The Ginger Sisters' Carnival (OOC, Casting)

The newest sensations in the world of carnival and circus acts, the Ginger Sisters, Sheila and Larissa and their companions bring you a whole new look into the age-old acts you have grown to love, plus some brand new ideas.

Okay, so I got this idea from the tv series Heroes, the Sullivan Bros Carnival, a 'family' of people with special gifts. What I am hoping to accomplish is a thread where people can write about a character that is different then the rest of the world.
Unlike the series, I do not hope there will be violence or any aggressive acts to outsiders. The Sisters aim to keep their special gifts hidden as best they can, while still be able to make a living with them.

Needless to say, there will be sexual acts, it is even encouraged. But I will not be creating a massive storyline, there will be a lot of free actions for the participants.

Characters are your own choice, there are only 2 characters semi-fixed (being the Ginger Sisters), of which I will play one. Aside from those two, feel free to come up with ideas of your own.
You can be a part of the family already, a 'lost' person with a gift, a 'normal' human intrigued by the things going on.. or even an evil do-er who wants to expose the Carnival as a home to freaks.

Name: Sheila Ginger
Age: 28
Special Gift: Eagle Vision (extremely sharp eyes, can see sharp up to 500 feet away)
Carnival Act: Knife-thrower and Director.

Appearance: Sheila is a fairly sturdy built woman, about 5 foot 6 long. Her fiery red hair is a testament of her adopted surname. Sheila wears glasses that help her control her gift, letting her see normally like anyone else. (For her act, she always removes them)
There's a pouch of knifes hanging around her belt made of leather.

Biography: The Ginger Carnival used to be in the hands of Damon, Sheila and Larissa's father. It had been his idea originally to start up the Carnival as a refuge for people with special gifts, a place where they could live their lives as normally as was possible, where the odd was considered normal.

A cryokinetic himself (person who can create water and ice), Damon worked as a daredevil aside from his duties to manage the Carnival. Nobody slacked, everyone did their part and thus everyone was treated equally and lovingly.
Until that faithful day, when a routine act of his went completely wrong. For reasons that the sisters never managed to find out, Damon's power backfired, causing him to be encased in a block of permanently solid ice.

Since that day, the two sisters have take up the leadership over the Carnival. Sheila, being the oldest, is officially the Director, but she and her younger sister Larissa share many of the tasks. With the support of many of their family, they have now taken the Ginger Carnival back to the parks, aiming to please the 'normal' folk, while also trying to find more 'gifted ones' to become a part of the family.

Damion la Strange

Name: Damion la Strange
Age: 21
Special Gift: Exceptional strength and a heightened healing factor (not like a mutant's, more like three times that of a normal human)
Carnival Act: Strongman.

Appearance: Damion is well built, but he doesn't look like he could lift a 20 ton weight with ease, he has straight blond hair that he wears in a ponytail, but when loose it reaches to under his chin, he has green eyes and also has a permanent scar running from the tear duct of his left straight to the left corner of his mouth. He is 6'10" and weighs 270 pounds.

Biography: Damion grew up as the bastard child of a drug addicted hooker, he never really got the education he should have, but growing up with a thirst for knowledge he studied everything he could. His powers manifested themselves slowly in his younger years, but when he hit puberty they really went off the scale. Damion never joined any of the street gangs, but had a few run-ins with them, he got the reputation of being a fearsome fighter and he learned quite a lot of tricks from the boys and later men he faced.

As Damion grew older he found work at the factories and proved himself to be a very hard worker and always ready and willing to do more than his job asked of him. One night he got into a quarrel with a street gang and he received a hard knock to his head. Damion woke up on a construction site, not knowing who he is or where he came from, it was one cold and rainy night when he stumbled upon the The Gingers Sisters' Carnival

Stumpy McGee

Given Name (few people know it): Evan Eastman
Stage name: "Stumpy" McGee (he chose this name)
Age: 18
Special gift: Super Speed
Carnival Act: Human Torso / Daredevil (of sorts)

Appearance: The first thing you notice about young Evan is that he doesn’t have any arms or legs. The second thing you notice about him is his cheerful, cocky, snarky demeanor. Evan refuses to let anyone get mopey, or pity him in his presence. he doesn’t have any arms or legs, but he is far from helpless.

Biography: When he was 11 he discovered he could move at incredible speeds. He used this power as any young boy would... for pranks. It was when he tried to play a trick on Uncle Harold when his secret was discovered. Harry too had this gift; and he visited regularly to help Evan learn about his power. But most of all, Harry strongly emphasized the importance of staying hidden.

Evan eventually learned that Uncle Harry did more than just “stay hidden;” he used his powers out in the world. Evan convinced his uncle to let him tag along... which he did only for general patrols, never for any major project or catastrophe... Because even though super speed enabled Uncle Harry to stay out of the public eye, a few people eventually became aware of his actions... people who wished to do him harm.

When these people became a greater threat, Harry refused to take Evan on any further speedster outings. One day Evan snuck out and followed his Uncle, and was determined to prove that he had the right stuff to do this. Evan found his Uncle, in the middle of a bizarre situation he could never have fathomed in his wildest dreams. Whatever the threat was, the only way his Uncle could save the day was to run... RUN! Evan followed him... tried to push his speed to the limit... he saw his Uncle vanish from sight... he didn’t speed ahead, he VANISHED... Evan panicked... started to lose his balance... direction... he collided with something at supersonic speed...Evan doesn’t remember what happened after that.

When he left supersonic speed, Sheila Ginger caught a glimpse of a flash of light in the middle of a clearing, and something small flying forward and skidding for a mile in the dirt. She and other members of the Carnival hiked over and found a 16 year old boy with his arms cut off just mere inches from the shoulder, and legs cut off just inches from the waist. there was no bleeding, the wounds seemed to have been cauterized. They took Evan in and nursed him back to health, and gave him shelter.

