Every fucking year, without fail.
This one is spreading embers for miles.

Not a pleasant time for the firefighters.

Damn dry year, it was, too.

I was living in Carlsbad during the big one in North County, San Diego. The whole horizon from one side to the other was a red glow. Scary stuff.

The winds have been wicked, the last week or so. Scary, indeed.

just be careful..

they say the wind has the upper hand now.. :rose:

The wind has been a blowing for the past few days something fierce. That, very little rain, and a large quantity of very dry fuel spells disaster. I'm surprised more of this state isn't on fire. *knocking on wood and readying the fire extinguisher*

We've been getting rain almost daily up north over the last week . . . which has been great. The hills were dry as hell.

This is nature at work doing what occurs naturally, right? Not a result of people camping and being negligent with their campfires?

I remember a long time ago in science class that if this sort of thing doesn't happen it really jacks up the forest ecosystem, despite the inconvencience to human habitation.

this area is suppose to burn on a regular basis

it is the way the ecosystem works

but people, houses, businesses and livestock

are well living there now.

I am not aware of any information about the cause, at this time.

Lucky! It only rained her briefly one day last week. Enough to smudge the windshields. It is still very dry here.

Yup. Remember the Oakland hills fires?

And I'm in CA. Further North near San Francisco though.

Yeah. We've been worried about it after the dry summer, so the rain was a relief.

Some East of here, butt nothing on the coast. I can see the smoke out in the ocean from the offshore winds. It happens every yr. about this time. Natures way of prunning the bushes ;)
