The mall was the last place one would expect to meet a celebrity, let alone one from another country. And yet, it was at the mall, while shopping in a video game store for something new to play that Kain Cirrus met her. One of Japan's biggest pop starlets, in the flesh. It had been by accident, actually. They had both reached for the same game and butted heads, literally. He apologized profusely, then looked at who he was apologizing to. His eyes widened, and he was about to say something when her hand clamped over his mouth, and she put a finger to her lips, shushing him. He blinked in confusion, then nodded slowly. When she took her hand away, she smiled, and took the game. Oddly, she had grabbed two copies, and gone up to the counter. He sighed, then shook his head. He walked towards the exit of the store, and was surprised when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned around just in time to be handed the second copy of the game. He blinked again, looking at her, and couldn't help but return the smile she gave him. Then he watched her start to walk away.

OOC: looking for a lady to take up the role of a Japanese pop/rock artist.

Koda

Koda smiled at the guy, then giggled softly as he smiled back at her, obviously shocked that she'd bought him the second copy of the game. Again, she raised her finger to her lips to shush him, to prevent him from drawing attention to her. She was dressed casually for the shopping trip, with sunglasses and a cute little hat, and she'd been somewhat shocked that no one had noticed her yet. Of course, the fact that she was on vacation and far from Japan helped; she was both relieved and a little bit disapointed that she wasn't as well known here as she was back home.

She waved goodbye to the guy as she started to walk away... she was hungry, and the smells coming from the mall's food court were too much to resist.

Nick stared at the copy of the game for a few moments, then looked up at the retreating figure. On an impulse, he followed her out. He caught up with her just as she got to the food court, and smiled disarmingly. "Can I buy you lunch to pay you back for the game? It's the least I can do, Miss. After all, not many pop stars come through here."

She stopped, then turned around and smiled again. He'd followed her, his game still clutched absently in a hand.

"Well," she said, "I guess so, only the food here isn't that expensive. I'm afraid it won't be a fair trade for you."

Nick smiled, considering that. "Well, if you'd prefer, I could go take you somewhere. I was going to do some shopping. Besides, you look like you're trying to avoid notice. The best way for a beautiful woman to avoid attention is out on a date, right?"

Koda

"So it's a date you're asking me on?" she replied as she looked at him over the tops of her sunglasses. She let him dangle for a second, thinking he'd overstepped the boundary, then smiled. "That's a great idea! Where are we going to go?" she asked, then paused. "But first, I suspect you already know my name. But what's yours?"

Nick grinned sheepishly. "Uh...I wouldn't presume...that is, if you want it to be..." She cut him off, and asked his name. He smiled, and nodded. "I'm Nick. And I have to say, you're far more beautiful in person, Miss Koda. Uh, let's see. Places to go. There's an arcade. A movie theater. If you want, we could go to a restaurant and have a real date."

Koda

Koda twisted her lips in thought. "Hmm... well... I've been out all day and I'm feeling a bit hungry. I vote for restaurant! Take me somewhere good!" She smiled and reached out to clasp his hand in hers. "Lead the way, Nick!"

Nick blushed, and held her hand. He considered the best places to take her, then nodded. "You didn't bring a car, did you? If so, you might want to make sure it's locked up." He smiled, as he led her out to an old truck. "Sorry it's not a sports car. I prefer utilitarian vehicles most of the time."

He grinned sheepishly again, then opened the passenger door for her.

Koda

"I'm staying at that hotel just over there," she said as she pointed out the Mariott down the street, "So no worries about a car."

She smiled as she saw his truck. "Ooh! I was hoping you had a truck, to be honest!" She clambered up into the passenger seat with a giggle.

Nick grinned, and kissed her hand before closing the door. He walked around to the other side, and climbed up in, buckling his seat belt. He started the engine, and turned on the stereo. A CD of her music was playing, which made him a little embarrassed. He reached to turn it off as he pulled out of the parking lot. He was a little surprised to find her hand there first, turning it up. He blushed again, and cleared his throat.

Koda giggled as her fingers brushed against his as he tried to turn off the CD. "So," she said as she sat back to listen to her own music. "You seem to have pretty good taste in music!" She giggled again. "And where are we headed for food?"

