confrontation... rather he was a man whom had decided long before he met her that he was going to devote his life to work until he made partner. He had no idea he would fall in love with a woman, a woman whom so happened to be studying law alongside him.

The late night studies turned into late night make out sessions, the all nighters were the most interesting. Yet he stood by his decision. He had made it clear when they had married that he would help to support them, and that he would help her. Yet silently he thanked god that the divorce had happened before he had made partner, otherwise he would have been out even more money then he was!

He remained passive as they were 're-united' though to say it was a terse situation was an understatement. He was unwilling to give up his partnership simply because his ex wife was there though, so it seemed that they would have to put up with one another. He had tried to communicate with her... but every time he had asked if anything was wrong she wouldn't tell him.

She told the judge though... in very graphic details, just what flaws were contributing to their break up. He refused to take the blame, as he had been clear when everything had begun. It seemed that didn't make a difference though... it was what it was. As she pulled her bags into the airport though she saw he was already there, checked in and ready to go.

Dressed cleanly as ever, he had no intentions of speaking with her if anything could help it. To say he had worked harder then her was an under-statement. She had wanted to work on the marriage, and he was unwilling to. Enough was said, and they both had their own lives to live!

"Of all people..." she growled, quietly to herself. She walked down the aisle of the plane not speaking a word to Damion. As people filled the plane before she could find a seat that wasn't next to Damian, she had run out of luck. She was forced to sit next to Damion. God, she was lucky, wasn't she? All the seats were taken.

She glanced around the plane, trying to make sure there were no other seats available.

"Maam, I'm sorry but I'm afraid, you'll have to sit down." the flight attendant said.

"Yeah, I-I know but are there any other seats?" Angela pleaded.

"As you can see maam, All the seats are taken."

"B-but..." Angela began to whine.

"Maam, please..we are ready to take off."

She sighed and plopped down on the seat next to Damian not speaking a word but pulling out her ipod and turning up her music. This was certainly going to be a long trip. Forcing a smile, she looked at Damian, "So, hows life?" she said, trying to be civil. Despite what she had just done moments ago.

Despite appearances Damian wasn't very happy at all that she was coming with him either. She had taken some things in the divorce just to spite him that she knew would cause trouble, and as such the matter had gotten rather nasty. As a result he had refused to speak to her since then, though that had seemed to be very mutually agreeable.

She seemed to think that everything in the world was conspiring against her, which was something he had come to despise about her. Life was life. It didn't fuck you, it didn't make you sad or angry, it was what it was. It was up to the people whom lived it to decide how they responded to it.

He watched her as she hopelessly tried to find another seat, his eyes following her, though as she finally 'gave up' he turned his gaze back to the screen of the laptop, making sure to shut it down for the take off. He looked to her as though she was insane though as she asked that... even from the first class seat he could hear the music blaring in her ears.

He knew the flight attendant would be speaking to her about that as well. No electronics of the sort during take off. Had she never flown before? " Fine, just fine." He had never once gloated about his promotion... it was a subtle thing to him. He had achieved his goals, though with alot more conflict then he would have liked.

She'd been on an airplane before, but...not for business for pleasure. After all, the last time she'd been on an airplane was their honeymoon and she hadn't brought her ipod because she hadn't needed her ipod. Her mind was on more...pleasurable matters.

She couldn't hear his answer and couldn't lip read but saw his lips moving, his oh so delicious lips. What really upset Angela the most was that despite the fact that they were divorced, she was still attracted to him. She hated that! No, no that wasn't what she hated because he was a good looking man and it was perfectly natural for her to be attracted to a good looking man.

What pissed her off is when she had tried to work things out with him, he wouldn't allow it. He'd made some excuse that he'd 'moved' on with his life and that she'd only wanted him because he'd gotten promoted. Pfft, she didn't give a damn that he'd been promoted, but what the fuck ev...

"MAAM!!!" came the loud high pitched scream from the brunette flight attendant.

"WHAT?!" came her yell in response. after pulling her headphones out of her ears and glaring at the flight attendant.

"There are no electronics to be used during take off." the flight attendant said as calmly as possible though, it was clear the woman was pissed off an trying not to curse Angela out.