For about 2 weeks, Evan was distraught. He lost his Uncle, didn’t know where he was, and was shocked about the loss of his limbs... but it wasn’t long before the words of his uncle came back to him “always move on, live life, and don’t fall prey to despair. Keep going, keep running.” Which is what he did, despite having no legs or arms. He’ll never be able to reach his top speeds as he once could without his legs, but he is still able to use his Speedster powers in many helpful ways around the Carnival.

Evan took to the Carnival life pretty well. During the day, he works at the Carnival as one of the “freaks” but because of his boundless energy & speedster abilities, he likes to make himself useful as a performer in the main tent, doing ludicrous stunts and pranks.

((Occasionally he will reflect on what happened to him, and what became of his Uncle... and he never misses a chance to follow up on any leads he can piece together from that confusing day of his accident, two years ago. He keeps a journal of what he can remember, and what he’s learned since.))

Good of you to join in. I'd like at least 1 more person, preferably a female to play Larissa.

I could play the two sisters simultaniously, but that could cause some unneeded hassle.

Name: Max Schillfer (The Dark One – stage name)
Age: 20
Special Gift: Emotive Telepathy (implanting thoughts and modifying reality perception)
Carnival Act: Magician

Appearance: 5’ 9’’ tall with a thin wiry frame and short cropped white hair that he wears spiked, a matching white goatee beard is waxed to a point two inches under his chin. He had a pale skin with dark, deep blue eyes that sparkle when mischief is afoot.

Biography: Brought up in a working class family the son of a lathe turner and a cleaner. Max initially found he could read thoughts of others and as time passed he realised he could influence them. He learned early that his father despised him and his mother; blaming them for him being in his dead end job. Hearing and seeing other peoples thoughts has brought him more pain than pleasure through his life and he is now cynical about his ‘gift’. As soon as he was able he left home and made a life on the streets doing small time hustles like ‘find the lady’ to make his way.
One particularly dark night Max was sharing a flop house with a group of addicts when they murdered a cop who had come to move them on. The violence and darkness of their thoughts was so terrifying that he has blocked the memory and with it his ability to read peoples thoughts. The only memory of this night is him running from a riverside warehouse in the dead of night. This experience and his partial mental blindness made him move on from street-life in the city to a small nondescript town eventually finding work on a theatre as a cleaner. It was here he learned his magic tricks by playing with the old equipment in the vast store rooms. He still isn’t very good but he makes up for it with showmanship and of course projecting the successful illusion into the minds of the audience.
Max joined the Carnival six months ago after seeing the show near the theatre where he worked. After showing a few tricks and projecting some thoughts into the sisters heads the sister knew this was the person they needed to join the Carnival. He has never looked back, because he doesn’t want to see his past following him.

DK. I swear I almost feel like I'm stalking you. This was one of the few things I liked about Heroes after the show went ... weird. lol.

Niriate. I wouldn't mind playing your sister, but she would have to be like a half sister. I want to play my character has a minority because that's what I'm used to. I could make her half black half irish (red hair) and still give her some of the characteristics or the sisters could look nothing like shocking people when they find out they are sisters. If this is a deal breaker for you I can come up with another character. One who had the ability to heal and kill with touch (kinda like rouge from Xmen). i know cliche, but with me...there's always so. much. more. *smiles*

Hey Reina. If you want to play Larissa as a half-sister, or maybe as a good friend, that's fine with me. And for the record, she doesn't have to be a redhead, the Ginger is just a family name.

The ability sounds like a good idea to me, plus it would mean that we can finally get started and hopefully find some more people along the way.

Age: 26
Special Gift: the power to heal and kill with touch (a power that she can't control)
Carnival Act: an act between acts, the story of Love. (basically the lights dim, music plays, and there's a flower slowly withering when another flower comes and tries to heal it. the flower dies and the other flower cries. then the flower comes back to life with 'love'. and flowers rain down on the audience) again just a holder act while the other acts get set up for the main event. Also Manager and sometimes groundskeeper

Appearance: Larissa is shorter than her big sister at 5'5. She's also caramel tone with black hair that has reddish streaks. Aside from those differences the sisters do look alike except Larissa doesn't wear glasses. Whereas Sheila is helpful, sweet, and nice Larissa is a smart ass, can be snarky, and moody.

Biography: Larissa has always felt betrayed that her father had left them. She wasn't ready for him to go. Larissa shares the tasks with her sister in running the carnival and though she does have one act when the performers are running behind and need someone to entertain the crowd she prefers to stay behind the scenes. She likes her gardening and could be found making the carnival 'prettier'. They have a large family, many who she grew up with and many they have taken in. Larissa loves her family and will do anything to protect them. Anything.

Hi all. It looks like we are getting going. Hope I can keep up with you all as it is my first real thread. Keep me in check if I get anything wrong.........

It's good to have some people. I'll have to think about a course of action, since we sofar have no bad guy/girl yet.
But I'll come up with something.

If you need bad I'll try it. My character has the tools and history to fit the bill and cause some havoc.

While it is not needed, it would be nice to have a more 'bad' character. But if you do not want to play one, it's not needed. It's your own choice.

I'm happy to give it a try. It will be a bit if a novelty playing a bad guy. I will have to let my creative juices flow. Don't forget I'm just a nice guy playing a bad character ;-)

Hmm can Larissa be evil-ish. that's how i planned her. I guess I should have asked first.

I'm always happy to let the lady take the lead. You be bad if you want to be! You never know we might even be in league together if it helps the storyline. Honestly I'm happy to play any character that's needed to make the thread fly.
