define actively or non actively religious.. do you mean attend service, perform rituals?

Yup, basically you put the work into it, whatever you believe that work is.

So no going to church once a year on christmas sort of thing.

It would be more accurate to say I'm observant, rather than religious, but I did answer.

I'm curious to know what correlation your looking for here. I'm willing to bet that the crowd in this particular forum doesn't fit the normal mold of "religious" just due to the general open-minded and introspective nature that abounds. If you've spent a decent amount of time questioning and really defining one part of your life, you're more likely to have done so with other parts, including religion.
I'm personally atheist, which I think lends itself towards being the switch that I am.

I am switch and I am passivly athiest.

Too damn lazy to actively believe in anything at all.:)

Submissive and agnostic. Someone's been trying to get me to go to a UU church but organized spirituality of any sort is just not my thing.

Its not that I'm not actively religious, its that I'm not at all religious whatsoever.

("Vee are nihilists! Vee believe in nothing! Yeah, nothing! Tomorrow vee come back and vee cut off your johnson! Yeah may vee stomp on it and sqvush it!")

Religious vs. Fundamentalist

I am submissive and actively, rather seriously religious, and my husband is dominant but religious- probably more seriously than I am, because he studies and works at it.

Many people in the kink world have a perception that religon is, by nature, conservative and prudish. Although this is sort of true of fundamentalists, it doesn't apply to religious people as a whole.

Many people in the vanilla community see religion that way too. And its a hard stereotype to shake, any way you look at it.

I was raised reform Jew, basically, in a generally open-minded place. Conservative and prudish are two words that do not come to mind when I think of my religious/spiritual upbringing. I was never taught that sex was bad, for example. We learned, no lie, in Hebrew school, during sex you are closest to God. I was also taught that Jews are not only allowed but are compelled to question everything. So I don't see my religion as words completely set in stone, but more like a living thing. I know not everyone has had that experience as a Jew, but it has been mine.

Here we go with the Jews again.....

I'm a dominant rationalist materialist atheist who reads the OT 30 min. every day and thinks "I shoulda been back in Bible days...I'm a square peg in this modern world...."

I am not religious, but you do realize the D:s ratio on this board is going to kind of mess this up a bit?

I also think there's no escaping the philosophy of the religion of your culture. My outlook remains very Jewish (not Zionist, Jewish) and I'm certain no one assimilated into US culture doesn't get some sense of values from Christianity - whenever you look at something mainstream that you think is being kind of preachy, ask yourself what's being preached.

This is why a lot of the rest of us are getting fed up, frankly. If I had a kid I would NOT be happy with someone spoon feeding them the idea that hitting back is as bad as hitting.

I don't think open-mindedness and introspection automatically translates to rejecting religion. I think in many cases the opposite can be true too.

I think their is the stereotypically version of the religious person, who accepts everything blindly. But their are also those who are intelligent, tolerant, and open, who see believing as truth.

And I know they their are religious people here, they just aren't as outspoken about their belief as the atheists appear to be.

Yes, but once a good number of votes come in, you can take doms for example, make them a whole and find percents of active/non active, then do the same to subs and switches. I am sure their are lots of other ways to analyze this date too, my brain is just in the state of mush at the moment.

Should say something though

Love you? I am you! Well, 25% anyhow.

That's where all my perversity comes from. The rest is whitebread wasp.

25%? Thats enough. I don't know if my perversity comes from being jewish, but it sure doesn't hurt!

Oo, oo! That's me! So yeah, just your friendly neighborhood Christian here! :D I was raised Christian, but since then have spent quite a bit of time and energy making sure my faith is built on a solid relationship with God, rather than passively accepting what my parents taught me. And so hey, here I am, voting "submissive and actively religious"... though "religious" has kind of stringent, legalistic, close-minded connotations to me. But that's just me. ;)

We could say "spiritual" instead of "religious" since people don't like the connotations of that word

I'm a switch and not actively religious. I'd call myself "spiritual," though.

Ok, you do realize that this is a porn board, and that any polls you put up about D/s and religion won't necessarily be consistent of the rest of the BDSM community, cause a lot of actively religious people won't go anywhere near a porn board?

Oh, sub - actively religious, but I think everyone knows that.
