If so, when do you use it and why?

Why did you pick it.

I use Marquis as my BDSM identity whenever I don't feel comfortable giving out my real name. On Collarme I am DonatienDeSade, but only because Marquis was taken. I sign everything as Marquis until I feel intimate enough with a person that I tell them my real name. I often require even more intimacy before I let them use it.

I've tried using Marquis in my real life scenes, but it ends up being messy since so many people know me by my real name. Funny enough, I use another name for any modeling or acting work I do. Last night I hung out with a few people who know me personally, as a model and as a Dom.

All rather confusing and annoying to be honest.

I use BB as myYahoo nic but use my real name once comfortable with others. I like my name so I have no problem using it.

Now as for names others have picked for me slut and fuck toy come to mind but neither with my approval or consent.

Usually I get called a slut/cock-sucking slut or a lil girl. Everyone else know me bty Kayla and slut and lil girl are names very few call me and if they do they mean a lot to me. unless they are calling me a slut in a bad way then they're fighting words

Xelebes is my rave scene name, but I don't think that counts.

Dude, I heard the coolest song last night.

It went like:

*pop* *pop* *pop* *zooooop* *zoooop*

*shimshimshimshimshimshimshimshim*

*pop* *pop* *zooooop*

Which one is that?!

Nah, only to y'all. Feels a little...pretentious elsewhere. The most that I might do is refer to T as T, and only then because nobody ever gets his real name right.

F used to have a BDSM type name, and he was still using it in a similar manner to you Marquis, waiting until he became more familiar with people....but he mostly just uses Francisco now as like you found, it becomes annoying at times when you hae to explain why you are now F. I use Catalina as it is my slave name he gave me, and so makes sense when connecting with D\s people....and is how I think of myself. I sometimes tell people my real name if I feel they would find that more real for them, or if it is someone who crosses both my vanilla and D/s world at which time it becomes their choice which they prefer to use. I am bringing my slave name into my vanilla world in a slow and subtle way though.

How?

I've always been interested in how this transition can be made.

same way as a pet name or nickname. if thats what people call you others will start calling you it also

I have begun to use it or a form of it for my writing, art, and photography...just explained to friends and family who asked why that was signed on my work that it was the name I was choosing to work under these days as I wanted to move away from my given name and the past...they thought that was understandable and cool.

Was it a four-on-the-floor type song or was it a sped up version of hiphop?

I don't really have one :) I've started using Rayne which is a shortened version of my first name, Master uses it as a "pet" name.

I use the name 'garm' as it is the name I've used in the pagan community for the last 25 years. So a lot of people know me by that name.

Lilith is my non-public persona, at every site I belong to online and in my private encounters. I teach and so professionally and amongst my peers I go by my given name. I am trying to integrate Lilith into my legal name as well. My middle initial is already L and due to similar (first and last) names I use the L in my signature and writing. I would like to legally have the L name changed to Lilith. Very few people from one part of my life know about the other so it is rare that the two names collide.

It's a series of steps with me.

I have another name I use online, and the way I have dealt with it is the same in both situations.
Once I get comfortable with someone, I give them my middle name, telling them that it is such, but it is the kind of name that can be used as a first name.

Then, once I get REALLY comfortable with someone they learn my first name, and possibly my phone number (before that I do all the calling, or give them my cell number)

I am a very private person, it takes a long time to go the gamut. No HNG would bother.

It's been done - both with a Dom I met in Toronto, and a friend I've made online, though I wasn't looking to - just kind of fell into it.
Also another Dom far away.
The one in Toronto didn't work on a chemistry level - plus it takes 90 minutes to get to his place by bus/train, and I don't like to drive there.
The friend I see about twice a year, but we talk a lot.
The Dom from far away I may visit soon.

I have another name I was given.. more a slave name than a scene name. It's private and very few people call me by that name.

I'm mostly ~cait~ wherever I go.

Sin

I have always used 'Sin'. Both as an abbreviation for Singularity, and because the three-letter word fits just as snugly.

No scene name, though plenty of screen names and a number of nomme de plumes. I don't use a real name in anything I do for recreation online (and often off). Might make it hard to get a job someday! Oh yeah, I used to have tons of embarassing nicknames too that my clever master gave to me.

Rosco, I'm enjoying your names. I would also call you "Dastly Do-Wrong."

I often get the name Lolita for my relation to the book. I do not really like my own name so this suits me just fine
