LOST rp (OOC Planning and Casting Thread)

Open to males and females, as many as possible! People can join continuously even after we get started.

The best part is that there is so much about LOST and The Island we STILL don't know. We can come up with our own answers and play it how we want.



First and foremost, I'd like this to be a collaboration between the players. I don't want to say "This is where the story starts" and demand people follow me. Hopefully those interested can come to an agreement on 'when' in the LOST time we want start. More than one scenario could possibly come out of this if we get along well.

Note: Don't be frightened if this seems like a lot of information. It's not really rules and you don't have to worry about a short bio unless you want an original character. Most of this is me rambling and trying to be helpful. And being overly detailed on things we probably don't need. If you want to participate but feel what I've outlined here is not for you, please don't run! Post or PM me with why you're concerned. I'd hate to scare anyone away. I'll scrap it and just let it roll if that's what people want. Knowledge of the show can be fudged a bit and those who know it better can help you out if you need it. Hopefully I don't come off as sounding controlling, but I'm used to doing a lot of pre-planning. I haven't kicked that habit yet. I want this to be fun and enjoyable, with some good writing for characters we love.



Wanted: People who...

• are willing to collaborate on idea brainstorming and would like to be involved in story planning if we need it.
  
• have a good understanding of the show's timeline and the characters (and who know that within this series time is relative )
  
• are willing to write at least one paragraph. More would be even better. I like detail and knowing what drives a character.
  
• would like to play characters from the show and would do their best to keep them within character depending on what we know up to this point (The end of season 4).
  
• will not be biased towards certain characters unless the character you play is known to have problems with them within the show. For example. Hugo and Sawyer have become fairly close. Don't make Hurly hate Sawyer for no reason just because *you* may not like the Sawyer character.
  
• are open to possibly straying from the show's storyline if we choose. (this is a given I think)

Character claim, original characters, & Info

Claiming Characters
Post saying who you want to claim and describe why. Just a few sentences saying why the character appeals to you. Once you've done that, I will update the character list with your claim.

For instance, I want to take Kate Austen. I would post...

Character Claim: Katherine "Kate" Austen
Why: I love exploring Kate's angsty thoughts and her relationships with Jack and Sawyer. She appeals to me because even though she's a known murderer and fugitive, she has shown a softer, more vulnerable side. I look forward to exploring her tough side as well as her inner emotions.

Original Characters
Original characters for this story will be allowed, but my main hope is for people to take up parts of existing show characters. One person can play more than one character.

If you want or need to interact with a character who isn't claimed by someone else, we will be free to control them.

Alignment: Survivor of Flight 815: Beach or Tailie / The Others / The Hostiles / Other (example: Desmond was marooned on the island during a storm) / Whidemore
Support: Who do you follow and why? Say Jack if you want to be rescued. Locke if you want to stay on the island. If you're an other, Ben would probably be your best choice. As for Why, maybe you want to stay because you were cured of a sickness. You want to leave because you miss home and/or are sick of being afraid of the scary Island happenings. If you're an Other, maybe you were lured to the island for research, or maybe you were an original inhabitant (a Hostile) like Richard Alpert.

Personality: How are they with other people? How do they feel about themselves? How has crashing affected them? How do they feel about the strange events on the island?
Physical Description: Eye and hair color. Build. Type of dress? Scars?
Background: Who were they off the island? Where did you grow up? Did they have a Family? What was their Job? Why were they flying on 815? If you're an Other, what is your specialty? (Example: Ethan was a surgeon)



The Others
When I refer to The Others versus The Hostiles, The Others are members of the Dharma Initiative who joined ranks with the original Island inhabitants. It also refers to those who came to the Island after Dharma was massacred - Think people like Juliet Burke.

The Hostiles are the people who were on the Island before the Dharma Initiative came in. The term Hostile, for the most part, will be used when someone wants to play an OTHER and was on the Island before Dharma showed up. Just so we can tell the difference.

But of course, once the groups are merged, The Others are what both sets of people are called by Rousseau and the survivors of the crash.

Confused yet? The Beauty of LOST.



Group Controlled Characters
These are characters we will consider too insignificant to be claimed by a person, or ones unable to be claimed. For instance, Vincent is a dog. Therefore I think everyone can play him as a NPC. Other NPCs could include family members of survivors (from flashbacks and flash forwards) and minor non-main characters.

The first post of the actual Roleplay thread will have a character list of claimed characters and original characters. For now, this is simply for reference purposes. People can see who belongs where and maybe help them decide who they want to play. It will count as the claim until we get the IC thread started.

Are you reviving some of those that have been killed or died? Such as Boone and Shannon?

How do you feel about bringing an unknown on? Maybe someone that has been held captive by the others for years and escapes?

I'd be perfectly okay with having dead characters be alive in the rp. We could maybe start from the crash and play things so certain chars haven't died. Like an Alternate Universe! I like it.

And an unknown is fine! You can play multiple ones if you want, also

This could have ben fun. Even if we might have found 4-5 good writers initerested. I'v tried a few big group RPs and I juts like them. Keeping it to about 5-6 people or under works great fr me.

I'm certainly gunna try to get this going again, even if its only us. Hehe.

Ok gang. I'm going to post a new OOC thread soon so we can start completely fresh and smaller.

I'm open for RPing during any time of the series. Do we want to start from the crash? Or at a point in one of the later seasons?

Starting from the crash can give us a chance to do things entirely different. But we won't have any dealings with the Others right away until the chars a bit settled and past the introduction.

Just throwing ideas out there. Feedback feedback feedback!!!

Crash sounds good to me too. Since there are only a few of us, I would suggest some made-up characters - especially since my main one won't come in until later. *pouts* And I want to play. *S*

No way are we going to leave you out, my dear -hugs-

If this were to happen, I'm thinking all brand new characters - none from the canon show.
