i agree about the fireplace but would choose to either remove it or reface it and make it functional again.

From what i saw the walls were decent, grout on floors in tough shape so would need some work, but a majority of the main house is pretty cheap cosmetic. (Know nothing about the systems, outside or roof)

That said, I like your house. I'm a fan of the pre-war interiors. They're narrow and oddly shaped but they have a style that's I've always enjoyed.

EE is right. It needs a total overhaul. Unfortunately that's just the way it is with kitchens. You simply can't keep the style and add more. They just weren't built that way and still aren't really. You have to start from scratch and that's expensive as all hell.
