"Big Love" on HBO

Another show I love.

But it is much too tame.

Has the new season started yet? I cancelled HBO but might just re-subscribe for Big Love and the Sopranos.

As far as being tame..they are Mormons afterall. Waddya expect? :D

I've been talking about this show on my Movie thread. I just watched the whole first season because Marquis recommended it in his BDSM Movie thread.

Fury :rose:

It's a low budget show. So I guess it will run for 6 more years.

I loved six feet under as well.

Never could get into Deadwood.

Six Feet Under is great. I'm currently in the process of having them sent to me through netflix.

Have only seen a couple episodes of Big Love but it looked interesting...strange...but interesting.

I watched it from get go, freaking loved it. But I agree way too tame. And a bit frustrating in terms of "oh for crying out loud, do something"

I also loved loved loved Deadwood and Carnivale

See, I don't see it as being all that tame. They are Mormons. In Salt Lake City. They are by definition mild-mannered and tame people. To make the show more wild would ruin the subtle revelations of just how out of control Bill's life is.

We just watched the whole first season, too. I was so sad that we'd have to wait until next year to get another as we saw that last episode, dammit!

Fortunately, I saw HBO had renewed it for a second season, which will be out around this time next year, IIRC.

Maybe it's a bit tame, and I don't like the fact that just about everything out there casts poly-whatever as associated with religion and/or crazy people, but it's still nice to see something we can relate to in the media. And, we thought they did a good job portraying the major aspects of polyamory, even in the context of polygamy, and that it's not only for Bob Greene types.

Maybe people who enjoyed the show will learn something, reconsider their views, or at least not be so shocked when they hear about alternative lifestyles that aren't harming anyone. It's nice to give them the opportunity to be a little more openminded, at the very least, in our opinion. :)

True. But they could show more FUCKING!

I really liked Big Love, but at the end of it I realized that not much really happened... was still interesting, though ^^

I second that perk!! Do tell

I had HBO last year as part of a special intro package and I dropped it as soon as the price went up. Missing the Sopranos and now Big Love is killing me!

"Damage Control"

Bill scrambles in the wake of the family's exposure; Barb retreats into her own world; Roman intimidates Joey; Sarah has a suitor.

Where might a poor soul who doesn't have HBO come across a link to this season's episodes as they come out? :D

You can torrent the episodes but I would advise you not to download any of them until the season is completely over. I have had several friends who missed an episode of Sopranos, downloaded it and immediately got a copyright letter from their net provider (who received a complaint from HBO's attorneys). My guess is that they (HBO and probably Showtime) surf the torrents for people downloading while the season is current. I know I have gotten other shows with no issues but it was AFTER the season was over. I also haven't had any issues with snagging ABC shows either while in season so my guess it is HBO/Showtime worried about missing out on a buck or three.

Other option is have someone tape them for you but still easier to wait to get the entire season on one vcr tape since the season is usually only about 6-8 episodes (which I am just across the mountain pass from you and would be willing to do if you want).

Thanks, Kierae. I'll either wait until it's over, or it comes out on DVD. I think "The L Word" is released on DVD in the fall, so that should give me my fix in the meantime if I wait. :)

I watched the 1st and 2nd episodes this morning.
Bill is an EGO maniac.
