Anyone seen the new Harry Potter movie?

I LOVED it. We're going to go see it AGAIN, the IMAX 3-D version. It's very dark. Very Burton-esque.

I expected the ending to be better, but liked it!

Looking forward to hearing what you think. :)

I was going to see it last Sunday but spent it knocked out with some good drugs..

So who all is going to a HP party tonight to get the book?

I'm down on my back so I can't go but I'm having a copy brought to me first thing Saturday morning. :( :(

Last night I read in the local paper that the local post office will be open from 12.01 am to 2.30 am to allow the Amazon.com customers to claim their package.

I went and watched the movie at a midnight screening last week, and liked it.

Here in Denmark, some bookstores will start selling the book at 01.01 am, which is the same time as many shops release it in London (12.01 am). So the books are actually avaiable 5 hours earlier to EST to me, if I wanted to. But I'm waiting until tomorrow to buy it, because then I can save 25% compared to what I would have to pay tonight

I saw it and it looks great, but until the DVD comes out and I can watch it subtitled, I can't say much about it. Can't wait to see it properly though.

I'm going to the lake this weekend too, so won't get the book tonight...booooooo. I haven't been to my parents' cabin in 7 years though so couldn't say no when Mom invited me. You know what i'll be doing ALLLL day and night Sunday when I get home!!

We saw it at the 3-D IMAX last week. It wasn't my favorite HP movie but it was still awfully good. Neon is right though..Imelda Staunton makes the movie. She is brilliant and her wardrobe is perect!

What'd you think of the 3d at the end? Did it make/break the movie? Last time I saw 3D and Imax mixed, it was a failure - but that was the last Superman movie which was a flop anyway.

Honestly, the 3-D effect wasn't very good at all. It certainly didn't make for a better experience IMHO.

I was afraid of that. :( Seeing the movie in Imax would be enough, in my opinion.

*nods* I saw my first 3-D IMAX this past spring at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and it was amazing. I was expecting the movie effects to be the same. I wonder if the difference is the Smithsonian film was shot in IMAX and HP was shot in regular whatever mm film and converted to IMAX?

there was 3D at the end?

I saw it in a VIP room for my SIL's birthday - It's not bad, but comfy chair REALLY improved the experience for me overall from what it would have been without.

I've never seen a VIP room at a theatre. Swanky!

Yes, the entire battle sequence (aboout 20 minutes) is in 3D. Only in IMAX theatres with 3-D capability.

semi-hijack

Okay.. does anybody want to voice an opinion about whether or not Harry lives or dies in the last book?

/semi-hijack

It isn't written in first person, so why would that matter if he dies in the end?

I don't think Harry dies..I believe the series is ending because Voldemort has been vanquished.

I guess the only way I can see her closing out the series in such a way that someone else can't pick it up at a later time is to kill of the main character.

Emotionally, I want him to live but I also think RJK isn't above killing Harry and Lord Voldermort in some sort of final duel - Harry realizing that the only way to defeat his foe is to be willing to make the ultimate sacrifice and does so. RJK doesn't necessarily make things as nice and neat as we'd like them.

I agree.

Hmmm..I think that Harry Lives. I think that there is a big duel with Voldemort and I think that Harry vanquishes Voldemort, BUT, I think that maybe Harry's powers disappear after Voldemort is gone. I'd be willing to bet that his scar goes away. I've heard that more than a few die in this book, and many other beloved characters are supposedly tortured..we shall see- tonight is the BIG night!

I think my copy is held until 12 tomorrow and then they will sacrafice it.

I need to see all the movies before seeing this next one.. Marathon-style. I also have to have my candy. ET-has reese's pieces....Harry Potter...jelly bellies? I think I will need to get the regular old flavors though..none of that earwax, rotten egg, grass stuff. EWWWWWWWWWW...that would be too hardcore for me.
