Had an argument tonight, about poetry.

Is all form, and poetic semiotics geared to erotic, or is there truly a pornographic form of poetry, stripped of all metaphor? Sure we can do it in free verse ... but do we? Can we do "porn" in a poetic form sans all semiotics? (I am form obsessed right now) Can we strip down the flower of sexual metaphor to the base of fucking ... is it poetic without semiotics, without flower?

And ultimately is poetry erotic by nature, or raw and pornographic? :)

Huh?

Are you asking for porn based form poetry, porn based poetry or just porn?

You are way too sophisticated for me darling.......

You can write an erotic form poem or a pornographic form poem. It can be metaphoric or raw. It's just woids, you know? Which woids you use.

Excuse my New Yawk accent. I tawk this way when I'm tired.

Where's the line between porn and erotica anyway? Cunt, cock and fuck are just words.

I'll start with the last. It is neither. Or both. What is more poetic, more powerful: to use metaphor to evoke sexual images, or to use pornographic imagery as a metaphor for something else?

As for your first question, can we do pornographic form, where have you been hiding? lol

Let's stand back and wait for the deluge of pornography coming in a minute. Your only excuse is that you weren't here when Judo was posting more actively, for example.

And I'll leave you with a poem selected at random from the repertoire of one of Portugal's greatest poets of all times, Manuel Maria Barbosa du Bocage (1765-1805):

Soneto XLVII

"Mas se o pai acordar!..." Márcia dizia
A mim, que à meia-noite a trombicava
"Hoje não..." continua, mas deixava
Levantar o saiote, e não queria!

Sempre em pé a dizer: "Então, avia..."
Sesso à parede, a porra me aguentava:
Uma coisa notei, que me arreitava,
Era o calçado pé, que me rangia:

Vim-me, e assentando num degrau da escada,
Dando alimpa ao caralho, e mais à greta
Nos preparamos para mais porrada:

Por variar, nas mãos meti-lhe a teta;
Tosse o pai, foge a filha... Oh vida errada!
Lá me ficou em meio uma punheta!

literal translation:

Sonnet XLVII

"But if father awakes!..." Marcia was saying
To me, who at midnight was banging her
"Not tonight..." she continues, but lets me
Pull her skirt up, and didn't want it!

Always standing, saying: "In that case, do it..."
Pressed to the wall, the fuck kept me going:
Something I noticed, which bothered me,
The shoe on my foot, which kept rapping:

I came, and sitting on the stairs,
Licking clean my cock, and her slit
We prepared for round two:

For a change, I grabbed her tits;
Her father coughed, the daughter ran... oh wicked life!
There was I, left alone to another wank!

Not a single fucking word.

So are swarm, humidity and slicing. What is porno about poetry. Can you strip poetry down to raw? Or is it always based in semiotics? Metaphors, analogy, simile, index et al?

Especially the breadth. That's what really counts. :D

Give me an English poem, because I can't translate the words precicely, my love. Give me something - Lauren - sans metaphor, index - meaning... raw! HOT! This is narrative and therefore erotic - it is imbued with meaning :) :rose: HOW do you define porn vs erotic?

about 50% of all the poetry here is stipped bare. I do not even like to say that, as it sounds like a good thing.

I dont even know what pornography is.

Or kinky.

it all becomes a blur once you hang around a porn site for too long, with cocks and facials and watch me fuck your mother on the opening page? I mean did you SEE the new model? Whose mother is she???? I think she is 18.1 years old. I guess if she had the kid at 15 her body could be back to normal already...

I forget that not EVERYONE uses this langage and is immune to images etc.... I sent a VERY tame pg poem out for submission and got a scolding from the editor!!!!

so

I have said nothing here

move along

Well, we talk ourselves into writing villanelles and sestinas and stuff. That's why he fled. :D

pornography:

Sexually explicit pictures, writing, or other material whose primary purpose is to cause sexual arousal.

erotic:

Of or concerning sexual love and desire; amatory.
Tending to arouse sexual desire.
Dominated by sexual love or desire.
ooh I like that one

So main difference according to these definitions would be intent/purpose.

And so to me, the main difference is HONESTY. Who writes erotica and does not intend to arouse sexual desire in someone...

This question is more raw. I will go back to Annaswirls in a second. What is porn vs erotic poetry to you? You, and most of us here who use and abuse semiotics? Can you strip a poem of all metaphor ... and write pure and simple hardcore? Are there pornographic poems?

Yeah. Just words that take different paths to the same effect. :)

semiotics?

This seems to be something that we could spend the rest of our lifetimes studying, for the perfect definition. I think I would rather just fuck! Really though, I personally prefer the metaphor, the invitation that doesn't come to the door the first time dressed in a teddy adorned with handcuffs. Maybe it is just me! A little bit of romance goes a long way!

who writes poetry with the intention of getting someone off? You raise an intriguing question, though. STILL - can there be a pure pornographic poetic form?

What does it look like? :)

you cannot strip anything purely of metaphor etc.

The reader can invent their own metaphor.

I don't really understand your question here come to think of it.

How do you define poem even?

I will think about a poem I have written without any intended metaphor etc etc. maybe that would help me visualize what you are getting at.

if it makes you want to fuck something, then I guess it is porn or erotic. Intentional or not.

To me, it is a matter of class and style, taste? Percieved.

And okay if it makes you want to fuck, it could be either

I will use an analogy for my perception.

The female orgasm.

Porn is like a quicky with a powerful buzzer that takes care of things for the time being. All clit, no depth, shallow, sure nice but nothing like the alternative.

Erotic poetry is like the deep intense orgasm that comes from all over... from the mind to the core, mind blurring, toe numbing, smooth muscle pulsing in layers that just does not want to stop, emotions so confused you are not sure if you want to beat the hell out of your partner, or vice versa, fall into tears, snuggle in to sleep with as much skin to skin contact as physically possible, or curl in a shell and sink deep into yourself in a meditative state.

and on that note, I have a date with my Erotic poetry. Unless he falls asleep and then it will have to be a quick porn before I turn in for the night.
