Took the girls to do some shopping during the superbowl. Salvation Army was having a half off sale, and I got A eight new shirts, B four new shirts, a dress, a necklace, and a like-new pair of boots. Plus a pair of cowboy boots for my nephew, three new shirts for me, and four vhs tapes for $45!!!

Congrats! I hope the buyer gets a lot of satisfaction from the purchase... and comes back and buys more from you!

1912
The year is 1912, one hundred years ago. What a difference a century makes! Here are some statistics for the Year 1912:
- The average life expectancy for men was 47 years.
- Fuel for this car was sold in drug stores only.
- Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub.
- Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.
- There were only 8,000 cars and only 144 miles of paved roads.
- The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.
- The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower !
- The average US wage in 1911 was 22 cents per hour.
- The average US worker made between $200 and $400 per year
- A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year,
- A dentist $2,500 per year, a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year, and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year.
- More than 95 percent of all births took place at home .
- Ninety percent of all Doctors had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION! Instead, they attended so-called medical schools, many of which were condemned in the press AND the government as "substandard."
- Sugar cost four cents a pound.
- Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen.
- Coffee was fifteen cents a pound.
- Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used Borax or egg yolks for shampoo.
- Canada passed a law that prohibited poor people from entering into their country for any reason.
- The five leading causes of death were:
1. Pneumonia and influenza
2. Tuberculosis
3. Diarrhea
4. Heart disease
5. Stroke
- The American flag had 45 stars.
- The population of Las Vegas, Nevada, was only 30.
- Crossword puzzles, canned beer, and iced tea hadn't been invented yet.
- There was neither a Mother's Day nor a Father's Day.
- Two out of every 10 adults couldn't read or write and only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated from high school.
- Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at local corner drugstores. Back then, pharmacists said, "Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach and bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health!"
- Eighteen percent of households had at least one full-time servant or domestic help.
- There were about 230 reported murders in the ENTIRE U.S.A.
The good ol' days?

An entire week off work with no plans.
I am so doing the extra super happy dance right about now even though I can guarantee the boss will be ringing for help before the end of the week.

Finally getting my Christmas package from Ireland and deciding why he picked every piece inside.
Being stumped by a stuffed bunny.
Items that smell like his home.

*giggles*
Well, yes and no.
I rang Jounar a bit ago because I had news from the job I was going for (didn't get, but it could turn into something where I can get some further advancement where I am.) After talking about this job situation, he brought up "so I see you got your gifts finally" and I laughed and talked about a few of them, and he said "The scarf and the teddybear are from me ma" I laughed and he laughed at my laughing. *giggles* I told him I had figured the scarf was from her (it is incredible and she made it! first one she's made like it! Just picked up the craft a few months ago and made this first project for me!), the scarf just gave off that vibe, but was going to ask about the bunny.
So mystery solved. I knew it smelled like "home" but not just him. I'm still very comforted by snuggling with it and watching Being Human UK.

I know!
This scarf really is amazing, I had been trying to decide if she made it or bought it. (I just knew it was from her, it felt like her) But to...well, I'm just overwhelmed really. I feel so loved, by both of them.
It's amazing how much his family feels like my own.
But I'm just all giddy and love struck anyway from chatting with him about my work thing. He remembered so many of the people involved and issues I've had in the past with them.
It's moments like this that it just doesn't feel like we've spent nearly all of our time apart. It feels more like I'm away on a business trip or something and just biding time til I can come home.

You're killing me here... my heart is bursting, my eyes are tearing.... I love love love hearing these words from you. I love it.
And, I totally get what you say when you said it felt like her. I've things like that. Feel like the person that made them, wore them.
You keep this up, though, little lady, and I'm gonna need to curl up with you for a snuggle. Stroke a finger along the back of my neck 'til I fall asleep.
