It seems that you have much to say.... Laura is fortunate to have your friendship.

It is good to see you here, watching you find your words.

to celebrate

an orange clown takes the stage to sing:

Oh Lydia, oh Lydia, say, have you met Lydia?
Lydia The Tattooed Lady.
She has eyes that folks adore so,
and a torso even more so.
Lydia, oh Lydia, that encyclo-pidia.
Oh Lydia The Queen of Tattoo.
On her back is The Battle of Waterloo.
Beside it, The Wreck of the Hesperus too.
And proudly above waves the red, white, and blue.
You can learn a lot from Lydia!

La-la-la...la-la-la.
La-la-la...la-la-la.

When her robe is unfurled she will show you the world,
if you step up and tell her where.
For a dime you can see Kankakee or Paree,
or Washington crossing The Delaware.

La-la-la...la-la-la. La-la-la...la-la-la.

Oh Lydia, oh Lydia, say, have you met Lydia?
Lydia The Tattooed Lady.
When her muscles start relaxin',
up the hill comes Andrew Jackson.
Lydia, oh Lydia, that encyclo-pidia.
Oh Lydia The Queen of them all.
For two bits she will do a mazurka in jazz,
with a view of Niagara that nobody has.
And on a clear day you can see Alcatraz.
You can learn a lot from Lydia!

La-la-la...la-la-la.
La-la-la...la-la-la.

Come along and see Buffalo Bill with his lasso.
Just a little classic by Mendel Picasso.
Here is Captain Spaulding exploring the Amazon.
Here's Godiva, but with her pajamas on.

La-la-la...la-la-la.
La-la-la...la-la-la.

Here is Grover Whelan unveilin' The Trilon.
Over on the west coast we have Treasure Isle-on.
Here's Nijinsky a-doin' the rhumba.
Here's her social security numba.

La-la-la...la-la-la.
La-la-la...la-la-la.

Lydia, oh Lydia, that encyclo-pidia.
Oh Lydia The Champ of them all.
She once swept an Admiral clear off his feet.
The ships on her hips made his heart skip a beat.
And now the old boy's in command of the fleet,
for he went and married Lydia!

I said Lydia...
(He said Lydia...)
They said Lydia...
We said Lydia, la, la!

I just want to warn the minute edit man that he's not going to get an end of performance stroking if he doesn't let me read his damned poems on the 30/30 thread.

Oh ... please forgive.

Congratulations AChild ~!!!!

I was waiting for the next and then realized that was it ... I'm sorry for not seeing it sooner. I even backtracked here and everyone was already Congratulating you, I am sorry for not seeing what was before mine eyes ...

I would love to try this but fear of failure, seems I have a huge problem with commitment. My time is not my own anymore. I flutterbug from one drama to the next, That's what happens when one has three children permanently connected to ones booty. BUT

I love reading all the poems and am so amazed at the randomness of it all.

A Shout out to allllll who have started, tried and yes, even finished ...

I'm sorry, Champie, I was being irritating earlier.

I'm playing with rules. The rules of the 30/30 thread say that you have to write a poem each day for 30 days and that each day's poem should be posted on that day. It doesn't say anything about how long the poem needs to be posted. So I am deleting them within ten minutes or so. Just being irritating, 'cause this is the one place I can be an irritating bore and get away with it. Call it passive aggression. Call it conceptual art. Same difference.

Anyways, today's poem was inspired by you. It was a Bob (I think—not sure I have the form down right). I'm planning to post it in a day or two.

So—if you write a poem and noone reads it, does it make a sound? Is it, if noone reads it, even a poem?

I suspected as much darlin'. I figured that you were trying to rattle my TypeA-ness so I wasn't gonna mention it. You're still not gonna get petted in 3 weeks.

OK. Here it is (or was):

[edit]You find here the twisted, smoky remains of what once might have been a poem.[/edit]

Of course, this will self-destruct in about five minutes.

I am alone in there. Where are the brave hearts who want to write for the pure sake of just making some kind of art each day? Although it's only good for Mom's fridge or the panty drawer, poets must write a poem, you might as well do it in the 30/30 thread.

anna - thanks for the effort, I'm sorry to see you have to start again with only a week to go.

T-zed - even though they were invisible , I liked your company.

I hope all is well out there. Hurry back poets, the challenge is looking like my own personal vanity thread.

too much turkey
on the brain, I remain
lethargic, zombie-like
too catatonic to write
anything of interest

I sit staring, stuffed
sated for the moment
but hunger has a way
of returning, my yearning
to evacuate will precipitate
my burning desire to express

Wow you really noticed my absence very quickly, the sun is not even up!

I fell asleep on the fucking sofa last night before I got a chance to fake a poem I am just exhausted and homesick...and I woke up delerious in the baby's bed (he had nightmares) with half a mind to try to sneak one in early this morning

I hope someone comes to join you, but I don't think you have to worry, after one day of you being on your own, it will not look like a vanity thread quite yet.

I know it is just a silly challenge but I am sad, it really sucks, I tried hard this time, sneaking away with the kids home all day and out of town guests and everything to get on the stupid computer, oh well, it is a challenge I will not be starting again. I never ever want to feel forced to sit down and write when there is so much living to do. I will write when I want to write from now on. and leave this thread for the experts.