"Oh, sorry." Angela mumbled before turning her ipod off. The flight attendant walked off.

"Thanks for telling me.." she grumbled to Damian, crossing her arms against her chest and closing her eyes.

He looked at her as she said that, his gaze instantly hardening. " You have GOT to be fucking shitting me. Your the one with your music turned up so high that half of the god damned section can hear it." He snapped at her, clearly pissed off, and not afraid to cuss her out like the flight attendant was.

She was just impossible to deal with he had decided. She could claim that she had tried to work things out with him, but he and she both knew the truth was that despite their attraction, it wasn't meant to last. Even as he shook his head though he glanced over to her. He considered not reminding her about the seat belts just to get her bitched at again, but he wasn't that much of an asshole.

" You should do up your seat belt." He remarked as calmly as possible, and even as he set his own seat belt into the clicked position, he simply relaxed back into the seat. He was hoping that he'd be able to just ignore her for most of this trip... she was proving to be just as whiney and bitchy as ever.

She jumped back instantly as he cursed her out. Angela had already known this trip was going to be like walking into hell but having Damian curse at her was like walking into the flame and not being able to walk out. She instantly zipped her lips and looked away. It was a wise decision. Having been married to the man, she knew when to push him overboard and when to let him calm down.

Now was the time to let him calm down before he exploded or something. Angela closed her eyes and just as the flight attendant had started making her way back towards Angela....

" You should do up your seat belt." came Damian's calm, almost relaxed voice.

Angela's eyes snapped open. "Thanks." she responded softly, putting her seat belt on as the flight attendant who apparently had a grudge against her now, passed by her.

A few minutes later, the plane took off for the long flight towards Paris, France. The same flight attendant passed by as they were now up in the air and began asking people if they'd like drink. "Would you like refreshments, a drink?" Her eyes scanned over Damian (clearly checking him out) and then a short brief glance and short smile at Angela.

"Diet Sprite please and that fruit cup." Angela said

When they had been wed, he had endured the small troubling times in favor of the more favorable ones... but he felt no need to be as civil nor patient as he once was. Did she truly think that she was the only one whom was having a hard time with this arrangement? Before she had been informed he had asked for a change, only to be denied.

So it was what it was, and they needed to deal with it! As he sat though he waited until the announcement came that it was all right to turn electronics back on, but he simply set his laptop aside for the moment, and looked right back to the flight attendant with an appreciative smile.

He of course allowed her to order first, he wasn't a complete asshole, and it was only respectful. As she was served her drink though he seemed to linger his eyes upon the flight attendant, and with that charming smile of his, he nodded easily. " I will have some rum with coke please." They WERE flying first class, so he was planning to enjoy the flight! He looked to the attendants name, before he added it as a nice compliment of her looks.

Angela took a sip of her diet sprite and tried not to roll her eyes as she heard Damians compliment toward the flight attendant. They were divorce, there was no need to be jealous. She opened up her fruit cup and picked out a few grapes and bit them.

It was clear that things were over between them and they'd been divorced for awhile now. Why should it matter if he complimented other women? The flight attendant giggled and made little innuendos toward him, making Angela want to gag.

Angela pulled out a romance novel and began reading. It wasn't like there werent hot guys around for her to flirt with. However, if she were to try to make him jealous it would be pointless. Damian was not the kind of man to get jealous. It was like dangling a piece of meat in front of a vegetarian.

Damian had his charms, and if she thought that he was immune to jealousy, she was truly mistaken. Perhaps he was simply better at hiding his feelings then she was... that was definatly more plausable. Even as he flirted with the flight attendant though he winked and smiled, asking her all about herself as he made her giggle, and even as he noticed Angela was getting jealous, he mentally shrugged.

Even as he 'finally' let the flight attendant 'go' to do her job, He did finally take out his laptop and began to work on the case that was taking them on this flight to begin with. Unlike she, he always put work first, and since they were on a plane for hours on end anyway, he figured he would get some work done.

