No problem. :)

The second option worked best for me.

Thank you. :)

Also, I realize that one's definition of liberal and conservative is probably relative to whatever state, provence, or country you reside in, but just pick what feels most accurate.

There wasn't a good option for me- a currently curious mishmosh of both sides of the power coin, fiscally conservative, socially liberal type person.

Add me to whichever column you feel fits best. LOL

Yeah me too!

Fury :rose:

I'm in, too. Hmmm, who would have guessed that so many of us subs were liberals, too? ;)

I was thinking it would skew a little dom-conservative sub-liberal.

Cause... doms are control freaks and subs want to be controlled. So doms want deregulation and subs want lots of government programs.

... </total bullshit>

I suspect that is the working assumption. :)

Fourthed.

I am what many would have called a "Goldwater Republican" back in the 60's and early '70's, meaning - Get the government out of private affairs and most businesses, provide a good defense and infrastructure, then get the hell outta the way of people doing what people wanna do...

If Libertarians were half-assed effective I would register with them and be done with it. But I live in an area where Libertarians couldn't get elected even if all the other candidates dropped out. *chuckles*

Gawd I miss Goldwater... Maybe Jack Kemp will run again in '08?

You know, I think I do too. I almost bought a Nixon campaign button in ironic demonstration of just how cockyskewy 'pubs have gotten.

I'm liberal. I'm not necessarily in favor of excessive control but I think the measure of a society in the end will be how the people on its bottom fare, not just the people on its top rungs. You know, like how Dominants and people in power are supposed to give a rat's ass about the people they have power over...hm.

Nothing there applies to me, unfortunately.

IMO, the Government's job is to shut the fuck up, sit the fuck down, stay the fuck out of my business, and go play with themselves, unless some roads need to be fixed, or some assclown goes on an unjustified murdering spree.

I'm a Switch, FWIW, and that's my write-in ballot.

Personally, I'm in favor of absolute direct democracy. Republics never work for more than a few centuries before they go pear-shaped. I'll cite Rome as my prime example, but there have been others throughout history and on nearly every continent. Antarctica being the notable abstention.

I am a DOm, and rather to the left...

but then I grew up in the SF Bay Area and used to hang out in the People's Republic of Berkeley

Need definition before I can vote. Us canucks have different ideas of what is a liberal or a conservative.

Yeah, it probably is bs, but thats what my theory is, as well. I just wanted to see if there is any basis to it, at all.

Did I assume right that liberal means less regulation? I got a bit confused by the discussion, not really that firm with the US political system...

Not really, no. For example.....

Liberal politicians are generally in favor of regulation to protect the environment.

Conservative politicians are generally in favor of passing laws to outlaw flag burning and prevent gay marriage.

It's all in how you look at it.

As you may know, there are two predominant political parties in the U.S., Democrats and Republicans.

Bush is Republican and a conservative politician.

Generally speaking (and all things being relative), Democrats are liberal.

The idea of what it means to be liberal or conservative shifts over time as the center of American politics moves to the right or left.

However, conservative politicians will generally support things like heavy spending for defense and be anti-abortion, whereas liberal politicians will generally support heavier spending for the poor and be pro-choice.

So liberal means liberal in regards to personal freedom and such? Then I voted correctly for me. :)
