The Last Daughter of Krypton - OOC

This thread, and its IC, are an alternative* story to Supergirl's origins where, instead of Kal-El being sent to Earth, Kara Zor-El goes instead (basically all the roles involving the House of El are switched. I.e. Jor-El wasn't the head scientist, his brother was. When Zor-El couldn't convince his people to save themselves, he decided to send his only daughter to Earth).

Intro:

Kara was but a mere child while rocketing through space, chunks of her home planet following her ship as they shuttled towards a distant world. Life in Smallville was about to change. As the people went about their daily routines, their little world would be shaken as the meteor fragments rained down on their town, causing destruction and mayhem everywhere.

Driving home in their new truck, Jonathon and Martha Kent veered off the road in order to avoid a collision with one of the falling rocks. As they struggled to catch their breath, having panicked from the sudden events, their eyes watched as one of the mysterious meteors created an extensive but destructive path in the ground. Getting out of the truck, the Kent's ran over to the part where the meteor had finally stopped. Amidst the smoking ruins, they discovered something far more startling... a ship.

Kara is raised by the Kent family under the name Claire, and she grows up to become a beautiful and exceptionally talented young woman. She is close friends with Pete Ross after she came to his defense against bullies early on in their childhood, and the two became rather inseparable. Claire also befriended Chloe Sullivan at some point during the 8th grade, and for as long as she could remember Claire has had a crush on Whitney Fordman.

Where the thread begins:

Claire and her friends are now seniors at Smallville High, and school has just officially started.

After Hal’s father died during a test flight for the Air Force, his mother moved both of them back to her hometown of Smallville. Hal has only been in town a few weeks, and is new to the senior class at Smallville High.
Independent and self-reliant from his upbringing as a military brat, Hal doesn’t befriend people easily. The recent loss of his father, as well as being uprooted from his home in Coast City, has Hal off balance. Hal still plans to follow in his father's foot-steps by joining the Air Force after high school with the eventual goal of becoming a test pilot himself.

Hal has not made his mind up on Smallville yet. It's a smaller, quieter lifestyle than he's used to. He also bristles at having to be the 'New Guy,' starting his high school experience over again in a new Senior class.

History:

Cassie is the only daughter of Dr. Helena Sandsmark, a respected archeologist, who has recently taken up a position at Metropolis University as professor of ancient studies, in addition to working as a consultant and assitant curator for the greek mythology exhibit at the Metropolis City Museum. Dr. Sandsmark eschewed the idea of moving to the big city, feeling that juggling the responsibilites of being a single-mother would be easier in a smalltown where she could get to know most of the parents. She is leasing a house near the talon with fellow single mom Thelma Gordon.

Cassandra is eager for excitement and adventure and is having trouble adjusting to life in Smallville and to her new roomate, Barbara but finds that she likes most of the Smallville gang, especially Kara.

Like Cassie, Barbara is relativly new to Smallville, having moved their with her mother, who has just divorced her husband Gotham City Police Captain Jim Gordon. Barbara is a bibliophile, computer nut and all around information junkie and loves the fact that she's housing with a famous archeologist. However she has been having trouble finding common ground with her roomate Cassie.

Barbara Gordon volunteers in the school library and studies martial arts.

Powers: No powers, however Barbra Gordon has keen investigative mind, a black belt in two martial arts and excellent computer skills.

Weaknesses: Sometimes she gets too curious.
