I'm posting this in a new thread

This is a little competition for all you budding authors out there.

Obviously the subject matter is erotica.

You have to write the first 300 or so words to a story. The idea is to grab the reader (or publisher) by the balls and make them want to read on - you know that book you read and as you turn the first page you have a breathless sense of anticipation? Here's your chance to see how good you are.

I’ll collate the entries into one PDF and make it available to download, you then have to vote on each entry and give a little feedback if possible.
At the end of the month I’ll publish the results.

Oh, and by the way, spelling, punctuation and grammar count! That’s something that will get a manuscript rejected immediately.

Ok, here are the rules
Entries
1. All entries must be 300 words – can be less but not more.
2. All entries must be anonymous – no cheating, don’t tell your friends which one is yours!
3. Entries must be received by midnight on the 15thof the month - emailed to me - please include your forum name
4. Everybody who enters MUST vote
5. You must vote by midnight on the last day of the month – that’s my time, can’t be bothered to figure out the rest of the planet!
6. You cannot vote for your own entry – just put “mine” next to your own when your voting.
7. You can only vote once
8. Feed back is appreciated – but must be constructive – no flaming

:( I can't open pdf's. My computers not smart enough. (Truthfully the reader isn't compatible with my old computer and I can't download an older version.) I guess I'm out.

I can't either. Would it be possible to post them here as the Poetry Challenge was done?

i actually thought PDF's were the easiest option - guess not

i'll just put it up as a text file

Count me in Deb.

Thanks for starting another interesting and challenging thread. :rose:

its only 300 words - easy and fun, let your imagination run riot you might surprise yourself

oh and btw

you can vote without entering - in fact i would encourage it

I'll definately vote regardless. As for letting my imagination run riot that is a scary thought *BANDIT's  comment*

Deb, do you want us to try to make these entries as anonymous as possible? I don't mean disguising our "voice" but-- using, for instance characters or situations that we are already working with...

Of all the things that I suck at, this - the first 300 words of a story - is the absolute suckiest. So sure, I'm in.

Maybe...

I have a question, however. Would this be something defined as a carryover each month, meaning if we aren't available to contribute next month, but can this month and the month after, would you rather we stayed out, or can we join in whenever we find the time/concentration?

Q_C
