Alex in Dreamland (Casting)

A L E X * I N * D R E A M L A N D​

Meet Alex, your typical ordinary guy who happens to suffer from a case of narcolepsy. During these episodes he undergoes some interesting dreams that take him to a world unlike any other. The only problem is when he awakens he brings with him pieces of that world. Its a race against time to return these dreams or risk losing his own world?


If you haven't guessed this is a male's version of the Alice in Wonderland series. Taking the character of Alex who ventures into a twisted world of wonders through his narcoleptic episodes. Oddly enough when he is awaken from these episodes he brings with him a piece of that world which incidentally effects his own world in various ways.

Joined with his friends, some of which are skeptical about his story and others who are just humor him, they work against time to find these pieces of a dream world. Collecting them they must then use Alex's strange narcoleptic abilities to return the pieces where they belong. These various pieces come any many shapes and forms, from living beings, to plants, animals or even landscapes that take over an area of the city in Alex's reality. Whatever the case its a strange twist on a beloved fairytale but from a guy's perspective.

The follow are the cast of characters needed for this story. You will be interviewed to take these parts. We do not need the characters to be actual animals or portions (ie. Cheshire Cat can be a normal person, guy or girl or even a fairy). Let your imagination run wild and remember, this is Alex's Dreamland whomever plays Alex will set the mood for the rest of our fantsy characters. Be creative and have fun!

Alex* (LitShark)
The protagonist of the story, he suffers from narcolepsy which causes him to fall asleep and stranges times during the day. During one of his episodes he follows the White Rabbit through the forest unknowingly opening a gate between his world and Dreamland.
The White Rabbit (Kuuroinochou)
Works for the Mad Hatter in his House of Pleasures, she is found hurrying through the forest to get to work on time before the Hatter deducts her pay yet again for tardiness.
The Caterpillar
This swanky individual is all about the bounty. How much are you going to pay for the information he posses? He's a self proclaimed pirate of both the open seas and people's pockets. If you got the money he has what you need.
The Duchess (Ultimate_Nerdslut)
Mad Hatter's partner in crime, she is often seen at the House of Pleasures preparing the evenings Tea Party for various guests. Incidentally it has been stated that something in the tea is what really gets the party started.
The Cheshire Cat (Caela)
An employee of the House of Pleasures, she works for the Mad Hatter for fun. Even so she can be seen floating around Dreamland causing quite the mischief at the expense of another's misfortune...perferably Alex.
The Mad Hatter (Poohlive)
The owner of the House of Pleasures, he is certifiably a mad-man. Perhaps that's where he gets the name, even so he's been known to have a pimp's perspective on his business tricking his girls for a pretty penny. He's gone so far as to deduct pay for any number of reasons (ie. tardiness, broken goods, unsatisfied customers).
The Queen of Hearts (Ultimate_Nerdslut)
Queen of Dreamland, she has a harsh tongue and a iron fist. Ruling the lands however she deems, its not unlikely that she would declare a new decree when the whim strikes her.
The King of Hearts (Kuuroinochou)
Ruler of Dreamland second to the queen, he's a cool calculating character that enjoys a good smoke from his pipe and plenty of women. Because of this, his queen has decreed that all women be banished from the land. He is often found at the House of Pleasures.
The Knave of Heartsp (RedMageNeko)
The queen's personal bodyguard and boy toy, he is the strong silent type. Never questioning his queen's methods he carries out her orders with a strict rule of thumb. The king has often tried to open the boy's mind to other pleasures... so far nothing has come of it.
Tweedledee & Tweedledum (Ahren1)
The most annoying and irresistable additions to the House of Pleasures are the twins of Dreamland. Always out for pleasures of the flesh as well as trinkets and other silly bobbles. Each twin has their own interesting personality to add to the Hatter's famed House its only a matter of time before these twins meet their match.