A while later though he put the laptop aside and climbed to his feet, he heading towards the bathrooms, though hoped to catch his favorite flight attendant as well... who knows, one could get lucky on the plane as well!

Angela was relieved when the flight attendant left. She didn't like being around people who didn't like her. It was bad enough that she was trapped on a plane with Damian. While Damian worked on the case, she continued to read her novel. It wasn't that she was being a slacker or anything like that. She just didn't want her life to revolve around work like Damian did.

Though, it wasn't like she had much to look forward to. It wasn't like she was married or anything and could actually enjoy this trip to Paris the city of love. She scoffed at the thought of love. As Damian scooted past her to go use the restroom, Angela pulled out her own laptop and began working on her part of the case.

After going over some notes, she felt a pair of eyes on her. She jerked her eyes to right and found the passenger sitting across from her, staring at her hard. He was actually rather cute. He was blonde with blue eyes kind of muscular. She mouthed a hi to him and he smiled a charming, flirtacious smile and mouthed a hi in return.

Angela couldn't help but giggle. Maybe this trip wouldn't be so terribly bad after all, if indeed this sexy passenger was going to Paris as well.

While she read her novel, Damian was working on the case. She had been the one whom didn't understand that when he had reached this pinnacle in his life that he was going to then want a family and time... he had decided when he was younger, that he wasn't going to stop until he reached this point. She hadn't been willing to wait and understand that to get to the position as partner as a young lawyer was very rare.

He had sacrificed his social life for his professional one, and wasn't going to feel guilt for doing so! He and she would have to work together on the case, but that was about it. If anyone was going to leave the firm it was her, because he certainly wasn't. As he went towards the rear of the plane he saw the young flight attendant whom he had seen and flirted with before.

Flashing one of his charming smiles he asked her how things were, making innuendo about flying and short skirts, but even as he chatted with her, he mentioned going to the washroom with a playful wink towards her. He made sure to take the one nearest to her. He figured if she knocked on the door he'd have some fun with her, and if not, well he did need to go to the washroom.

He was going to live his life his way, not anyone else's.

And of course, how could the flight attendant ignore such a handsome and successful looking young man. It was clear by the hints that he threw the flight attendants way, that he wanted to reach the ...mile high club and well this particular flight attendant was president of said club.

Therefore, she did knock on the door eager to a little fun.

Meanwhile, Angela's new friend had made his way over to where Damian had been sitting on the plane, though she wasn't even sure if that was allowed. Apparently it didn't matter because the flight attendant assigned to their row hadn't come down to fuss or bitch about anything.

They chatted about where they were going. He was indeed going to Paris and they exchanged cellphone numbers. Oh but the best part was, he wasn't from America. He had that cute British accent that Angela loved so much. Normally, Angela didn't believe in long distance relationships but if it didn't work out at least she wouldn't have to worry about seeing him on the street.

The only reason he'd been in America was because he'd been taking a business trip from America to Paris and then back to England. He moved back to his seat and for the rest of the flight, Angela and her new friend Alec would glance at each other smiling.

Damian wasn't looking to become a part of it, he had already joined it the last time he had been on a plane. Even as he was taking care of his own 'business' he heard the knock, a grin crossing his lips, though as he shifted, he pulled the door open only to see her. " Well hello..." He mused, though as he made room for her, he pushed the door closed and flipped the lock so that no one would interrupt them.

He didn't give one damned about what Angela thought of him anymore... he was tired of caring. She hadn't actually tried to make things work between them, and there was quite a bit of resentment there. For now though he pushed the flight attendant, a woman by the name of Rebecca up against the wall, his hands holding hers as he kissed her deeply and passionatly.

He was definatly going to enjoy himself while he was here... if he had to put up with her for the flight, he would definatly need a distraction such as Rebecca!

Angela sighed as she listened to Beyonce's If I Were a Boy. She glanced at the window seat thinking perhaps she should've sat there. She would've loved to see the clouds. Where the hell was Damian anyways? How long did it take to take a piss anyways?

And that flight attend...her thoughts trailed off and her eyes widened. She suddenly didn't want to know where either of them were.

