I'm looking into buying some kind of stimulating cream/gel for my clitoris, so I thought I'd ask all you knowledgeable (and pervy) people if you've experiences with this kind of product. I was just looking at O my and Zestra and then found a whole slew of other products, too.
I've been having some trouble coming lately and I think it's because of my meds. It doesn't feel like my clit isn't getting the kind of stimulation that it used to, and I know sexual side-effects are common with anti-depressants, but I'm hoping I can minimize them (because it's REALLY beginning to frustrate me).

Can anyone help??

I can't remember any product names sorry..... but I went to a hotel party (for swingers) and there was a room with a Pure Romance woman there who was selling her wares........ very sexy at that too.... the lady I was with bought a couple things that just drove her nuts instantly.......

Actually, no not in this case. I don't need a lubricant because that's not my problem. I need my body to function like it's supposed to so I can have a good orgasm again instead of the half assed ones I've been having for the last few months. It's not about saliva or my partner. It's about what my anti-depressants are doing to my body.

Anyone else have suggestions or experience overcoming med side-effects?

Your psychopharmacologist would probably be the best person to ask that, methinks. :D

But there's one suggestion that wouldn't alter your chemistry in any way:

Have you tried having an orgasm before your daily dose, when the amount of anti-mojo in your bloodstream is at its lowest?

*thinking* Yes, actually. It took me a minute to remember but there was one instance that I was away from home and couldn't take my dose, so I actually had sex a couple of times before I took my med again, and this didn't seem to make a difference.
What makes this whole thing interesting to me is that I had NO sexual side-effects for the first ten or so months of being on the med; I've been at the same dose for about 8 of those months. But for the last two months coming is really difficult and really, um, anti-climactic.

And can I just say, as a side-note, that it's really frustrating that this particular side effect would decide to rear its head when I re-enter the wonderful world of sex.

Odds are that the side-effects linger, even if missing a dose doesn't do anything for the condition it's supposed to treat.

My Babydoll dealt with this for three years in increasing severity, and the only thing that ever really seemed to overcome it was major out of the blue spontaneity. She had to go from zero - tearing off clothes in 4.5 seconds to have a truly satisfying orgasm. Barring that, it took a lot of build-up to get there at all, and she would come hard at the drop of a hat before the meds started working on her drive and sensitivity.

Whatever you do, don't let yourself worry about it when things start heating up. You can quickly turn that into a self-fulfilling prophecy. Easier said than done, I know.

I went to a toy party several months ago, and the woman tricked a couple of us into going and putting a dab on without telling us what it would do.

well sophia, you need to get out of the ssri category of antidepressant. e.g. try buproprion.
 
We tried Vebrial on Hot Mama. It felt good but the smell turned her completely off. I, on the other hand, couldn't smell a thing.
 
Sophia, I don't know what meds you're on, and I certainly am not going to ask for personal details, but I do understand about anti depressants having annoying side effects. I take (less frequently now as I don't know how safe it is to take it while pregnant) St. John's Wort, and it worked really well when I was taking it regularly. Obviously it's natural and you can get it at Whole Foods or any vitamin store at the mall, but my question to you is, would it be possible to talk to your doctor about substituting (at least temporarily to see how it works) an all natural supplement that helps with depression instead of your normal meds?

Well from the male perspective, my doctor advised me there are two factors that can lead to lessened sensitivity; diabetes and low testosterone levels. Is a possible side effect of your meds messing with your estrogen levels? No clue if it would have the same effect, but certainly possible.

And yes, you would THINK taking too long to finish wouldn't be a problem, wouldn't you? :rolleyes:

While I work on the research :)D) I thought I'd share my experiences with various products here.

Today at Target I found Zestra. For anyone who doesn't know, it's a female enhancement type product and it's with the lubes and condoms. It was the only products of it's kind there because I really don't want a warming gel, and it seemed interesting because it's more herbal based than chemical.
But it's pricey.

Anyway, brought it home. Read the instructions. Applied it. It's very smelly and the taste wouldn't be so great for oral sex (*sigh*) BUT within about two or three minutes of application I could feel it working. My labia and clit felt really warm. Not tingly or aroused, but warm.
I picked a lit story and started masturbating (thanks Selena Kitten for the story, btw) and I came before the end of the first page. Came hard, like back in the old days, with appropriate throbbing and everything. Yay!

I'm looking forward to trying it with a partner, and I'm also anxious to try out some other similar products. I sort of feel like this is my new quest. It's very frustrating to me that it's so hard to find good products to help women orgasm.
 
Any astringent or irritant will work, keeping in mind that whatever affect it has on your wrist will be amplified by several orders of magnitude when applied to any mucous membrane.

I don't recommend astingents, they tend to dry the skin out - irritants range from mild - mint oils, such as are found in ordinary toothpaste - which some people swear by - to the scream inducing cinnimon oil or Capsicum for the truely masochistic.

For any of it, I recommend starting with very tiny, and heavily diluted amounts, definitely the time to learn the principles of homeopathy - there is no going back. I once accidently scratched myself after applying some Capsicum based muscle rub and it was several hours, or seemed so, until I was capable of entertaining company.

I should have known better - once long ago, I beat off several hours after eating a bunch of pickled Jalapenos out of the jar - the infused vinegar had dried on my fingers and was reactivated by the moisture, wow.

There are probobly much milder irritants, I suggest consulting a herbal reference, or maybe a witch - some can cause blistering which can be too much of a good thing.

Spanish Fly, the crushed bodies of the Lytta vesicatoria is such an irritant, but dangerous if not used in minute quantities.

Mint jelly might work, both tasty and nutritious - some Chili Jelly or even some Habenero honey for hard cases.

Hot Mama's the same way. I've decided to do some exploration on ways to change that but I'm not sure that creams are the way to go. But who knows?

I would swear by Tiger balm, except that it gave me an UTI. It works for others I know though.

These new gel alcohol products for the hands work wonders, but watch the quantity on the beginning.

And in another note, there is always the detachable shower head. Works wonders.

Zestra has been found in clinical studies to be efficacious in improving tactile sensitivity in women using SSRI's. In one study it was found that Zestra was just as effective in improving sexual function in women using SSRI's as in women who were not. (Have a copy but cannot link).

Another OTC product from Durex is called Tingling, which I found at a local drug store. It has a minty smell and nice taste to :) , especially when combined with other tastes. It provides a tingling sensation and warmth, which is similiar in physiological response as Zestra. Need to shake it well!

I was hesitant to suggest Tiger Balm-- I've enjoyed it, but it's in a Vaseline base, and therefore difficult to wash off... which can be the point, in some situations... ;)

I've mixed it into skin lotion, to get it under a bit of control.

Cinnamon extract might work, you could mix it into something. Like, maybe, buttercream icing :devil: (thanks, farrahmoans, I think you've made the first real rec-- that sounds like a good one!)

I lost my drive and response, the first time I was on meds. I used Zoloft, and it took several years to regain my sexuality. after I went off of it. This time, I said to my doctor that I did NOT want to lose my sex drive. I'm on Wellbutrin. But about four months ago, I said that I was feeling a bit hyper-active, so now I've added Zoloft - the smallest dose possible.

Box is right, though, oral stimulation can do the job. The trick is suction, steady for a minute or so, then off, then on again till you've pulled blood into her clitoris and labia

Some very sincere doctors developed a suction device for women-- an accujac for her. It was only available via prescription! I laughed so hard I thought I was going to herniate myself-- and I've never seen mention of it since. :rolleyes:
