The next time I see someone start up with the "But this is a porn board" nonsense, I'm going to direct them to this thread.
I'm just amazed at the outpouring of love and emotion I'm seeing there, not just from HT regulars and semi-regulars but from regulars on other boards as well. Maybe Lit is just a "porn board" for a lot of people, but for some of us, it's that and a helluva lot more. |

I don't even think of it as a porn board. For me it is my first and best Internet home.
And Quoll was one of my favorite family members. A little while ago, I shared laughter with Cathleen remembering some of the many times he made me laugh. And then I hung up the phone and cried. Damn it, just damn it all the hell and back again.

I think those of us who knew how truly special Quoll was have cried more than a little today.
What I remember the most is how witty he was. And boy did he have some zingers. But underneath it all his heart was as big as the sky.

I agree. When I first came to Lit I was hanging on by a thread. Developed some friendships that I have sorely neglected and no longer deserve.
Many times I when I visit I just read. I feel like I have nothing worth offering of any value to a conversation so I stay silent.
I will NEVER forget Cate who reached out to me a few years ago with her perfectly timed phone call as I was going in for a lumpectomy. I couldn't voice my own fears to my mom or "real life" friends because I didn't want to deal with their fears. Cate doesn't even know that she was my rock during that phone call. And for that I was a shitty, useless friend to her.

Speaking of the old fish smacker.....I saw on a reality show where the contestants hadd to knock each other off of their respective perches using a huge dead fish as their weapon. It wasn't funny after the first few swings.
Regardless, I immediately thought of Ed.