She glanced over at Alec again. It sucked that she couldn't get wifi on her laptop in the air. He'd given her his screen name and everything. When he glanced over at her though, she smiled another flirtacious smile at him and he winked at her. Suddenly, the airplane began to swerve.

Damian for his part didn't care what Angela thought of him... he didn't care if she had 'tried' to make things work... in his eyes she hadn't really. Even as he was fucking the stewardess in the washroom though he felt the slight lurch of the plane, his eyes widening. He could put alot out of his mind, but feeling a plane swerve in that way... well it was unsettling!

Even as he managed to disengage himself from Rebecca, he made a promise to see her again, before they both made their way to their spots. He hadn't finished with her, but the announcement to return to their seats had come from the pilot, and he didn't disobey. Angela for her part knew that Damian hated to fly... he had always been afraid of crashing.

A silly phobea for sure, but there was enough history of it to be justified. He sat down and buckled his seat belt as his hands grabbed the arms of his chair... he looked pale, as he should... he hated turbulence... figuring that was all it was, he tried not to consider any other possibilities!

"EVERY ONE FASTEN YOUR SEAT BELTS! PREPARE FOR TURBULENCE! FLIGHT ATTENDENTS, RETURN TO AREAS IMMEDIATELY!" Came the announcement from the captain. The plane began to swerve. It was just then that Damian returned from the bathroom looking pale and like he was going to pass out.

Instantly, Angela's 'wifely' duties kicked in and she gave him a concerned look averting her eyes away from Alec as if he didn't exist.

Her seat belt was already fastened so she had no need to fasten it. Before she could stop herself from asking, the words left her mouth in a concerned way, of course.

She knew of Damians fear of flying and of crashing. "Are you okay?" She placed her hand on his, comfortingly. Immediately, she blushed and jerked her hand back, quickly remembering that they were divorced and that he hated her and that she hated him. Also, that he'd just walked out of the bathroom with the flight attendant that hated her as well.

The plane made another dip and another swerve. There were loud screams and shouts coming from everywhere. Angela wasn't even aware that she had grabbed onto Damians arm and then everything went black!

Damian didn't have time to react, his hand clutched hers in almost a death grip of a hold. As she asked if he was all right he wanted to laugh out loud, but the churning of fear within his stomach prevented it. Instead all she was treated to was his shaking of his head, he looking to her.

" Hold onto me... whatever you do." It wasn't out of love, nor hate, but he knew from his own reading of stories that if you stayed with someone else, you were more likely to survive. The plane went down, it landing in the ocean somewhere near hawaii, and even as he managed to pull himself from the crash, he was out cold, his natural buoyancy keeping him afloat.

The current took him to the nearby island, one of hundreds in that area... and he woke hours later sputtering water that had rested within his mouth as he turned onto his side with a loud groan.

Angela woke up with her clothes wet, soaked actually. Her hair tangled, eyes burning with salt water and she too had choked on salt water. She blinked a few times and looked around, just laying in the sand for awhile letting the water just wash over her.

She was still in a daze. Where was she? The last thing she remembered was flirting with the sexy british guy sitting across from her. Damian came out of the restroom with the flight attendant, then the plane....

Damian's groan caught her attention and she looked at him. "D-Damian?" She whispered, slowly sitting up. "A-are you okay?" she whispered. She poked him, he had to be alive because he groaned but, was he hurt? "Are you hurt?" Not that it mattered. She was a lawyer, not a doctor.

She was treated to a second groan as she poked him, though as she did he rolled onto his back again and glanced over to her. of all the people to get stuck on an island with... was his immediate thought, but he pushed that away. Now was neither the time nor the place for such thoughts.

" I'm all right... just a bit of water..." He remarked, though as he moved slowly and sat up, he looked around. " where are we?" He asked... it was warm, wherever here was... the beach was clean which told him there wasn't an immediate town nearby otherwise there would be garbage.

He looked down at himself for a long moment checking to make sure his own statement was true, and validating that it was, he nodded slightly. " yeah, i'm still in one piece." He remarked as he looked over to her finally, his eyes taking her in.

