Tie rope to hair: how to?

Kybele having utterly persuaded me that I need to get an ass hook, the question arises: how does one tie a rope securely into hair? It's something I've never tried, and the knots I'm familiar with won't do it. My new plaything has enough hair to hold firmly in a hand - a bit longer than shoulder length - but it's straight and quite silky and it's hard to see how to get a good grip on it with rope.

I don't want to practice on her. When I try it on her, I want to be confident it's just going to work, and be able to convey my confidence to her. I could practice on a friend first.

Anyone know of any good tutorials on line? If not, would someone be so kind as to give me some hints?

Yes, I know I can cuff hands to an ass hook, and obvious things like that. But the arched-back posture which the sub is forced into when her hair is tied to it is just too delicious to miss. And I know my plaything would love it.

You're trying it out in your own hair? Is your hair long enough? You need to twist it into a rope and get purchase on the knot, it will probably slide before it bites.

I don't remember the names of knots so bare with me in my descriptions.

I would start by french braiding the rope into her hair (a braid that starts at the crown with a small section of hair and adds more hair as it continues down) When you come to the nape of the neck, hook around the hair making a loop and pull the end thru (butcher's knot maybe?) then continue braiding until the end of the hair.

I'm trying to picture how to then wrap the braid and end up with the end of the rope at the end of the braid, but my brain just isn't getting the mechanics of it in my head at the moment.

Ooh, actually splicing the line into the hair would be awesome.

That makes more sense to me. And Captain's Wench's ideas of plaiting it in also makes sense. More surface area of hair on rope is likely to have better grip. And, of course, cotton rope will grip better than polyester. But while I love simple knots like the sheet bend I don't think it's going to work for this - I think something analogous to splicing or braiding is definitely needed.

Still want to talk to someone who's done it, though!

I think my idea would only work if the hair was long enough to braid into a rope. You're right, it wouldn't work on loose hair.

Do you have to use rope?

We have wound hair with leather thongs and other kinds of cords to create "tails." Tightly wound, the thinner strands are less likely to slip out of fine hair, and you can use the long loose ends of the cords to bind the hair to other objects (including other people's hair :D).

Thanks, that's a useful thought. As I'm meaning to use this to tie back to an ass-hook it doesn't need to be that strong.

Another things I've been thinking of is what is sold in farm supply stores as 'cow tail tape' - dairymen use it to mark the tails of particular cows the need particular feeds or treatments. It's a tough, brightly coloured, fabric-based sticky tape, obviously resistant to things cows' tails are likely to encounter. It has a wide range of uses in bondage, but at a pinch it could be used to bind a rope into hair. The disadvantage is the sticky residue might be hard to wash out. The final thought would be just to put a whipping on the hair using 2mm cord. That would take a few moments, but would probably work.

If the hair is long enough, use a sheet bend.

Good for connecting lines of different diameters.

my hair hits my waist and it won't work.

splicing kinda works.

what I do is:

divide hair into three. a long ribbon is tied around upper part of one portion but with equal tails.

the long tails go to the portions that don't have the ribbon tied around it. you then start plaiting. Nice and firm does it. it's cool if you wrap the ribbon around the hair as well.

When you get to the end of the hair secure it firmly with a hair elastic. NOT an elastic band. it fucks the hair ends up. then attach the ribbons to the hook end.

Done this way you can really really pull the head back by the hair without the pain of the hair being pulled from the scalp. That is fine if you like that, but i don't. it distracts me from the more interesting, other stuff happening.

Seb's done it, and would probably be able to explain it to you, but he doesn't post here. You could ask him on fetlife.

I have very fine and wilfully slippery hair, and honestly the only way to braid into it or tie rope to it would be to work a sticky elastic into the tie somehow and this will indeed hurt like absolute hell. Which is fun. Yes you'll rip out a few hairs too. If you're actually trying to be mean with this you will get great predicament out of it.

Swoon.

Kybele, marry me ;-)

Thanks, Kybele, that's exactly what I needed. I don't have that much hair to work with, unfortunately, but ought to get a reasonable grip. Had not thought of using ribbon, but it would work fine.

Simon, maybe you could message Homburg and ask him to chime into this thread. He seems to be the resident rope and knot expert. Love Kybele's advice too!

I so need to show this thread to my Master. He has a keen interest in ass hooks and will be interested in the advice in this thread. :)

I saw a girl with her hair just in those special grippy elastics tied to a hook with rope.. the hair was looped through the elastic on the last twist so it would grip the rope.... simple, but it worked.
