Alone in the Mountains (Closed to Kypanther)
IC:
It was the end of the quarter, as such, Chris Hawke, a recently gradated MBA finance major, knew he would be busy. It was a difficult week in more ways than one, added to the stress of his job and the mountains of paperwork he had to process to report the quarterly figures, his girlfriend of 6 months had broken up him about a week ago.
“You just care about your job more than you do about me ...” she said as she slammed the door behind her. Her words still echoing in his head as he slaved away at spreadsheet after spreadsheet. He needed to get away. Somewhere he could focus his thoughts and think about what he really wanted out of life.
Friday couldn’t come soon enough and with that he rushed home and collected his hiking boots, backpack, tent, sleeping bag, and enough food to last him for a couple of days. He knew that one should never backpack alone in the mountains, but it was the only place where he absolutely knew there would be no one around. He parked his car at the trailhead and looked onwards to the mountains and the hilly blanket of dark evergreens that stood before him and the remote glacier lake nestled 12 km from where he stood. The air was still and warm and the sun beamed warmly in the early afternoon.
It was a challenging climb, but he was in fairly good shape, although his thighs started to burn with pain every step he took as he scrambled up the summit to the glacier lake. He was out of breath, physically tired, but it was all worth it. The mirror like lake shimmered before him as the sun had started it’s decent illuminating the water in a golden hue. He paused and breathed deeply, enjoying his surroundings, throwing off his pack and removing his boots and looked around at the perfection surrounding him. With that he removed his shorts and shirt and lay his clothes next to his boots beside a large tree about 10 metres from the shoreline – He couldn’t wait to submerge himself in the cool gentle waters and just be alone with nature. The cool water seemly caressed his sore leg muscles as he waded deeper into the water. “All alone ...” he whispered to himself – finally getting the reprieve that he had desired. But was he really alone??? ...
OC: Looking for a patient female roleplayer. I've been away from Lit for a while, but I should be able to post at least once a day. Looking for someone that is relatively detailed (short posts are ok - but it shouldn't just be one liner posts). Start your role in whichever way you see fit -
