but yet black Americans pay the price every day for what white slaveowners did to them 150 years ago.

Hell, we pay the price every day for what Jim Crow southerners did to us less than FIFTY years ago!

Lost economic opportunities we've never been able, or often been allowed to recover from?

Continuing acts of racism. (Stormfront, anyone? The KKK, anyone? Skinheads, anyone?)

Whole black cities blown off the map by white mobs. (1923 Rosewood massacre, anyone?)



Why do we have to keep paying the price for what your ancestors did?

I won't even get into what you owe the Native Americans for every moment you live on land your ancestors killed them to take...
 
So when do you stop the blame? I and my family had NOTHING to do with the slave trade, yet you would slam me for my pale skin? I admit that there are still issues, but when do we call a spade a spade and admit that their own people conquorde each other, and sold them to others, and set the precident? At this moment ANY minorty will be favored over my (non-ever-slave-holding) husband for a job....thoughts? I am not saying that the share of taxes to inner city slums in fair, but I AM saying, that I had nothing to do with it, and work my ass off to try and help others, REGARDLESS...
 
Or maybe we'll just wait for the nation's demographics to change.

SamuelX might be right - it could just be better to wait until non-whites are the majority.

Maybe there'll be a reverse version of the 1921 Tulsa Riots. :D Can't wait to see that, and the resulting "Why can't we all get along" whining...

When blacks stop having to pay the price for what your ancestors did, then I will start to care.

Every day I'm confronted with having to do charity cleanup for the damage done to blacks in America. I could never be rich enough to handle that whole task - and why should I?

Every day you live high off the hog from the benefits of black slavery. You can't deny that. You won't deny that. I think you should be made to chip in some of those benefits.

Its not "if" but "when" non-whites will become a majority in the US, England, Europe and Australia. There are a lot of non-white students being abused in Australia today.

People tend to learn to change the hard way.

I think those who called Martin Luther King - "Coon" - are racists. You know who they are on this board.

When ANYONE can stop "living high off the hog" from ANYONES suffering, the world will have readched nirvana, and all will be moot. However, I do the best that I can, give to viable charities, and reach out to others, regardless of race or color...what else COULD i do? I have done the best that I can, without causing harm to my family, and am willing to hold out for that. I do NOT live "high off the hog"...i live by the sweat of my brow, and the fraying of my nervous system. I do the best that i can.

I AM native american...not that it matters. I am an AMERICAN. many bloods run in me, and i Honor them all. regardless, i do the best i can, and try to reach out to those who wish for change

When i stop having to shoulder the burden for acts that no one has had an active part in for 30+ years. when the world decides to get it's head out of it's ass, and realize it's all about the person, not the tint. When it's a realization that holding the current generation hostage to something they were not even around to PROTEST and fight against, and yet have others hold over their head...Le Jaqelope, i urge you to STOP stirring the pot, and come us with some actual solutions. I and mine have done the best we can, but it is those like you who will curse the effort while commenting on the inequality.