With her bunny's nature she has a bouncy character that is often all over the place. Never able to stay in one place for too long she can be seen all over Dreamland despite the Queen's decree. Underneath the high voltage of energy is a steaming temptress just waiting to get out in which she gives and then some to her loyal clients at the House of Pleasure.
h i s t o r y :: Born the day Alex dreamed her up, Mikii has been working as a pleasure goddess under the watchful eyes of her employer the Mad Hatter. As the famed White Bunny she is loved by all and hated by the envious Queen of Hearts who wishes for all beautiful women to be banished from her kingdom for good. With this new decree, Mikii finds solace in the form of a strange guy who has opened the gates to Dreamland.
a p p e a r a n c e:: Mikii has two forms her form as a small bunny of sorts and her human-esque form as a Playboy Bunny (not unlike the Playboy Bunnies in Alex's world) but similar just the same.

Alright, the mini-bios above are just a small insight as to what the character is about. Dreamland itself is possibly a land of sex, mischief and mayhem.

While it does have a lot of twisted ideas you can generate I still want some good writing styles. Paragraphs and 3rd person view.

OOC: I'm not sure if you had someone else in mind for this role, or if my work schedule would allow me the time to be a proper protagonist, but I'd hate to see this idea die off.

Name: Alex
Age: 19
Weapon: Intellect

Occupation: Small time drug dealer
Personality: Alex is a classical introvert. Though far from timid, he tends to keep to himself in many situations. He smiles often and has a sense of humor about most things (especially himself), but still tends to shy away from most contact with "actual" people. Slightly morbid and exceedingly jaded for his age, yet still manages to function at a fairly high level.

History: Child of a broken home Alex's first memories are of his abusive, transient father and coke addicted mother. Things started looking up for Alex at 16 when he dropped out of high school and moved away from his mom, where his dad could no longer find him.

Alex is afflicted with narcolepsy from one of his father's beatings when he was very young. His social security and welfare pay for pills to "treat" the problem but Alex ends up selling or trading most of them to keep up the weekly payments on the shitty hotel room that he's called home for the past 3 years.

Knave of Hearts
Age: 24
Weapon: Judgement (Katana like in the unarmored picture)

Occupation: Personal Bodyguard to the Queen of Hearts

Personality: One who posseses an unwavering confidence in his abilities, he swore his life to serving the kingdom and the queen, a duty he takes with great seriousness. His deftness with the blade earned him the nickname "Dark Angel" from his queen. Of course, that is not what everyone else calls him. He is spoken of in hushed whispers of taverns and even the House of Pleasure as the "Blood Knight". He serves the queen without question, performing any task given him without hesitation. But one must wonder. Can anyone truly be as uncorruptable as they say he is?

History: There is not really much to tell about the Knave. He has served his queen for years now, since he was 18. Like many, he balked at the queen's incresingly erratic and extreme decree's, but he was always the first to put them to work, always the first to hand out whatever Judgement his lady decreed. As such, he quickly rose in the ranks, becoming his lady's personal guard.

He knows of the House of Pleasure and he knows of the King's visits there. He says nothing of it to his queen not out of any loyalty to the King, but because his absences give him time alone with his lady, something he relishes and would never admit.

Also if you want to give them a name like I did with the White Rabbit you can do so.

Most people are called by these names out of respect or because of their place. Like the King and Queen would be called thusly...

And the Mad Hatter would be called Mr. Hatter.

I'm not sure if Gag is going to be playing Hatter in this version so if anyone was looking to take his role go ahead and make profile.

And the Knave is

Alex (Lit), the number one thing however is that if you don't think your schedule is going to allow you to post regularly then perhaps you should hand that role over to someone else. However I like your idea so hopefully you'll be able to post enough. And this thread is going to be a slow paced thread only for the fact that I myself won't be available regularly...

We'll see how things go. I just need Alex currently to start the game. And I'll draw the other characters in one at a time so there's no confusion.

Personality: I am controlling, demanding, erratic,and jealous. My word is law and therefore all bow it me. I am not kind but I know when one is deserving of favours such as "Dark Angel" my personal body guard. Ruling this land is a bit of an ordeal since my husband is never around, this often causes me to be more sharp tounged with my subjects then I should be, but oh well what can they do (hahaha).
Histroy: I really have no histroy beyound the castle since i went from princess to queen to wife, to whimsical ruler. My history lies mostly in the decrees of the land most notably the decree to banish all woman so my cheating lieing husband cannot indulge in their 'company'

