Zumizumizumi .... I went with peach and Proseco, with some rosemary from my garden and vodka thrown in. Summer sangria sat in my fridge all day, ready for me to toss back. And it's finally warm enough in the Northwest to *want* summery deck boozy drinks like sangria.

Everyone, please have a glass .... on me. I insist.

mmmmm..... peachy....

I'll join rosemary:)

I spilled sangria between my boobs. So I am sort of swimming in rosemary.

How's you? Drinkin' a coke and watchin' scifi?

I just got home from a four star dinner, complete with a few pours of viognier. I am not feeling any kind of pain.

OK, I've got to do this shit next time!

I've got a pitcher full of purple stuff made of Svedka and Malbec and cranberry/grape juice and Triple-Sec...and it's treating me very well right now....I killed about half of it before I remixed it, with some lemon/lime juice that was hiding in the back of my fridge!

I'm gonna go look for those apothecary jars on my next day off, or at least a good, supersized glass pitcher. Mine right now is an adequate two-quart that I can keep dipping into, but I figger I can make a gallon of sweet stuff to save up....:D

Oh, okay...you just want to make me rip the crotch area of my shorts, don'tcha? :D

Yes! Big jars full of booze are very good. Just think of how many people you can ply with margaritas with a ginormous apothecary jar. We're talking booze for 20 people (or 10 if they're like us). And Malbec is the shiz! I just love that wine. What does the Svedka taste like in there? I wanna sip now!

I'm sort of getting numby buzzed. I think I need to slow down. This fruity stuff goes down way too fast and is a headache factory.

A 1000 ways to die on spike right now. I'm on to mineral water right now.

Good girl! Hydrate. That reminds me I need to double up and get another big glass of water. Don't want tomorrow to be Headacheville: Population Me.

That looks some ridiculous kind of delicious. Rosemary in sangria?? I love it. Proseco? Yes please. Double yes please.

While we're on the subject of liquor, I've recently discovered Green Tea liqueur. I'd spend my last dollar in the world on a Dragon Saketini. Yayyyy drinking!

I got a gallon of Svedka instead of the flavored vodka I thought I'd get because I'd stretched out the benjamin I used to get some groceries tonight and even the cheap ghetto likker joint right off my subway station adds up if you buy two bottles of stuff...the regular Svedka mixes very very very well with everything. I like it because it's quality enough for making drinks or drinking straight and won't break your pocket like a Grey Goose would.

I'm realizing now that I over-estimated and I have enough liquid stuff to go for a few days if I mix and don't go overboard, which is all good, because I can just get another half-gal of OJ and remix this right back up when the other juice runs out. Got a nice buzz, but not woozy or anything, it's all chill. If I had a get-together goin' on here, it'd be a different story, tho'.

Come have a glass!! I'm pouring you an extra extra big one.

And holy shit. Really? Green Tea liqueur? What does that taste like? I love using green tea powder in creme anglaise and to flavor ice cream because it's got this great earthiness that just tastes so damn good with creamy, sweet things. Is the Green Tea liqueur sweetened? I can see me making ice cream with that. Hot damn.

Yes! And *that* is the beautiful thing about sangria. Just add more juice, booze, whatev. It keeps in the fridge. In fact, it gets better as it marinates. By the end of the week, the fruit is boozy enough to get you l-o-a-d-e-d. Ha.

Second glass! Doh.

I'm just drinking an Alaskan IPA as I wind down from my trip north.

Ah, merci! This sounds good enough to get me to start singing Aerosmith songs and pass out in a hammock.

Just the liqueur is a just little sweeter than I'd like. Nothing so bad that'll give you cavities just to look at it, though, and it has a hint of the bitterness of the true brewed tea. The earthiness is barely perceptible, but definitely there, especially when mixed with some of the fresh-brewed real deal, sake, vodka, and just a splash of something citrusy. Not the same as sipping from a steaming mug by any means, but different and fun. Hot contender for my new favorite cocktail! Until your sangria, that is. Okay, new favorite cocktail with the word "dragon" in it.

Green tea powder? Sounds tremendous. Adding to my shopping list.

It may be regular green tea mixed with shochu. (if I'm wrong, then I'll eat me words.) Because when I go out to drink shochu at my joints, I can get a decanter of green tea to smooth it out with if I don't want water. Go to any Japanese joint worth their salt, they might have it. But it's simple enough to make at home, if you think about it.

Damn, this sang is hittin me nicely! :D

(okay, Phelia explained it all awreddy...yeeesh!)

Aerosmith? hammock? I totally want to drink with you, on a beach. You're awesome. And green tea powder is just so damn good in so many things. You can even put a touch of it in a beurre blanc sauce for an unexpected earthy twist.

Cool.....I had troll caught white king last weekend and there's fresh sockeye in the fridge for tomorrow.....

Damn. I'm jealous of your geography. I know I'm just southward in Seattle, but the source for you is *right* there!

Shochu! Love that stuff. Are you a fan of Korean Soju? What do you think of that stuff? It's showing up in kaiten sushi joints everywhere here.

I've never heard of shochu before, but do I ever want to try it! This thread makes my lil aspiring-alcoholic heart sing. Let's the three of us go out and get exquisitely hammered at some point. First round's on me!

We ate at Applebee's the other night (there ARE no good restaurants where I am at on vacation in the middle of no where...). They have a great red apple sangria right now. I highly recommend it.

Red apples. Nummmy! I like to do tart apples, too. What's the wine in that? Do you remember?

Korean soju is some good shit. But you gotta be careful with it. That shit don't play around.

Most of the K-joints around here are swinging back to makkoli (Korean unfiltered rice wine, similar to nigorizake.) It's cheaper, more fragrant and you can get a good drunk off of it. It used to be a poor-man's drink, but now that everyone's all frugal an' shit, it's swinging back.

But for Korean drinx, I also love chungha. Used to drink this stuff a lot, more than soju or jinro. So easy to get soused around me, I swears...:D

Oh, it's a bet if y'all come around this way. I know just the place to take you to...

I'm betting you've tasted shochu before, even if you didn't know the name. It's water-based, unlike sake, and can come from barley or potato, not just rice.
