Please explain to me what links are allowed. Is it OK to post links to images on other sites where the image protected by a copywrite is legally displayed.

Links are fine, unless the site has been blocked for posting on Lit. (I think sites that try to spam Lit end up getting blocked, so their URLs don't display, like the first one you tried.) If it's just text, it's 100% okay.
Hotlinking (copying the image URL and posting it with the IMG tag) is not allowed unless it is a specific image hosting site like BayImg, FileFap, etc. Note that Photobucket and Imageshack don't allow adult pictures to be hosted there, look for an adult-friendly image host.
