Today I had to grocery shop. Not Christmas stuff just ordinary, everyday things.
Going near any grocery store at this time of year is a mistake!

Most of you know I like some humiliation but today was just a step too far and todays events have ended up on my list of HARD limits.

Firstly the main car park was full so I had to park in the overflow one, which is at the bottom of a steep slope. Ice and snow covered the parking area and the walkway.

At the store the only trolley left was enormous, the handle came above my breasts so I looked like a 5 year old pushing a grown-up trolley.

Of course the store was packed with children, men and women all having variations of a bad day.

The things I wanted to buy were all on the top shelf and set back in the shelf so I could not reach them or had to climb up the shelving to get them.
I would normally ask someone to help, but everyone looked like one wrong word and they would bite your head off.

Finally at the checkout the ultimate in humiliation of the short person occured.

I could not reach the items in the trolley!!

I had to push my breasts over the top of the trolley, lean over the edge, balancie my stomach on the edge of the trolley and dive my arm towards the bottom of it, as far as I could. This meant my feet left the floor.

I repeated this process for almost every item.

The next part of humiliation was trying to get this trolley down an icy slope, avoiding hitting any passing cars and unload groceries into the car.

Humiliation and a work out all rolled into 2 hours!

Frankly, give me sub humiliation anyday ~ name calling, crawling on the floor, anything just never, ever make me go through that again.

I know what you mean. I have this problem all the freaken time. It doesn't embarrass me, though. It makes me mad. I think us short people should sue the govt for being short-ist. (Kinda like sexist, but for short people.) Hey, if fat people can do it, why not us?

I almost never can reach things in the bottom of my basket. They only have one size cart and it's always too big. I normally lift a child into the basket to hand me things.

The thing is that on top of being short I have short arms and legs. I know children that are shorter than me who have a longer reach.

Another type of humiliation that I've noticed in clothing stores. Namely : putting the small sizes on the top of the display and the XXL on the very bottom. I have to climb the display to reach my size and the extra tall and heavy people have to practically lay on the floor to reach their sizes. :(

Makes you wonder why short people bother with BDSM when the vanilla world gives us so many opportunities to feel humiliated.
Even daring to ask for help is a form of submission, if I could find the right size ladder I would take it shopping with me.

Sadly they are all too big for me to carry :(

And what about the restaurants where the tables are too high? Not to mention that I cook for a living and can NEVER reach any of my supplies! I absolutely hate, however, that my feet don't quite reach the ground in most chairs. I solve this problem by crossing my legs up underneath me whenever I sit down, but damnit, that can get uncomfortable! ><

I always refuse to sit in boothes. The tables are too high, they come to just below my shoulders and I get food all over me. And if they're that high on me, they're even WORSE on the kids. Plus sometimes they'll put the bench too close and it's a tight fight. I guess you have to be skinny AND tall to get into those booths.

I used to be a waitress at this retirement home. The person who'd designed the kitchen was 6'2". One of the main cooks was 4'11". She used to turn over a milk crate to stand on, and she'd just move it around with her.

And you think it's a pain to climb the racks to get your clothes. I'm fat and short. They don't even make them in my size. I just got a pair of jeans and they're regular length and I have to roll them up twice, and they're still a bit long.

I always thought it was strange that as waist sizes go up for women, the pant legs get longer. Like, if you're a size 9 like me, you have to at LEAST be 5'10"

><

It's not always a blessing to be lanky like me, either, for the same reason. I used to have to special-order my jeans to fit my waist while reaching the floor. Not to mention it's uncomfortable as hell to squeeze into airplane, theatre, or other mass seating, plus I can't wear the sexy heels I so love because a.) I have awful coordination and falling from great heights hurts more :D , and b.) I'm taller than the males I'm with, and I'm NOT into that. But I know that does seem rather petty. I sympathize; my best friend (and bridesmaid) isn't even 5". It's good for hugging; her head is at breast level. Sorry, think I got off on a bit of a tangent there.

But at least you can reach the top shelf!!

Chicklet ~ I hate all chairs too, I always end up with back ache from trying to lean forward so my feet touch the floor. I do as you do with and cross my legs but do that for too long and pins and needles set in.

Gracie ~Luckily booths are not common in UK but fixed chairs are, which means I either lean forward as I am too far away due to having short arms, or I have to rest my boobs on the table due to being too close. I hate fitted kitchens they don't bloody well fit me!! In my last house I ripped the kitchen apart and just had furniture from the 1950's and 1960's adapted to my height. Perfect. If I ever have my own house again a kitchen MY height will be an essential!!

There's this cook on the cooking network (can't remember which show she has) who is our height, and her kitchen fits her. I remember laughing at one show because she had someone else there and all the counters were too low for them to chop comfortably. She said people are always surprised by how short she is in real life cause she looks like a normal heighted person on tv.

