Ladies: have any of you learned how to do this for your SO? I've been trying to think of ideas to spice up my relationship with my spouse and this thought floated through my mind. I love to dance, but I've never tried anything of this nature and I don't want to come across as cheesy. I've found a couple DVD's on Amazon that seem to give a few basics, but not how to develop a full routine. I know that in some of the larger cities (NYC and LA) a couple of studios actually offer classes, but I can't seem to find anything where I live. Any thoughts? Thanks.

The simplest way would be to go to a strip club and get a few lap dances. Depending on the club, you might or might not be the only lady in the audience, but you certainly won't be the first. It's a rare dancer who would refuse to give a dance to another lady.

Of course, nothing is as simple as it sounds. Some clubs won't admit unescorted ladies, so you might have to drag hubby along (tell him it's his birthday present or something).

I think a good idea to start with is to find videos or even clips of dances you find sexy or could picture yourself performing. sometimes having a routine already done for you to practice makes becoming confident enough to actually show it to someone easier. perhaps practicing in front of a mirror would be good to show you how different movements look or to figure out what you like?

Ozone - a good suggestion - but... I'm not quite that bold, I'm afraid. I think that I'd be intimidated by the dancer - comparing her perfect bod with my not so perfect one. Plus - I'd probably piss her off by interrupting her routine - "Do that again - show me how you do that :) If I ask the hubby to take me, he's going to want to know why I want to go and I want to surprise him with this. What to do? What to do? I like Breeze's suggestion cause I could replay a section over and over while I try to learn a particular move. Still - after 15 years instruction in other types of dance - I've found that I learn best in a studio setting. I guess if I get frustrated enough with the vids, I could hire a dancer to give me a couple one on one lessons.

Every time I saw this topic on the list, I kept reading it as 'HT learn to tap dance'.

Yeah.
I forgot where I was :D

Go! you have to go! It's so liberating! Ha! The dancers are real women - no air-brushing! Even though they're hot, some will have cellulite, small boobs, etc. It's refreshing after looking at awful fashion mags! ;)

Actually, she'd probably be cool with that! LOL - dancers are mostly just trying to make a buck . You'll pay for the dance (generally around $30), then tip her. She would probably enjoy showing you some moves. I've chatted with dancers at clubs before & asked them qs -they're generally friendly & helpful.

But if you don't want to do that, I recommend viewing dances on you tube or something.

I actually teach a fitness class that incorporates some striptease moves with hip hop for a great cardio workout. I've seen Carmen ELektra's videos - I think her 3rd one has a "how to" lap-dance routine. I recommend that too! I don't think you'll find it frustrating - she doesn't just show you the final product, but tries to replicate the studio setting of instruction by repeating the sections over & over to give you the opportunity to practice & learn.

Good luck!

thanks for the suggestions...

I'll reconsider a field trip to a club, EC. We're headed out of town in a few weeks, so maybe being in a different city will help me shed some of my reservations. Also thanks for the video tips. Will see about ordering the Carmen Electra one.

thanks for the link to the website. Lots of interesting reading there.

Getting this kind of training is more difficult than I thought. I'm considering an alternate genre (belly dancing) to see if some of those moves will translate. Ah well - it's a fun project and kind of gives me a childish - "I know something that you don't know" thrill around my hunny. :)

Just an fyi, but usually local high schools give cheap classes through adult ed.
