How to spank quietly?

I’m sure that this situation has come up before, but I haven’t been able to find a solution yet.

Now that my wife and I have a baby sleeping in the next room, we are concerned about waking him. We sometimes enjoy spanking each other in the bedroom, but we recently noticed that spanking with a belt is REALLY loud. Some of the spanking devices that I’ve seen online seem to make spanking even louder. Does anyone have any suggestions for devices which will make spanking quieter? Using a hand is pretty loud too. How about a crop, a flogger, or a short whip? I’ve seen a variety of devices at JT’s Stockroom.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Sorry but my only suggestion is to spank over the clothes,I know that sucks the real effect is only felt bare bottom

Not allowing the hand to rebound from the spankee will reduce the sound a tad, but not tremendously. As far as the sound from a belt being really loud, try using a braided belt

which I've used in the past. Once it's gotten good and flexible, the sound quotient decreases quite a bit, and the roughness of the braid adds an interesting "texture," too.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Spanking over clothes does sound like a bummer, but I'll keep that in mind as a last resort. My wife may have a braided belt that we could try. A riding crop looks like it might be quieter too. It doesn't have to be silent, but I'm looking for something significantly quieter than the loud "slap" that the belt gives off. Maybe a white noise machine in the either room would be helpful.

Riding crops aren't generally very quiet if you're using them with any amount of force. ;)

Thanks for the warning ;). They look fun, so maybe we'll have to try one out when we can be as loud as we want.

How about a flogger? Most of them at TJ's Stockroom are fairly expensive. I guess that these can be used over more parts of the body.

Depending on how much sting you want the flogger to have, you can certainly get one that will be much quieter than a hand. I made my own out of 1" dowel, an eye screw and 1/8" leather thong. I do some leather work that's not fetish related and had the parts on hand. It's not the prettiest piece in the world, but the wife really seems to like it. All told, the parts cost less than 10$ U.S.
Another homebrew option is a length of 1/4"-3/8" dowel with one end sanded smooth. It makes a kind of beginners cane. Good bit of sting with a little impact. If you're completely new to caning, check out the BDSM library and go to the link about Sensuous Caning.

a white noise machine would certainly help.

or, if you and the baby are the only ones in the house, try moving it out of the bedroom. bring a baby monitor wth you so you can still hear the baby if thats what your worried about and bend her over the dining room table or something

try putting some distance between you and the baby.

I don't know ... with us the problem is not the sound of the spanking per se, it's my yelps and screams. And for that, a gag works wonder :D

As for a more serious suggestion: a white noise machine is a good idea.

Canes aren't terribly noisy, and, as mentioned, floggers can be pretty quiet too. You can also wear a glover, that'll help. I like driving gloves, the finer the leather the better. It is similar to spanking through clothing, but I have certainly had no complaints from it.

If noise in general is the issue, distance and a closed door will help.
With older children, and privacy being more of an issue, music works well to mask the sounds from spanking.

Yes, a white noise machine in the baby's room would help a lot and not just in this situation. You might also try classical music for the baby. It helps their little brains grow. :) I have a CD player with a repeat button on it but I bet a more hip mom would have an ipod of baby music ready to play during mommy and daddy's playtime.

Great question! That is certainly a problem in our household with older kids and younger ones too. It has definely put a crimp in our lifestyle. Just the other night my wife was spanking my butt and a young one woke up. I have also seen a post here in the past from a lady who craved spankings and her whole relationship with her husband went bellyup after one of the older kids asked why mommy was getting spanked and the husband went into permanent hibernation with their sex lives. An idea I came up with the other day was to fake going out to dinner and the movies and go to a somewhat inexpensive hotel instead and get as wild as we want with things that are just too hard to do at home anymore, especially noise related ideas.

Don't spend good money on floggers or such if you're looking for something quiet. I have two suggestions for you:

1. Plastic hanger - I find the ones that are all plastic and have the bottom rung to hang skirts or pants on the best. It can be mild to medium, but I have a high pain threshold. They're very quiet and I'm sure you already have one :D

2. UPC cable - this hurts like hell, so be careful. I've used the cable to connect my digital camera to my computer, but make sure to wrap the metal parts tightly in your hands so nobody gets really hurt. Seriously, stings like mad and makes no noise at all!

Have fun!

Can you imagine the trouble this problem gives in hotel/motel rooms?

The smacks are only part of the problem.... take a really good gag with you!

Thanks again for the tips and suggestions. I think that leaving the TV on in the living room would be a good idea. We already have a CD player in the baby's room with some baby music. I'll look for the coat hanger and computer cord, although I think that a flogger would be a fun thing to have anyway.

A large flogger with thick, wide tails will probably be thuddy and pretty loud. A smaller one with thinner tails will probably be stingy and not as loud. I don't have a good rule of thumb or anything, but I have a huge, heavy thick-tailed flogger, and that thing is LOUD.

I had the same problem you have. Actually, I didn't sweat it when there was one baby in the house but as they grew older, even in separate rooms the sound was a concern for me.

Out of trial and error and a hell of a lot of desire I developed a technique that worked for me for many years. I opened (splayed) my fingers and spanked with them. I avoided cupping my hand and avoided using the palm of my hand. It takes some getting used to. But hey, practice is great! haha. As I built up strength for the new/different stresses my hand was experiencing and developed a technique, I got to the point where I could administer quite an effective flesh-to-flesh, hand-to-the-ass, bare bottom spanking. It felt empowering that I was able to conquer my environment, practice discretion for my family and practice my kink in the bedroom all at the same time.

Good luck!

I wouldn't enjoy spanking without sound: The slap of the palm against the flesh of a lovely behind; the slight gasp of breath as the hand strikes; the whimpering when the pain increases; and, of course, the pleas for mercy.
