OOC this takes place in a peaceful agrian pre tech society on a far distant planet

Myrna was a happy girl, living in a one of the many peaceful matriarchal communities on Kyndalla. It was not an easy life, everyone worked together for the benefit of the community. The Matriarch was appointed each year from the women past child bearing years, often ruling for upto ten years. It made things practical as she had control over the access to men and child rearing resources and it would be a conflict of interest if she was able to have children. Myrna was one of the current Matriarch's grand daughters, and in general the matriarch had the most descendents, as the qualities that made a prolific mother also made a good matriarch.
Only females were allowed to vote, as men lived such short and often violent lives in the past. None had considered challenging the women, as such disturbances in the past led to the male being ostracized for intimacy and trade. He often ended up moving to another community where he would need to start all over. It wasn't impossible, depending on his skills he might be allowed to trade right away, in general communities were suspicious of male transplants, and it would take a long time for him to gain the right to mate. Trading between communities was limited to once a year for goods that were unable to be procured within the community.
For example Myrna's community was know for furs, leathers, and woven goods. They would trade their excess for fish, grain goods, and other useful tools. Myrna herself was an expert dyer, spending her days collecting food stuff and dye stuffs. She knew that if she took interest in the males she could spend more time on her craft and less time acquiring food, but due to her skill the community provided for her in the winter.
Unproven males lived on the outskirts of communities, serving as protectors. Males typically hunted and gave their kills to the Matriarch to earn her favor. In return they ate within the community, and were able to mingle with the women. Sometimes a woman would take a liking to a male and would ask for permission from the matriarch to take him into her home. Such pairings were only binding as long as the matriarch served.
(sorry if this seems rambling I was trying to set up the society in my head and while it may be clear to me how things work I may not have planned them out accordingly)
Myrna had two suitors, of which she had no idea. Gralk an older hunter who often accompanied trading missions and so had made no permanent ties with any other female, and Tybor a young aggressive male who saw in her the potential to become matriarch and he wanted to father her children.
But on this very special day, an outsider was going to arrive, an outsider who was not of any community, but claimed to be of the sky.
