My Thread

The deer fly and the horse fly are tied as my least favorite insect.

Last week, I learned that they are afraid of their main predator, the dragonfly.

And a fake dragonfly pinned to the back of your hat will keep them away.

Happy!

Hi Dick...speaking of anal glands, my dog had hers squeezed two days ago...infected, antibiotics, $450.

She's been very obedient since...I think she thinks the Vet shaving her ass and fingering her pooper was punishment.

True.

My cottage handyman makes dragonflies out of pipe cleaners with shaped paper clips covered in scotch tape for the wings.

He gave me a couple last week ...they work great on the back of a summer hat!

Mine is a Quiksilver I bought at Sportchek....I think it has an Escobar vibe to it.

I don't have a cottage handyman. But the kid next door made me a few fake dragonflies to scare away the fake deer and horse flies.
I don't have a summer hat. But they worked great on my winter stocking cap.

My guess is that it's just the summer hat keeping them away
Lance in a summer hat would be enough to keep me away
Nuisance birds are afraid of owls
You should put a stuffed owl on your summer hat when you're in the garden.

Nope...tried it both ways; the dragonfly pin is the factor.

Why not tether an actual dragon-fly?

Jokes aside, this idea is awesome for anyone living in the Midwest or other lake areas where those fuckers thrive.

I now have visuals of the man in Garden of Good and Evil who had flies tethered to his hat. So thanks for that.

Thanks to all of the pond-age and rain, we are always dragon and damselfly rich...

They are almost as cool as the hummingbirds.

Got a Fly Problem??.....
A hitchhikers guide to hijacking flies:
Place a finished but not cleaned jam jar outside in the sun.
Wait for several flies to become stuck in the jam.
Place the jar lid loosley on and place jar in the fridge.
After an hour or so, the flies should be in cryogenic type slumber.
Glue 2 matches into the shape of a cross(crucifix style) and half a match onto the bottom so it looks like a miniture plane.
Tie a long thread or fishing line to the middle of the cross.
Use tweezers(dont kill the snoozing flies) and glue to attach flies to the wing area of the 'Plane'.
Take the 'plane' out into the warm sun and as the flies emerge from their stasis watch that little freak show soar.. Hold onto the thread or you'll loose it.

Enjoy..
