National Nude Day (July 14)
themes: public nudity, exhibitionism, etc.
starts: June 20
closes: July 11
winners announced: July 18

The Nude Day contest may seem a long way away, and I usually get moans about starting these threads too soon but immediately after the last contest can be when inspiration strikes - or not. Motivation may be lacking now but get your mind thinking about how to get your characters naked and sexy - now, not in the last few days before the contest begins.

As before, this thread is to encourage authors to write and enter, to support them when the muses fly away, to sympathise when trolls attack, and to shamelessly beg for votes.

For anyone who hasn't entered a themed Literotica contest before:

The advantages are that once you enter, your entry and all your writing gets more attention, votes, feedback and PCs than it would otherwise get. You also get support from members of the Author's Hangout.

The disadvantages are that you will also attract unwelcome attention from trolls and unenlightened critics. The sweeps of duplicated and illegal votes can cause heartbreak. You will probably curse the marking systems and fail to understand how they could possibly have done that to you. It can be a bumpy ride. If you want to know HOW bumpy, read one of the previous support threads e.g. Earth Day 2009.

If you really want your writing to improve, critics will be a factor. Entering a themed Literotica contest is one of the easier ways to get noticed.

If in doubt, go for it. You have nothing to lose but your virginity, and if you haven't lost it yet, what are you doing here?

Og

PS. And you could be eligible for the Author's Hangout Last Place (tm) Contest and win nothing but the awe and esteem of your fellow-writers.

PPS. As usual there's a plug for my essay: Entering A Themed Literotica Contest. You will also find more helpful advice from others in the How-To section of the stories listed on Literotica. Some of that advice is much more helpful than mine because after all I'm the instigator of the Last Place Contest.

My entry for the summer contest is written and waiting but somehow National Nude Day doesn't get my juices flowing. Perhaps that's because when I look in the mirror I have such severe doubts about going nude anywhere but the shower. :D

I actually started writing my Nude Day story a few weeks ago. Yeah yeah I know. Please don't beat me up for boasting. It's not even half way finished and I keep changing things.

I will love reading the stories for the contest and once again making my predictions and such.

One thing I will say right now is that I think there were some Earth Day contest entries that would have been better in the Nude Day contest. They seem so similar that maybe next year they should change one of them. Just a random comment.

I've got you beat on that one Erin. I wrote most of mine a year ago and never finished it in time for the contest. So now it's ready to go this time, just need to do a few minor modifications. Besides, it's still two months away.

I might just stay out on this one. Don't know for sure. Good luck to all that enter. Who knows? Maybe I'll get an idea in the next month.

I'm thinking that I'll skip this one as well, barring a major flash of inspiration. My last two entries on this theme just didn't feel as well rounded and alive as they should have to me.

Might do reviews again, similar to what I did a while back, or something a little more overview-with-favorites, similar to what SR71 did shortly after my review thread.

I should really be working on the half-finished stories cramming my working folder anyhow :p

This will be my first contest to enter, although I am skeptically optimistic, see what the trolls have in store for a new guy.

I wouldn't be too skeptical, I don't think they are any harder on newbies. I finished 2nd the first contest I entered, so you never know what can happen. I was shocked.

I had a story for earth day, but decided to sit on it till '10, wanted to observe a bit, but i decided trial by fire may be best.

I agree you have to get your feet wet and just dive in. Contests are a great way to get exposure

Unless I get some major inspiration, I'm passing on this one. Nothing I have in mind is even a close fit.

So where do I go to get info?

I haven't entered a contest yet and I have several stories published on here. It's about that time! But when and where do I go to get the information? Do I have to wait until June before I can even read the whole point of the contest?

Thanks.

I will be posting two stories, and neither of them has any sex. They have nudity, of course, but no sex.

explain nude day

How can one day be more nude than another?

I agree with you. I honestly thought that Summer came first and wrote a story that is about the end of school and the beginning of summer only to find that here on Lit, summer begins in August. Hello? On whose calendar?

Anyway, National Nude day makes me think of overweight middle-aged former hippies all shedding their Armani and Gucci's, putting them in the trunk of the ol' Beemer and pretending to be rebellious. Bilious!

Q about song lyrics

part bump/part announcement that i've got my story done! going to sit on it for a week or two before i start editing and dressing it all up to make it look pretty for its cotillion.

does anyone know what literotica's policy is on using song lyrics? if i credit it properly at the end, will they let me use it (i.e., copyright, songwriters, music publishing info)

Not an expert on this subject mind you, but I have read several stories where the author did exactly what you have suggested, but to be on the safe side I would recommend you send Laurel, a PM, ask Kitty Mama, Dude!