" What about you, are you all right?" He wasn't worried really... the plane must have went down nearby, so the rescue would be along at some point. Sooner or later. Right then his immediate concerns were with them, and whether they would have food to survive.

She looked around their surroundings. They were deserted, it seemed. No Hiltons, no beach fronts, what were they going to do? What were they going to eat? Dear god were they going to die?! Angela had to tell herself to breath for a moment and Damian's question caught her attention.

"Uh, my hair is tangled. That's about it." She said, trying to make light of things then with a shrug. She wasn't actually that shallow. She let people THINK she was that shallow but she wasn't. "Other than that, no broken bones."

There was a moment of silence. "So, I guess we should look around, see what there is to eat that won't kill us." Angela said, standing up and brushed the sand off of her dress.

Damian for his part knew she wasn't that shallow... that was why when the 'truth' of the matter had come out in the divorce proceedings, he had been forced to re-evaluate his opinion of her. She thought she had it rough? He had worked his entire life to gather the professionalism and 'power' that he had, and she had almost destroyed all of it.

Even as she said that though he nodded. " good... then yes, I think we should look for some food, though first we need to get out of these clothes, their cold, wet and will make us sick. We're lucky we're in a tropid area... it's nice and warm at least." He remarked.

Even as he moved though he himself climbed to his feet and kicking off his sea sodden shoes, he peeled the jacket to his thousand dollar suit off and tossed that aside, his hands moving to his shirt as he looked to her. " Well? c'mon, it's not like I haven't seen you before." He remarked glibly.

Angela looked down at her suit, it was a Vera Wang suit. She loved Vera Wang, loved loved loooooooooved Vera Wang. She glanced over at Damian, her eyes trailing down his ripped....then closed her eyes. Now was so not the time for that!

Survival, this was about survival. She ripped pencil skirt threw it to the side making it look like something from Gilligan's Island...but more stylish and pursed her lips. Her blouse was a tad bit too soaked to leave on.

" Well? c'mon, it's not like I haven't seen you before."

Angela rolled her eyes at Damian, wanting to make a snide remark about how this wasn't a strip club. Peeling her blouse off, she at least left her sheer pink bra on and she didn't have to explain that the sun would dry her bra and skirt off. It wasn't like they were married.

He wasn't looking to get her naked, or anything like that... it wasn't his intention to slight her either, although perhaps his attitude could have been 'easier' on her. Even as he tossed the suit top aside to lay in the sand and dry, he noticed her looking at him. Damian had worked out more and more recently, having the time he had also hired a personal trainer to 'get him back in shape', though he had never really been out of it, he had decided he wanted to be physically stronger.

Even as she peeled her blouse off he noticed her pink bra, he not commenting about the skirt or the bra at all. Rather he took off the dress shirt he had been wearing, he looking around until he spotted a tree. Taking the shirt along with the jacket he slung them over a low laying branch, before he looked down to his pants. Making a decision he peeled them off as well.

Leaving him in nothing but a pair of black silk boxer short underwear, he nodded more to himself then for her benefit before he rolled the pants up, wringing the water out of them. He finally slid them back on. " We should see if any wreckage has been washed ashore... if there is we can use it to make shelter or weapons."

He wasn't expecting trouble, but he HAD been a boy scout when he had been a child, and the skills remained. He'd hunt for his food if it came to be necessary. Damian wasn't a vegetarian in the slightest!

Of all the people to get stuck on a deserted island with, she had to get stuck with a man who she was attracted to, yet he wouldn't even spare her a glance. Well, he would but not in the way she wanted him to. This was going to be torture. At least, he'd been part of the boy scouts when he was younger. That would come in handy and they wouldn't starve. That too, would come in handy.

That is, if he'd be nice and share. If not, she could always risk it and find some berries and nuts. "Lead the way, captain." she said. This was probably the worst thing that could have happened to her. This came in third actually, after getting on the damn plane to begin with because if she hadn't been on the plane she wouldn't be on the damn island to begin with.

Speaking of plane.

"What do you think happened to the plane?" Angela asked, as she wrung out her blouse.

And by that, she actually meant Alec. God, she hoped he was alright and alive so that she could call him when they got back to civility and technology.
