The Shark Week Special episode of Mythbusters features Buster (the crash test dummy) in boxing match with sharks. That alone is pretty hilarious, but what they used to give him fists is even funnier.

Kari, the hot red-head intern, went right out and bought him a clenched fist and a hand with the fingers bunched (see attachments).

My question is just how did Kari know such a thing existed and right where to go to buy them? (And why did whe choose the black ones instead of the ones I found at Amazon.com (under health and fitness aids.)

They didn't say what they really were, or show the boxes or what kind of store Kari bought them in, but as soon as I saw the way the fingers are positioned on the Hand it was obvious what it was. ('cause I'm a dirty old man who looks at dirty pichers on the internet. :p)

Kari alone is worth spending an hour in front of the tube. That it's a great show is icing on the cake.

That's hilarious though. I didn't seen the shark week one when it was on, but it looks like they're airing those repeats this weekend.

I should have figured: sharks = water = apprpriate attire = skimpy bathing suits. Hell, just seeing her wet will do.

Even the staid and naive Mat knew of them...I didn't believe there was anyone below me on the naivety ladder. I feel so..........worldly.......now.

It's just that I can't quite figure out the use. I mean, when is there ever a lack of real hands to do the job?
 
I just caught this episode last night .... didn't make the connection between the hand and fist until this morning though.

Anyway, I thought she bought the items at either a costume supply shop or a prop supply store? I remember them showing her driving to the place and speaking with the associate there. Hmmm, this is a puzzle.

I remember on a previous episode (the one where they busted the myth about the obese woman getting trapped on one of those suction toilets on an airplane) where they had to go to and adult shop for the right kind of latex or whatever goop they needed to form a fake ass that felt like a real one (think dildo and other adult "props"). Maybe their "prop supply store" is actually an "adult" shop?
 
I heard Harry Shearer talking about the fun he had going to a Hollywood BDSM store to get the leather body harness and codpiece he wore as Derek Smalls, bass player for Spinal Tap.

I imagine that special effects people keep very up to date on what's available in the sex shops.

Never mind, I found 'em. As to how she knew where to find the fist and the hand . . . well, they are from the Bay Area, don'tcherknow.