Weapon: Personality, wit, and an annoying tendency to slowly disappear
Appearance: Like the rabbit she can appear as a girl or a cat. As a girl she's tall and willowy with sleek black hair nearly to her waist, and snapping green eyes that always seem to be sparkling as if she knows something. Full lips are a deep shade of coral that perfectly accents her alabaster skin making her need for makeup very minimal. As a cat she's lean and wiry with the same dark fur and snapping green eyes as in her human shape.
Personality: Sasha tends to be playful and mischievous and delights in appearing and disappearing when it's least expected. It makes an excellent cover for her natural curiosity allowing her to slip around unobserved though she must be careful when snooping as she can be a bit of a klutz at times making her a shoddy spy.
History: Being a part of dreamland she doesn't really have much of a history. The earliest memory she has is of slowly materializing in front of the Hatter and applying for a job in his House of Pleasure with the sure knowledge that it would be the best place to stay out of sight of the Queen...and the surety that staying out of the Queen's way was a good idea.

The Queen and Hatter, roles are very important so therefore will remain open until I get some variety and see how people precieve them.

If no one choose to try out for the Queen then you can go ahead and claim the role.

Thanks Kuuroinochou! I tried to find a picture myself but just couldn't find one I felt really suited what I was thinking of so you got a description instead. If I come across a picture that fits as well I'll post it.

I understand what you're saying Kuu, I'll be able to get decent posts up about once a day, but it'll likely be up in the wee small hours of the morning for most of you non West Coasters. I think I could do it, giving other characters ample time to respond throughout the day. Also I might spend good time on and posting on weekends. I'm really excited to get back into writing again and was actually in the process of imagineering a dark children's story adaptation.

Anyway, assuming I can only post 1 time a day, if you want an Alex w/ more free time and gag won't be joining us, I also really like the Hatter role. So I could try out for that part too.

Nah you can go ahead and play Alex if ya want. If we don't find anyone for Hatter then you can also play that role to give you more to do.

I myself am heading out wednsday so I'll set up the thread tomorrow or later tonight. Probably give you a chance to throw something in there when you get a chance.

I'm also thinking a turn base game is in order... considering we'll be going in and out of two different places.

Once a character is drawn into the story they post on their next round so everyone has a chance to post. I'll fill in on the details soon enough.

Name: Luke
Age: 19

Occupation: Student / Hacker
Personality: On the surface, plays the part of the staight-laced student, but in reality is cynical and disgusted with the current state of the world. He has little remorse for strangers and does not trust easily, but there is still a kindness about him that he reveals to very few, generally women. Though mostly a serious person, his sense of humor is dry and dark. He becomes extremely skeptical when faced with things he does not understand immediately. Still, he longs for a truly interesting adventure but has settled in with the fact that it most likely never will happen.

History: Luke has no special history. Since an early age, he has shown signs of great intelligence, and has progressed through school quickly. His life was essentially perfect, but it only served to bore him. He became friends with the loner, Alex, in hopes of discovering part of a life that might interest him. Despite this, he still attends school when he feels like it. Luke's specialty is being adept with computers and technology. He has since learned about creating viruses and hacking, which often allows him and his friends access to a great deal of bank information, and subsequently funding for whatever interests them currently.

Age(s): Unknown, appear to be teenagers.

Personality: The twins, while holding distinct personalities, share a few certian traits, being that they are extremely loyal to one another, and rarely are seen apart, if ever. They're mischievous, destructive and will freely use anyone for their own pleasures without a second thought. They're rather annoying at times, but also generally entertaining, and are seen as somewhat as the jesters of the House.

Vincent, or 'Dee', is the calmer of the two, and generally the voice. At times, he may seem almost normal, however inside his mind lurks a sadistic, crooked part that most fear to see. He, in particular, has a fascination with collecting trinkets or anything he finds interesting.

Issac is a lunatic, simply put. His words are often convoluted, nonsensical and usually downright bizzare. It's clear his intelligence is at a lesser degree when compared to his brother, though he isn't without wicked cleverness. His twisted nature is more on the surface, and most likely may be a window into Vincent's own thoughts. A frightening notion, because while Issac is crazy, Dee's intellect proves that if these thoughts are similar, he may be the true insane one to think them with such a calm mind. Issac's specific interest is fire, and many fear him for his pyromaniacal actions. He is sometimes referred to as 'Dum' in the same essence as his brother, but it seems to upset him.
