According to page 2 of the Public Agenda supplement of today's The Times, M Gilles de Robien, the French Education minister, suggests that greater mastery of grammar could help to prevent outbreaks of violence. Students would not riot if they could master reasoned argument.

"When young people have difficulty expressing themselves the tone can rise quickly," he explains.

La Grammaire? Allons-y!

I would suggest that the words of M Gilles de Robien, the French Education minister, be required reading for all young people. "When young people are rolling on the floor and laughing, it is difficult to riot."

Tell me, what is the reasoned argument for "Your momma..."?

Grammar has about as much to do with reasoned argumentation as triginometry has to do with cunnilingus.
