I don't know if this has already been addessed here. If so, please excuse the duplicative effort.
Several people have been asking me (in the General Board, AmPic Board, and via Personal Message) how they can upload a picture (an adult content picture, for example) so it appears in their post -- people don't have to click on anything to see the picture; it's righ there on the screen with the text of the post.
There are many ways to do this. This is the way I do it. It may seem like a lot of steps, but once you get used to it, you can do all of it in under a minute.
If you are not used to computers yet, it might be a good idea to print out these instructions because the steps open a lot of windows at the same time and that might become frustrating while you hunt for the next step.
Here's what I do:
1. Go register at any free online posting service. I use http://www.imagesocket.com
for my pictures. They might send you a confirming email, I don't remember if they did or did not.
2. Put the image you wish to use on your Desktop for easy locating. Upload the picture you want (they have no "rules" as to what you can and cannot upload, unlike "photobucket,” which bitch-monitors everything so kids can access it. Imagesocket.com simply asks you to click whether the image has Adult content or not, so they can screen kids out with their RTA (reserved to adults) screen.
3. Once you see the next screen, with a thumbnail of your upload, verifying that the picture was uploaded, go up to the top and click "Members." That brings up a list of ALL of your pictures. Nobody can find the list except you, BTW.
4. Click on the picture you just uploaded, for example, and it opens a new screen that shows a full size image of it.
5. Right Click the image and select "Properties" That brings up a little box on the right side of your screen.
6. Highlight the part that says "URL Address" and Click to copy it.
7. Go to whatever part of Lit. you wish (Private Message), AV, a posting you are preparing for a thread, etc.
8. Type: and then right click and Paste the URL address you just copied. Be sure there are no spaces -- it all just runs together. 9. At the end of the line, Type: That tells Literotica that it is to go to that server and imbed the image you uploaded directly (“hotlink”)
10. I always Preview a post with an image before I submit it, since sometimes I screw up the copy and paste part and it’s annoying to find broken links all over the boards.
11. Note; the reason one goes through these extra steps, rather than simply using the “Code” or URL at the thumbnail stage, is because many servers don’t permit “hotlinking” to all web sites, often including Literotica.com That’s why, in step 1. above, you registered, so you can get the “Members” version of your image – and that URL will hot link to Lit in full size.
12. It’s also nice if you use a free program, such as “infranview” to reduce the size of your picture BEFORE you upload it to imagesocket.com or some other service, since these services will hotlink the full size image, which may be annoying to other Lit posters, as the presence of an oversize image screws up their ability to see the entire page width – of the whole page! The threads that are all about high quality images, of course, often have oversize pictures and that’s okay with most people, since they are aware that that’s what’s going on in that thread.
The same rules, found in the Terms of Service apply to content you "hotlink", so you might want to check out those rules again to be sure you aren't violating any of them.