I live in a land of giants, with my last kitchen the advice was 'look low'
I still dont use the top cupboards upper shelves at all.

When I met one of Andantes sons' he knelt to say 'Hi' luckily I have a sense of humour, although sadly it put us at the same head height

roflmao

i have to say, i know how you feel = )

I'm a tallerish sort of person.
I'm 5'8" or so.
Most of my clothing problemshave changed now that I've gained weight.
One that has not, however, is the length of sleeves. I can count on one hand thethings that fit me well that have the right length sleeves.
A lot of the time I push my sleeves up so I don't look like I'm growing out of my own clothes.
I also wear stuff that's really baggy, or wear men's smaller sizes.
Another peeve - when I was smaller I had a proportionally small waist and long legs. It was impossible to buy a pair of jeans that fit my waist and fell to the right length. The ones that came closest were Levi's 501 button fly for women.
Now, because I'm heavier, everyone seems to have assumed that my legs have grown too. That is the only explanation I can come up with for pants my size being too long for me.
And wtf is it with lowrise jeans? Why sell plus size lowrise jeans? I ended up with a pair and I HATE THEM LIKE THE DEVIL.
They constantly feel like I need to pull them up, sag during the day, and irritate the skin near my belly button. Everyone says they're so confortable - well, no, they're not.
Lastly, plus size stores need to create pants where the waistband doesn't fold down on top of itself. I thought it was just that the pants were too big, but the next size down does it too And they're not too small, that's for sure. It's like bras.

I can totally relate to all of this, being 5'2" myself. Clothes never fit right - petites are too short, regulars are too long. And if I get tops that fit me across the chest - yes, large breasted - then the arms and bottom are too long. And I can't remember the last time I bought a dress, they look horrible on me because they're never cut right for my body. If the top fits around my breasts, the waist is too big, and the skirt is always too long, even in petites. Go figure. And I can never find nice shoes to fit - I'm between a 4 in children's and a 5 in women's, many stores don't stock women's shoes below a 6. But it is nice to buy my tennis shoes in the kids department - saves a lot of money! (I keep a folding stool in my kitchen so that I can use the top shelves in the cabinets. And I have to watch when I'm cooking on the back units to make sure my boobs don't hit the pots in front!)

Chicklet - I do exactly the same thing. I've never actually been in a restaurant where my feet touched the floor. So even in nice restaurants I end up with my feet in the seat, sitting cross legged.

When I was teaching, parents would walk into the classroom and not know how to find me - they thought I was one of the students until I turned to face them or walked up to them. Only one of my students was shorter than I was. There were many parents who worried about my ability to deal with their sons because I'm so small.

I think I like Gracie's suggestion - sue the government! Nah, not really. But would be nice to be able to shop and eat without all that humiliation!

Yes I can get my legs into booths, but then my feet don't touch. So I have to arch my hips forward to get any purchase, and that makes my back hurt so bad I can barely walk afterward.

I also have the problem with my clothes fitting. I have very small shoulders, the boobs from hell (I wear a J), and short arms and legs. If clothes fit my boobs the makers assume that my shoulders are wide enough to support them. I wish.

If you wear a short skirt, and maybe a thong, you might be suprised at the help you'd get from the stockboys. And, you know that cute little smile all of you women are so good at? The one that says "I'm helpless and you are so manly...could you save me from my problems?"

That would be a good combination, I think. The site of a woman leaning over the edge of her shopping cart, to the point her feet leave the floor would get my eyes to wondering. I think I would secretly wish for her to topple into the cart, that cute little dress falling up around her waist...her legs kicking in the air, and a muffled scream "hey, will somebody help me out of this?" from beneath the groceries. Ah, what a pleasant way to spend time in the checkout line. :D

Yeah I think doing that would ensure no one helps. They'd want to sit back and watch the tantalizing peeks of flesh.

lol

I do that though, the cute lil girly smile and telling the guys that I'm far too helpless to reach things on the top shelves. I like to make them work for me ;)

You could use that smile in another way.

"Hi, I'm far too helpless to stop you, so would you like to come home with me and spank my naughty behind?"

It would work for me. :D

If I ever wear a short skirt there will be blue snow in Hawaii!!

By the time I got the checkout the 'cut smile' was a snarl which would have bitten anyone who looked remotely interested in watching without helping.

There were no single men to be seen, they were all attached to people and small kids (small kids are not people!).

Frankly if anyone had offered help I am not sure if I would have been a bitch to them or fucked them in the trolley I had just fell in with the shock of their offerLOL

I know in your mind I would have fell in head first, ass in the air, a tub of icecream landing on my back as a handy lube......

I am picturing shy as an elf with curly toe shoes and a pointy hat and big tits.

Your so sweet

If you have very long legs it means short elves don't get neck ache when delivering special Christmas presents.
