This story (thread) will be broken up into three chapters. The first is called The Soulstone.

Many thousands of years ago, Dragons ruled the world from their castles in the sky with an iron fist. After years of oppression, three powerful Wizards, Archios, Carimen and Sitan formed an alliance to put an end to the reign of Dragon Lords, yet even with their combined strengths they were still far too weak. In a final confrontation with the Dragon Emperor himself, the three magi desperately formed a stone of such immense power that it seemed to draw from the very souls around it. With this new device in hand, the Wizards took on the Gold Dragon at his fortress.

After a long and terrible battle, the Emperor perished along with the Wizards. The age of the dragons had ended, and the 'lesser' races of the world took over. Humans, Dwarves and Elves went their separate ways, though none knew what became of the legendary Soulstone.

The thread will begin in the Emerald Kingdom, a land ruled by humans (though other races are welcome within its borders). The king of Wildecrest, Julius, has ordered a lavish festival take place in order to properly celebrate five hundred years of prosperity.

Leyna Greenfield is the daughter of a respected townsman in a small village south of Wildecrest. She has some defensive training, (courtesy of the knights stationed in the village) and is very proficient at wielding the sword.

Aveline Carrowind is the name taken on by the Black Dragon Aranthia. She was present during the reign of the Dragon Lords, and she wishes to see her family restored to its "rightful" rule. She has since taken on the guise of a human noble, and sits on the private council of the King, using whatever means available to achieve her goals.

Emilia Wildecrest
is the oldest daughter of King Julius Wildecrest, and heir to the throne. It is rumoured she is set to be married to the prince of a neighboring kingdom.

Name: Ili (Short for Iliandirith)
Age: Ohh, she forgets that. Somewhere around 80?

As an Elemental Fairie, Ili thinks she knows just about all there is to know on all things. Unfortunately, this couldn't be further from the truth. She does, however, have abilities when in the presence of certain elements, though her strengths in them vary depending on the abundance of that element. Her personality is embedded in nature as well: she has a temper like fire, and mind that washes like the waters, changes her decisions like the breeze, and is as stubborn as a stone.

Since the battles against the Dragons, Ili has taken to staying in her human form more often than fae, attempting to keep her rare existence hidden from those around her. Only a few are aware of the true capabilities of the odd (seemingly) young woman, as she still tries to help out her newfound home with her powers.

Will edit this next part off if need be...
Ili still holds a deep hatred toward the Dragons, the ones who left her to be what she believes to be the last of her own kind. They had destroyed so many of the fairie villages, Ili managing to avoid death by her own curious nature leading her off prior to the attacks on her village. Though she prefers not to fight, if dragons are mentioned near her, she's rather quick to take defensive action.

Name: Drake Wyldvern
Age: 33 Years
Race: Human
Class: March Warden of Wyldvern
Gear of Note:
- Elvish Long Blade (Similar to a Katana)
The blade, a gift to the Wyldvern family, is of fine steel and the lesser of two "Leaf Blades" as they are called. It has no magical properties.
- Dragonwood Bow
Fashioned by the finest craftsmen from the finest Dragonwood, Drake's bow was a gift from his father. The bow is recurved, an heirloom, and loving cared for. It has no magical properties.
- Horn of Hollas
An ivory hunting horn with a tremendous call, handed down to Captains of the March Wardens upon promotion.

Named after the lands from which they hail, the Wyldvern's are a noble family whose lands are at the farthest reach of Wildecrest's Kingdom. They are one of the true Noble families, notoriously loyal to the throne. They are also amongst the most poor. They have a tremendous relationship with the Elves.

The Wyldvern is a great forest bordering the far reach of Wildecrest's Kingdom, notoriously dangerous not only for its powerful fauna but the tremendous ferocity of its winters. The forest is the only known place where Dragonwood grows, a massive tree that towers frightfully high and easily a few wagons wide. It is the Wyldvern's major export throughout the Kingdom, and the only real source of trade by which they have means.

The tremendous cost of this wood throughout the Kingdom makes it an item of absolute luxury. Few Nobles, if any, have a single item carved from it.

The people of Wyldvern reside within its great castle, safe within its walls. The village is small and tightly knit, untrusting of outsiders and notoriously proud. The men of Wyldvern are known for their dark hair, pale eyes, and tremendous physical strength. Their Army call themselves the March Wardens.

Drake Wyldvern is the Captain of the March Wardens and youngest of his father's three sons. The young Prince is therefore not considered heir to the throne. He is a stoic man, austere to the point of fault. His tremendous reserve, great discipline, and ruggedly handsome appearance have made him greatly popular with women. His family's modest means are spent caring for their people, and as such they have little wealth to speak of. This, coupled with their notoriously blunt approach to politics (they are ferociously faithful to the King) has made them notoriously incapable of wedding other noble families. As such, by comparison, Wyldvern blood is considered inpure, given that for the last fifteen generations its sons have taken peasant wives from within the village.

To outsiders the culture is both brutally hard and terribly cold. Outsiders are treated with suspicion and disregard, and the society's harsh holding to principles affords little room for apology. As such their reputation is for blood-thirsty warriors and grouchy, short-tempered traders.

While it is true the March Wardens are amongst the best soldiers in Emerald Kingdom, they are also amongst the most devoted to their families. The true heart of Wyldvern lays in its tightly knit community and a spirit of good faith and fellowship.

Drake Wyldvern has arrived to represent his Noble House at the Festival.

:(:( -slinks off-

You're cold, dear. Terribly cold. Injuries, I say! Injuries!

Certainly going to be fun. There's a darker undercurrent to this in my mind and that kind of depth is nice. It blends nicely with the fantastical elements.

How'd that Yankees game turn out Tears? :D

I'm guesssing this is sorta an OOC so I'll throw my hat in the ring. I know I took a powder from the last Fantasia thread, but I'm recommited and confident in my ability to keep it moving.

Am I still welcome?

I'm thrilled for this to get started. Seriously. I haven't done a good fantasy concept in ages.

I has work for most of today, but business has been so slow that I'll have time to get some writing done. The IC will be up tonight... tomorrow at the latest.

Slow for you, too?

I work with a bunch of geeks. They're great guys but when left without suitable amounts of work they turn downright intolerable. They've spent the better part of today playing World of Warcraft on the projection screen in our room. If they had any other taste in games it might be just fine but hearing that for hours on end is...

Yikes.

I'm thinking of buying them a 360 for X-Mas. At least that way we can geek out together.
