Oh! Are you in trouble again Emerson? You naughty boy, I can tell you're deeply troubled by this latest faux pa. Rest assured, I was not referring to you or whatever shenanigans you're up to now.
I was referring to the fact that some people mix fried chicken with waffles and syrup. I was going to post my shocked and appalled image, but thought it might be one step too far.

rainshine: the chicken & waffles thing is (originally) a soul food thing that's since traveled quite a ways, evidently.

ed, I had never heard of it! When this person told me I thought it was a joke, I had to google it. I got pages and pages of images. I was shocked someone would even think to put those dishes together, let alone harden their arteries with it. *gag*
Yuck!

i was born & raised in the US and hadn't heard of it until the last few years. it's apparently a soul food thing, which probably explains it. it was mentioned however in an 80s john hughes flick.

Mmmmm... soul food. Used to go to a place in DC, in the basement of a church no less, that had the best soul food. Collard greens to make you weep. All with a big glass of sweet tea. Yummy!

Don't jump so quickly to exclude this solution, as with some it is the only way they'll ever learn. Case in point - I'm watching Bering Sea Gold tonight and they're hyping that someone drowned. Early in the show, one of the divers doesn't show up at the boat to go out. He calls the boat later and suggested he could just swim out. Guess what, he tried, then rescue crews had to fish his lifeless body from the sea. Definitely a Darwin Award contender.

Soul food - makes me homesick! I miss really good Southern Fried Chicken and sweet tea! My LDL level, arteries, and cardiologist are glad, but I do miss them!

I've been out for five months. I didn't start looking right away, as I used the time to almost fully resolve myself of a health issue. Then the holiday season came up, where the only work available was seasonal. Now that the holidays are over, I'm hitting it hard.
I'm really just looking for something full time that isn't directly sales. Since I graduated, I've been a legal assistant (was curious about law school, not anymore) and I stumbled ass backwards into a fantastic job creating, editing, and fact checking presentations for a pharma company. I was filling in for someone who was on medical leave, but alas it was temporary.
