It had been three years in the making. Three years of mowing lawns, shoveling snow and after school jobs had finally paid off in the weeks after graduation. Stephen was finally able to afford some rare comic book he’d never heard of; some rare comic book his closest friend always went on about. Two years ago he remembered she said she’d fuck anyone if she could own it. Stephen didn’t say anything but took her words literally.
Now he had it in his hands. It was wrapped in hard plastic and graded. It was practically perfect though he couldn’t understand why anyone would want the thing. At least not for the price. But collectors were uncommon, strange people. Especially of the comic book type. However, he had to see if she were still ecstatic about it... if she wanted to see it... and if she’d accept his offer.
Flipping open his cell he called her number, telling her about the news. She sounded ecstatic over the phone, vowing to come right over. Stephen had limited time to get his room in order, placing the book on his desk while he made up his bed. It was going to be hard to broach the subject, if her offer was real. If it were, he was going to try to extend the offer to last until they’d have to leave for college.