Nick blushed at her gentle teasing. Then he shrugged at her question. He considered that for a moment. Then he asked her what she was in the mood for. "What do you feel like? Pasta? Seafood? Mexican? Burgers?"

To be honest, he was a little out of sorts. He'd never expected to meet her at all, let alone under the circumstances that now had them headed out on a date. Still, he knew most of the restaurants in town.

Koda

Koda twisted her lips up as she thought, then smiled. "Well, this is the USA, after all, so I should probably go somewhere America-flavored, yeah? So lets go get burgers!"

Nick grinned sheepishly. "Well, technically, the only REAL American food is Pizza. It was invented by a Sicilian family after they moved here. But burgers sound good." He pulled out of the parking lot, and headed for a restaurant downtown. "They have some of the biggest burgers in fast food here. They're grilled, too, instead of fried."

Koda

"Sounds good to me," Koda said, puzzling a little about Nick's pizza comment. She'd always thought Pizza was Itallian, but his comment seemed strange and unexpected enough that it had the ring of truth to it. For several minutes, the two of them sat in awkward silence, so when Nick finally pulled into the parking lot of the burger place, Koda was eager to get out of the car. Something about Nick was really intriguing her, but she wasn't sure what it was...

Nick smiled, looking at her as they pulled into a parking space. "Do you want to eat here, or go somewhere less crowded to do so?" He opened the door, and walked around to the other side. Then he opened the passenger door for her, and helped her down from the truck.

Koda

"Let's eat here," she said, as she clambered out of the truck and tugged her shirt back down... it had ridden up in the back during the ride. As she tugged her shirt, she caught Nick's eyes glancing down at the small of her back, and she smiled at him but said nothing to indicate she'd seen the glance.

"I'll go grab us a booth; bring me something yummy!"

Nick had caught a very nice glance of her back. It sent a shiver down his spine, and he had to force himself to look away. At her suggestion that they go ahead and eat there, and that she'd pick out a booth, he nodded. He smiled at her request, and went up to the counter. After a few minutes, he placed their order.

He ordered a Frisco burger, which was a large beef patty, Swiss cheese, bacon, veggies, and mayo on grilled sourdough for himself, and for her, after a couple moments thought, a chili cheese Thickburger. That, he figured, was about as American as it got. Then he got a couple of milk shakes and a couple of orders of curly fries.

Koda

Koda's eyes widened as Nick brought the trays of food back to their table. Her mouth dropped open as well.

"Wow... how many cows do you suppose are in one of those things?" she asked with a giggle. She cocked her head to the side and chewed her lower lip, trying to get a handle on the enormous hamburger but not seeing how she was going to be able to eat it without making an incredible mess.

Nick grinned at her teasing joke. He set the tray down on the table, and smiled, looking at her. "Doesn't seem much like fast food, does it? A while back, the guy in charge of the company made a monumental decision. As a result, it may very well have changed the face of the industry. A lot of other companies are following suit, making bigger burgers out of real beef."

He shrugged, then took a bite of his burger. He chewed for a bit, then swallowed and grinned. "And they taste good too."

Koda

Koda watched as Nick took a bite, then tried one herself. He was right; the burger was delicious. It was also incredibly messy, and try as she might, she was having a hell of a time not dripping any mustard on her shirt. Still, she was hungry, and their conversation lapsed as they ate.

When they were finished, Koda looked down at the mess she'd made. It really wasn't that bad, but there were spots of mustard and ketchup on her shirt anyway.

"Aww crap," she cursed. "I made a mess of myself."

Nick smiled, and handed her napkins. "We should go do some laundry. The chili cheese fries did a similar number on mine." He swiped his mouth with a napkin, then his hands, and stood up. He took the tray up to the garbage, dumped the contents, and put it on top of the can's casing. Then he looked at her, and smiled again. "Shall we go?"

Koda

Koda did what she could to control the damage to her clothes, but the stain was just getting worse as she rubbed at it with the napkin. Frustrated, she tossed the napkin into the trash. "Yeah, I guess you'd better give me a ride back to the hotel so I can get this fixed before it sets in and ruins it. There's a laundry room at the hotel, I'm sure..."

Nick nodded, and started for the door. "Unless you'd rather do your laundry at my place." He headed out and opened the door for her.
